Reaction to "Preaching Evil Ep. 1" From an Ex-FLDS Member

I just finished Preaching Evil, and I just can’t believe we’re hearing Naomi Jeff’s speak, but I can’t help but feel like I’m still seeing her cult persona. You see former members including yourself who have stopped speaking in that sweet way that imitates Warren, and yet Naomi absolutely still sounds like him. She still seems to defend him a LOT too, it’s very unnerving.

For the people saying they cannot hear, turn on the closed captioning which is the “cc” button, top right corner of the screen. Then you can read what they are saying.

Thank you for your thoughts! I was not aware of the show, and after starting your video, quickly paused it to watch the first episode before finishing your video :) It breaks my heart hearing what so many people went through at the hands of him.

During our 1st lengthy lockdown, I began to look into the cults of North America. First, I looked at signs which were very common in modern day American Religions. The top five were Jehovah's witnesses, Morminism, Fundamental Christians, FLDS and Scientology. One thing they all had in common is that they are patriarchal, closely followed by the need to donate/tithe. The shunning of those who leave the Religion is something they all have in common. My heart breaks for those who have chosen to leave, but suffer the pain of being shunned by those they love.

You are doing a beautiful job at explaining the FLDS subculture from a formerly inside perspective. It is very sad that so few people know what's going on in these polygamou groups. Thank you for your compassionate and honest content. All the best to your family. You deserve to be so very happy.

Also on Wednesday, I was diagnosed with an ear infection, I talked my uncle to take me to urgent care. And I was in their system already (with insurance and stuff). They diagnosed me and put me on penicillin. I feel much better, but my hearing is affected.

It is one of the more informative documentaries I have seen. I agree with Melissa no way would my 3 year old toddler would go without me.

I just finished watching all four episodes tonight and then came back to YT to find this video (I had seen it shortly after you published it). Very interesting accounts from Naomi and others. It's really sad how Warren Jeff's had such control over so many. I had hoped when I came back here you would have done another video on another episode but nope! Hopefully you haven't changed your mind; I enjoy hearing Sam's perspectives.

Hey Sam! I am one of Warren's former wives just making a comment here. Why we all assume that Warren was having his father marry these younger ladies, with some of the stories I've heard of how marriages were done in Rulon Jeffs day, many girls were placed where they were because their own FATHER wanted them there, or their fathers were "impressed" they should go there, or they themselves asked to be married to the Prophet. When I got married to Warren, father Rulon had Warren call my father, who wasn't my biological father because he died when I was 10, but I loved him as my own, anyway, Warren called him and asked him where he felt I belonged, as well as my older step sister. My father told him where he felt we both belonged. Warren talked with father Rulon and called my father back and said they would go ahead with it. Warren's words to the first lady in his family that he told when he came home after finding out was, " I was never going to marry her!" He was surprised himself. I was best friends with his second oldest daughter. While some people could take that and twist it around, there is the truth of the story. I'm moving on with my life now, but the happy times in his family I will always cherish. Just everyone remember, while we can assume that Warren did things for a certain reason, we aren't the judge. God is. God will judge us all as He will, even Warren Jeffs... I appreciate your channel and how you tell things without the media twisting things around. So do me a favor and maybe add in there, maybe that was Warren's intention, we dont know, but maybe some of those young girls were placed there because they asked to be or their own fathers wanted them there, or felt "impressed" that's where they should go. So happy for your success as you chose what you wanted in life! Keep a going!

I've actually heard of peacocktv because they have Sliders, and I love Sliders (alternate Earths, sci-fi). I used to get the paid version, but I've got too many other subscriptions right now, so I just have the free version right now. I checked; I think I can watch this on the free version? Watched the first episode, then came back to watch your video. It was very interesting, but I don’t have any words at the moment. It makes sense that things people did and believed was because it was all they knew. I’m just glad that he was stopped and is facing the consequences of his actions. I wish the other episodes were free also. It stinks how Peacock does that.

Being chosen to go makes me think of mainstream LDS where the same special people always get put in higher callings, over and over, you just begin to feel like you are nothing, not quite the same as being separated from your family, but the concept is very unhealthy

While watching this documentary, I was thinking about how the rest of the community was supporting Warren Jeffs and his family. Because of this, I was wondering if any of the wives worked and if they didn't, what did the ones without kids do all day?

It’s always hard for me to hear your videos the volume just isn’t quite loud enough. Not sure if there’s anything on your end that may help that during Filming.

I am really interested in knowing about the differences in modesty between everything sam describes and all the footage of the compound and such vs what Naomie and Warren are wearing in the footage from them on the run. Why are the dressing "immodestly" with Naomie even in blue jeans? It seems like that wouldnt be necessary just to keep from standing out. it seems like they could have still followed the dress rules without wearing the prairie dress and poof.

Hi guys, you seem to have a problem with your audio, its very faint. I have it on the highest levels plus i added the laptop onto external speakers to see if it will help and it didnt . please check you audi recording levels as its not high enough

I can’t be the only person who watched the show and thought Naomi was super sketchy. It definitely comes across that she’s still in love with Warren and would be easily swayed back to him if he got out of prison.

I have a few sincere questions. Do FLDS go on missions like the mainstream Mormons? And what if any religion are you guys now? I know that the wife grew up mainstream Mormon so how do they get around their prophet Joseph Smith declaring plural marriage a requirement. And Joseph Smith being charged with fraud right before he created the Mormon Church? And the whole Eden is north of Kansas City in Missouri and that's where christ would return yet when they were expelled and went to Illinois saying that Missouri was damned for all eternity? How does all that work?
