I'm totally floored by the response this video's gotten, thank you all so much for the lovely comments!! And just to answer a question I've seen a lot - these characters are from an animatic series I'm working on called "The Last Familiar". The hand that he's using to hold her hand in the memory of hers is the one he's missing and I thought that was interesting

I love how you emphasized that the main antagonist and the female with the braid have matching rings and obviously have an intimate relationship

Every frame can be a wallpaper seriously

One detail I love about this is the fact that your antagonist only has one arm. Lately there have been a few characters that have lost a limb, but in most of those situations, they get a real powerful prosthetic. But your character clearly doesn't even need one. And that just makes him even more of a badass. Keep up this great work!

My favorite part is when the girl says "save my family" and shows the villain. Even without knowing the original characters where the song comes from the song implies that the family is the captive. It is a beautiful twist.

Okay, so I'm like a year and a half late, but I saw first dude and I immediately fell in love. Then I saw knight lady and I fell deeper in love and gay panic. Then came dude's wife or something and I was really fricking invested in their relationship and long story short I wish this was a whole movie, because these OCs are amazing.

How freaking long did this take you? Most Animatics are just sketches. These are full fledged drawings, shading and all. Sure, not color, but the detail is insane. I can't fathom how long this took you. (Edit: As soon as I finished this, I went back up to where I paused it, and it literally says Time Taken: 3 Weeks. This only took three weeks?! You are a master!)

Hi yes nerd here: What are the mechanics of his sword? Because there are three possible builds that would explain it. One being that the blades are magnetic and attract, but aren’t magnetised to the point they can break apart to inflict more damage. The coil presumably holding the pieces together inside the cord could be magnetic as well, or there could be a pulley system.

I need this to be a show, a book, anything! I literally have fallen in love with these characters and need more about them... Tho I'm crushing on your villain now and am jealous of his fiance xD

I’m super excited to learn about this love story and delve into the lore between the characters :3 Edit: I also realized his ring was on his right hand when he was holding his lover’s hand. So maybe whatever caused him to lose his arm made him turn to evil?

The best part about these animatics is the pure pain and pure passion in the singers voices

As I walked through the dark abandoned Alley, I couldn't help the smile on my face, I had just said goodbye to some close friends, they called themselves the Vox Machina, I was going to see them soon, I was sure of that, but they were always throwing themselves into dangers and whatnot, making me pull my hair out. If they hadn't left now, I would have been bald soon. As the exit to the alleyway glowed, welcoming me in its wide-open arms, warmth and hope radiating off of it, a small chuckle escaped my lips. The doorway came closer and closer until I felt something claw at my leg, my head snapped to the side and my breath quickened, I looked around for anything out of the ordinary, seeing nothing I turned to see a bouquet at my feet, as I started to reach down and pick it up, words rang in my head. *be careful, they manipulate you, they trick you, and then, and then they take you away, no one has ever escaped from their clutches, you will be with them until you die.* As panic rose in me, I kicked the bouquet away and started running towards the exit, my only source of light. I felt something biting into my leg, I fell face-first onto the ground. I looked towards the exit and heard unnatural clicks and the noises of broken static. A voice right next to my ear spoke. *foooolisssssss girrlllllllll, youuuuuu thoughtttt that youuuu could essssssscape ussssssssssssss? Youuu have learned nothingggggg!!!* I felt claws wrap around my leg, pulling me away from the light. Tears started to roll from my eyes and I clawed at the floor, desperately trying to escape the clutches of whatever was holding me. I begged the creature. *LET ME GO!! PLEASE!! I'll DO ANYTHING!!!* There was a broken and hoarse cackle and the creature started pulling me away from the light faster and faster. I screamed and clawed at the floor, the light shrinking, my only way out, disappearing. The creature whispered to me in its monstrous voice. *Youu willll neverrrrrrr essssssscape....... the fangirrrrrrrll liffffffffe* I screamed one last time before the darkness completely enveloped me. The glowing exit slowly flickered, a man stood there, his eyes glowing a dim hazel, holding a sword. A stump for his right arm, he smiled, and the exit's light died out. Leaving the alley in complete darkness.

