This is a fairly random mailbag question… but here goes. AAA pitching question. Hamel and Vasil have been in AAA for about 20 starts now, and both seem to be struggling. Both are older prospects. What gives? And at what point do the Mets try converting them to relievers?
What about some creative uses for Blackburn, Megill, Buto as openers, bullpen days & piggybacking off of the other pitchers especially with most starters averaging 5 innings. I think the expectation was to get a Fedde. I think the Mets looked at players that weren’t rentals & that brought the level of player for prospects that they didn’t feel like they took a hit bc the market & the playoff structure keeps a lot more teams in & really led to a sellers market. Mets got better, but is it enough?
I'm ok with all the deals...I feel they did upgrade a bit...2024 was always supposed to be about being competive but with the look towards 2025/2026 as the years that the Mets were going to be the " all in " years..so 2024 is really a happy surprise...
Guessing starter. Those 3 innings in a blowout last night plus the addition of 3 bullpen arms at the deadline should be indicative of the plans for the future.
Since we just signed several relievers, with three coming off the IL in about 7-8 days, I’d guess starter. If Blackburn replaces Megill, who will Butto replace? I’m assuming we won’t go with a 6 man rotation, as that was to be for Senga’s benefit.
I think Morris was performing like a top 10 prospect. The fact that he was the cost for Blackburn, that shows how this was a great sellers market. Looking at what the Royals gave up for Lorenzen (26 year old lhp reliever), I think Morris or Stuart would have been a better return for Texas. I think if they worked at it, Stearns should have been able to trade for Lorenzen, who is much better than Blackburn. I would put Blackburn in the back of the bullpen because there is no way he is more talented than McGill. They should keep Tylor in the rotation or go to a six man rotation. The bullpen is better especially since Reid-Foley, Nunez and Garrett are coming back in the next 2-3 weeks. That's why McGill should stay in the rotation
@@igorlobkovenko9480 meguill no good in rotation rather have black burn but meguill better in pen as long and short guy stearns smart watch and learn lol 😆 😀
@petercullen2196 He's actually doing really good in the Mexican league, and he had a good year in the Japanese league, and you can get him for nothing. Baggage is just sports media nonsense. The truth is out. The players don't mind him.
Bauer was exonerated. He’s a competent major league pitcher. Let’s stop all the character nonsense. MLB has a number of actual domestic abusers and other reprobates currently playing, and has had them in the past. Would love the Mets to sign him.
@@petercullen2196You’re wrong about his current performance. And if MLB OWNERS don’t lift his blacklisting, he should sue the league for $500,000,000, minimum. Cut the baggage sh**. The Braves have an absolute sh**bag wife beater in their lineup. Then there’s the closer in Pittsburgh. And others.
