As much as I love Rory’s voice, I wish they’d include Gino’s voice (the guitarist) in the recordings. He sings live and has an amazing voice as well. I’ve seen them live way too many times lol P.S. You should look up Rory singing for Ice Nine Kills at warped tour, he sounds so good

7:31 I also noticed too the run on "Dumb" was super intentional. In addition, with the second "Same" before the line "When I don't sleep", there was a yodel in there that just fit right in. Crazy vocal on this guy.

I wanted to add that Rory tends to end most of his power high notes on a sigh, and he has a very interesting and unique sigh, which you can notice even more on some of the live performances he’s done.

Wow! I love this song and this vocals! One of my favorites on my recent rock songs playlist (favorite of Dayseeker). So nice to see your analysis of it. (It also means my amateur judgement of vocals might not be so much off ;) ) But I wouldn't be myself if I didn't brag about Jinwook :D I have to make you check his singing, either his amazing live covers of 'Believer' or 'Shie's Gone', or more metal songs with his band Danggisio (all to be found in my playlist). I have to get him out to the world, he deserves so much more than singing ballads on some local events in Korea. His powerful high pitches are totally insane.

I think the “doubt me” towards the end is also layered with a fry scream. It’s quiet but it sounds as loud as the whisper tracks to me.

I've seen phone videos of rory up close on stage, and he sounds even better live than on the records his technique and tone absolutely blows my mind and im so happy that you are finally starting the dayseeker series! As a singer for a band, i've been trying to deconstruct his distinct style, but i havent heard ANY OTHER singer in the genre that does what rory can do both live and in the studio, especially the way he dials back and integrates his break on certain words / lines / notes on Sleeptalk im a firm believer that anyone can learn to sing, and hard work beats talent, but i think its safe to say that natural born gifted singers exist and rory is one of them THANK YOU CHRIS!

Yesss been waiting for this, my bf was the one who emailed you recently about it. Rory is truly astonishing, the agility he displays, how nimble his voice is - Homesick is probably the best display, in the chorus alternating between scream and high belt with every syllable. He is without a doubt the best vocalist in the metal-adjacent scene. I'm guessing (hoping) Neon Grave will be next. As well as being another jaw dropping vocal performance, the lyrics are just a naked gut punch if you've ever lost someone dear to you. The Sirius XM live performance is the one to analyse!

I just discovered dayseeker a few months ago and they are very underrated it sad because Rory is so talented will the whole band is talented but Rory is no joke his voice is perfect and unique I can't stop listening to there music all of it is great and relatable

Im 3 months late to the video (woops) but I just came to saw that Rory has one of the most impressive belting ranges I've heard in this genre. Matty Mullins from MMF is in this category but Rory adds just a little something extra which truly sends shivers up your back over and over.

Rory is one of my favourite vocalists by far. I'd highly recommend The Color Black, the mixture of cleans and screams in that song is perfect.

Love how you mention how someone who doesn't have that top end like a "true" tenor simply won't be able to hit the high notes that Rory is singing in that "chesty" register. As someone who isn't a true tenor and loves that sound, that's exactly what I needed to hear lol

I love Dayseeker, they’re my biggest discovery this year along with Bad Omens and Rory has quickly become one of my favourite singers along with Vessel and Noah. Rory has such an incredible range and he can bring so much emotion to a song especially to the quieter ones on Dark Sun but then just like in Neon Grave he can scream like the best of them. One small thing, Rory is actually singing ‘How Do You Feel The Same Without Me’ in the chorus not ‘How Do You Feel The Sun,’ that’s how I hear it anyway. Can you let Elizabeth know how good Rory and Dayseeker are as I would also love to see her react to them, I have mentioned them to her before along with Bad Omens but it’s so hard to get new bands that she hasn’t heard through to the charismatic voice patron vote

Wow I was the "777" like but I'm also a subscriber and been trying my vocal techniques but due to a lot of allergies and post nasal drip, flu season and all, it's a struggle. I'd say the best for me since I sing a lot of Breaking Benjamin, I want to say thank you Chris for your Ben Burnley singing vocal coach video, I believe it was Diary of Jane? I have a video I was curious if you wanted to hear a karaoke session of mine. I'd love to send to you. I could use a coach. I just can't figure out how to take care of my voice.