I love the animatic! The details have really nice touches, with the flash of his arm being gone, the wedding ring necklaces, the way the sword works, etc! But...I still can't get over how my favorite part at 1:17 with all those soldiers just BURSTING in with," WE'RE READY!" It made me laugh so hard xDDD(In a good way). Very nice work!

When I discovered this video during summer break I was like “This is absolutely amazing,” and now I’m rewatching it and it’s still spectacular. The emotions 🥺 damn your such a great animator ;)

This. Is. Incredible. The animation is stunning, and after 2 min and 16 sec I already adore all the characters, ESPECIALLY the boy missing an arm and the girl who's trying to save him from himself. 🥺 If this was a book, I'd read it. If it was a show, I'd watch it.

Though this is your first animatic, you executed each frame/scene perfectly, and with every little dettail you had put in each frame/scene you did it with an outsanding job. Though i am curious, why isn't this viral yet? Most animatics are mediocre and and some don't even have the details you had put in this animatic, the shading and your color scheme is wonderful as well, so as your oc's and the way this story compliments the song. You did a wonderful job. Hope you do more animatics as wonderful and as creative as this!

OKay I knew by the thumbnail that this was going to be ridiculously good, but I didn’t expect it to be this ridiculously good. The lighting, the characters-I SO WANNA KNOW MORE! Subbed.

Ah, darn it. Now I'm intrigued. I want to know more - why is it soooo gooood? It seems the girl who is framed as the MC or protag is the one in the forest, at the same time the dude framed as the villain (the one missing the arm) is her... betrothed...? (possibly, I'm guessing because of the rings). And she wants to help him. And at the same time the other soldiers don't seem to be antagonistic - I love this setup, there is sooo much potential drama.

That eye at the end is so menacing and in pain and ready to show he was right its just perfect.

HOLY HECK WHERE ARE YOUR SUBS?? THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The camera movements and drawings are stunning, and the story/pacing really had me engaged in what was happening too!

So married/engaged lost his arm and thinks that lover was killed by other people. The couple switched rings so they each have the others ring. Now she must go and show lover that she is alive and that it was all a miss understanding. That’s my guess.

Man am I glad this popped on my dash. Incredible work. I do not get pulled in easily but here we are.

This is what an Animatic SHOULD be!

Alas, I know that I discovered this animatic and channel much later than I would have hoped to, but I must say that I'm rather enthralled. When I rewatched this video, I took notice of something that I hadn't before, and that the scenes in 1:48 and 2:01 were the only ones with color out of the relatively monochromatic theme. I personally like the way this was done due to the emphasis the color stresses on these sections. It screams "These are important!" despite the subtle placement of each frame. In 1:48 Frey and Lorna were placed together holding hands with emotional expressions, almost sweet yet melancholy, and I adore it. It clearly stresses that they at least know each other and have somewhat of a close relationship, and that goes without mentioning the ring Lorna's wearing on her left hand. (Additionally, if I recall, one of the earlier renditions had Frey losing his left arm rather than his right, which would explain the ring he wears on the ring finger of his right hand, rather than his left- that is, presuming that image was more dated than the rest of the animatic. Just a thought.) This image is also cued when the word "Family" is sung, which I also find really intriguing, as the video itself was clearly well thought out. That being said, contrasting the former imagery, in 2:01 it shows what I assume to be Frey's irritated, maddened expression slowly growing more and more saturated in a glowing red-orange, which makes sense given the fact that he's a fire-based mage. To top it off, you have what appears to be embers dancing around in the frame, further emphasizing that fact. The way this is made is absolutely amazing, as it gives off the clear feeling that the mage is growing more and more enraged before the audio gives the cue, and the curtain falls, falling in line with the feeling of the song. Someone's standing in the way of his mission, and his resolve is hardening before what is presumed to be confrontation- A battle if you will. I know I've said this far too many times already, but I cannot stress it enough. I absolutely love what I've seen of this series and look forward to what Covarche makes of it in the future. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on anything, but alas. This is so well made that I just can't just, well- not compliment it. ^^

I loved how the main male character looked during the "I'll make them hear me!" part (my favorite part of the song). In the show, and in most animatics, people make that line usually anger filled, but the character here looked sad and desperate. He looked tired of not being listened to, and he was ready to finally *be* heard. I love it
