Hey Jade, French INTJ here : You sound quick & smooth, but too flat and muddled (take your time when reading). Don't forget that the French language doesn't use the 'schwa' sound, but pronounces every syllable with the same importance: "vulgaire" is pronounced /vulg air/, not /'vulgə/ as in English, for example. You should listen to the audio book at the same time you're reading it out loud to improve your French-speaking skills. Also, you can try listening to french music and reading the lyrics simultaneously. That's how I got a pretty good accent in English, thanks to Radiohead and the Cranberries. Look for "Jacques Brel - La Chanson des vieux amants (paroles)" on YT for instance. But don't roll your "Rrrrs", nobody does that anymore :p Your dedication to learning French on your own is truly inspiring. Keep pushing forward! 🌞
I don’t think it’s that constructive to criticise people who are at such a low level as me. The point of this reading was not to present myself as being brilliant at reading French.
@@JadeJoddle I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you. I was just pointing at hints for you to improve your pronunciation, acknowledging that you were already quick and smooth in your diction. You're not at all low level :)
Hello Jade. Here is a quote from Voltaire which shows his conception of society: "A well-organized country is one where the few make the many work, are fed by them and govern them."
Challenge, try narrating the same way you read Edgar Allan Poe. Give spoken words a third dimension. I am thoroughly impressed with how fast you are learning. I had to walk away from French. It's the verbal gymnastics that throws me off. Thanks for sharing 😊
on dirait vous avez bien avancé ou quoi c'est cool en fait moi je vous ai suivi depuis longtemps vraiment la vous avaez un peu changé mais vous m'avez bien aidé à apprendre l'englais je vous remercier enormément
Hello Jade, you just inspired me to order a copy of this book to practice reading the same text. It's a challenge to revive my school French. It has become very "dusty". Greetings from Germany.
@@JadeJoddleOh, thank you. Currently Black Cat's shop is down due to a store removal as they say. But I made a bargain with an online bookshop in Berlin and ordered a 2nd hand copy 😊
You need an accent coach, and you need to put some emotional effort into speaking French. 🙂 Southeuropeans express their emotions through their speech. You can't speak French, Italian, or Spanish with a flat voice and no emotional engagement like that, sorry... I've heard many times that English people don't show their emotions, but after so many years, I really believe that they don't have emotions...
