Honestly I lost hope on leaning anything from youtube or forums because a lot of guys building the BMWs don't know anything past a stage number. You really know a lot about this stuff. Great video and great info on the high pressure system. Actually learned something.

I have a basically stock X3 B58 gen 1 running E85 with a MHD stage 1 e85 map. I don’t want to upgrade the turbo. In terms of priority and bang for buck what should I install? I was thinking Dorch Stage on and perhaps a new downpipe but for emissions purposes would like to avoid doing a bunch of irreversible stuff. I also really want to avoid mixing fuel. Finally any recommendation on Flex Fuel kit? E85 is widely available in CA, but I am driving to TX and don’t want to have to plan my trip around E85 availability. Love your videos.

On 93 octane and Pure800 would you see any gains with the Dorch Stage 2 over the TU pump?

Upgrading my stg1 pump to the dorch stg2 pump this black friday (Dorch is having a sale). You mentioned the spool 180 flows more, should I get that instead if I want to max out my GC turbo? Currently running E40 22psi mid range and 25 psi up top with my dorch stg1 and it drops to 2100psi.

Would the jb4 work with any of the hpfp's? I know you mentioned they work best with like a custom tune (MHD, Bootmod3 etc.)

It will work with the TU pump but I'm not sure it offers any tunes to take advantage of it. You'd need to message Terry.

Hi Kern, I want to run the stock turbo with a stage 2 multimap for ethanol. From your video, "Guide to tuning "stages"" I thought I would follow your recommendation but in this video I get the impression the fuel pump upgrade is not really worth it? To run approx. E30 tune with stock turbo and downpipe should I just get the cheapest, TU pump or really no pump at all is going to be effectively the same in this scenario? Thanks.

It depends on your goals. You don't need a hpfp upgrade for stage 2.

It depends on your hp goals but you can make good power with a stage 1 pump on pump gas

@@eg000ja if you’re not going with a mix or meth, certainly just stick with Dorsche stage 1. On a custom 91 tune, you should be around ~510whp/520wtq (this is worst case scenario)

I was planning on the same mods for my b58 I plan on staying on 93 I dm dorch engineering they said if you plan on staying just 93oct than stage 1 would be fine . But if you plan on running ethanol mixes than go stage 2 hpfp

I am on a stock turbo and had no intention of trying to max it out but I got my hands on a dorch stage 2 hpfp for a great deal. I am not really looking for huge peak gains maybe 450 hp, I am fine with that but I do prefer to have a wide power band. I hope this isn’t a dumb question, but would a conservative tune be the way to go for me? Or is it the case that I would need a turbo upgrade.

So listening to you video the difference between running a FX150 and a TU hpfp on a stock turbo would be minimal and actually might decrease power with the bigger hpfp?

No, you just will not see big gains with a bigger pump on stock turbo. It really depends on the tune and fueling you use

TU pump here in Canada with all the parts is almost $2k. I spent $2200 and got the Dorch stage 2, even if I don't need it now I would rather not limit myself down the line.

There's absolutely no reason why the pump should be $2k. Search around. I bought it from Germany for $600.

Hi, I got a spool hpfp kit for my mercedes s63 Amg I installed. Now the car can’t start up. Do you need to tune the ecm just to get it start? I look at the live data the low pressure is 6.4 bar high pressure is 12 bar only. I was think you can at lease start up and tune to get more fuel.

So my buddy and I had a conversation related to this earlier today actually. And I’m curious as to what your input would be. So he is custom tuned fbo and meth (stock hpfp) and believes he is making more power on 91. As for myself, on BM3 stage 2 e30 (stock hpfp) and meth. I think I make more power on e30 than 91 (both having meth). I am going to try full 91 and see how my car likes it. He believes we should make more power on 91 with meth than e30 with meth because we won’t be pushing our stock (hpd5’s) to a limit and making them crash/dip psi. What’re your thoughts? Should I stop running e30 with meth and go straight 91 with meth? I have been seeing my hpd5 drop very low and was thinking about upgrading hpfp

E30 + meth will make more power than 91+ meth with a good tune. Hpfp dips don't lose power but its not safe. Regardless, you can run more timing with E30 and even more with e30 + meth at the same boost levels you'd hit on 91. The main benefit you're seeing is meth will clean up timing on an OTS map without having to add more ethanol so you're getting the most out of the tune.

Not really. What I'm saying is you can make more power with a smaller pump and a bigger turbo, instead of putting a bigger pump on the stock turbo. No matter what, the bigger pump will have the most support for high hp 👍🏾 hope that makes sense.

You should do a video on the Supra B58. Right now I'm on a g30 900 turbo and port injection. No HPFP or LPFP upgrade yet. Was looking at doing a HPFP upgrade when I buy the lpfp system. Any ideas??

There aren't any HPFP upgrades for the Supra. Port injection gives you more than enough fuel anyway so no need.

At the end of the video in regards to the estimated power numbers, are you saying it becomes inefficient to run the bigger pump when youre not trying to max out the power? For example, I’m aiming to make around 600whp. If I run a stage 2 HPFP, is that going to be overkill that affects me negatively compared to if I run the TU pump or a stage 1?

No, you can never have too much fuel. It all depends on what you're doing to reach that power, i.e. turbo size/efficiency and fuel type. Many people are hitting 600whp on dorch stage 2, but it's also possible on a Dorch Stage 1 with a bigger turbo. Also, if you're only using pump gas instead of e85, you won't need as big of a pump. But again you'll need a bigger, more efficient turbo to hit the same hp numbers.

Btw if you're going to make an educational video, I would get the facts straight. Spool has been around for far longer than dorch. This video is quite bias to one side rather than stating actual facts

This is a B58 fueling video, and the B58 fuel pump from Dorch came out before the B58 spool pump. Then when the Spool pump came out, they had several issues with leaking lines and filters. They say they resolved them with their supplier now, but we'll see. Those are facts.
