Hey Sarah, The fuel cooler is there to reduce the temperature of the fuel returning to the tank to eliminate the possibility of condensation in the tank. When you pressurize the fuel in the system it heats, whatever returns back to the tank should be cooled. Great video BTW, It's nice to see Mr Dos getting closer to being able to be flogged on a bit!
Yes, it's part of the fuel evap system on USDM vehicles to depressurize the tank. Goes to b-vsv on coolant neck which then allows vapors to go to charcoal canister and eventually is circulated back into the engine through the throttle body ports
Sarah never apologize for who you are. Never apologize for being tired, we can see it in your face. What you can do is fantastic. That's why I keep coming back
You don’t need to apologize ever for your videos. We are happy with your effort and work you put into your cars!!! And my god do i lover your yellow nail polish! It looks so good next to Mr Dos!!!
Moar Videoz!!! There are only so many hours in the day Sarah, don't ever feel like you owe us or you're disappointing us. You're the one putting in the hard, sweaty hours while we're sitting around watching you!
Have to say I love your humor whether you are trying to be funny or not. The best part is you are still making the video interesting. Keep up you hard work as it shows in the high quality of your videos!!!!!!!!
Everytime I'm feeling down on my EJ6 Civic Hatchback, I watch a Mr. Dos video. That EJ6 has been a basket case since I got it 2 years ago. But these videos always inspire me to go back out to the garage and keep tinkering with it. Thanks Sarah!
Amazing series, I watch as soon as I see your alert. Don't apologize, you are a champion mechanic. The little comments, the innuendos, makes the learning so much fun. Keep it up!
You can only do what you can do, and that is still more than a lot of people. This is your project so you set the pace, we will all still be here to watch and root you on.
Nice attention to detail . I'm just a home mechanic but I love the way you try to get the job done right instead of half ass it. I have been fixing little stuff on my vette. I've been teaching myself a lot. Your videos are. Huge help. Thank you
Do you know how nice it is to hear you speak? You are a very rare person who does not us the word UM in your commentary. Well done Sarah your work is excellent and I love listening to you speak and watching your videos (cheeky bits too). I have a soft spot for Toyota's as I have owned many over the years and my late dad was a director of the Toyota company located where we live here in Tasmania, Australia. I also have a soft spot for Audi's as that is what my wife drives these days so love your work on Teeter Tot! Now if we can just get you interested in an early 105 series Alfa............
I wrote it many times but one more time again... Your love to details is amazing...wish the real shops would care about cars this munch. Take your time...your content of building stuff gets never boring.
You are awesome!!! Thanks for the video. You have no idea how much your videos incourage people. I actually started fixing up my garage and follow my passion of detailing cars. It's all because of you. Thank you!!
You should be very proud, you have made MR2 like brand new again and done a very professional job doing it. What a catch, beautiful, funny and very talented. Great job!!!
So Glad to see a Smile & a Twinkle in your eye's again ! Never make excuses for going the extra mile to make it right ! Glad to see Charlie back on the scene your skills complement each other, Well Done !
Don't apologies Sarah, us car guys and girls understand it takes a while to get everything right, you don't cut corners and you make sure everything is solid and working properly and clean and i love that :)
When I plan to reuse coolant, I strain it though a t-shirt back into the jugs. I was recently doing some plumbing work on PVC pipe and got one of those pipe cutter tools. Turns out it works fabulously on all sizes of rubber hoses. Even large radiator hoses or heavy duty AC hoses.
Mid engine cars just require so much more work. A friend had a fiero, and so much of what you do almost brings back the nightmare of the v8 engine swap we did. Kudos to you. That’s just so much work. I guarantee that we all understand.
Hi Sarah, don't beat yourself up about how long it takes to finish the job, it takes as long as it takes and you're doing the right thing by not rushing. Remember if it was easy, then everyone would be doing it!
This video is AWESOME!! Jeez you are extremely talented - dare I say it - genius! Sling an MR2 together meticulously AND film it AND edit it AND dub in the music - in 3-days?!?!?! BTW the tunes totally complimented the assembly. Jimeny you're amazing! Charley is cool too for helpin out. You're an artist Miss Sarah.
I never have any pre-conceived notions of how much you're going to get done in each video. I suspect that's true of the vast majority of your viewers. Your channel is great. Keep doing what you're doing!
You could do one more video or a thousand more videos with Mr. Dos and I wouldn't care, I would watch them all! You are very smart, knowledgeable, and funny and a true inspiration to watch. Keep doing what your doing!
Rubber washers is a great idea and I would agree that it will reduce the vibration that caused the cracking. Reminds me of leaks I get on steel hydraulic lines on my backhoe...it's the vibration of steel bolted to steel.
I think the pipe thing is the fuel line cooler, it would dissipate the heating produced by the fuel pump in the fuel. This is specially important in injection systems, where the fuel also doubles as coolant in the high pressure circuit. First time I see disassemble and reassemble a fuel tank by a single person and with the car barely at the minimum distance above the floor so it can phisically go out. Nice phisical condition, Sarah 😯
Don't feel bad - this is the third RU-vid MR2 series I've watched recently and they are just a painful car to work on! You're doing a great job - the car looks fantastic, is a credit to all your hard work, and will be absolutely worth it when it's on the road. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Sarah you’re videos are so addictive, not only are you thorough your commentary and little double entendres are so funny. I look forward do you getting the Audi back on the road, Also you never have to apologize.
I just have a very superficial grasp of mechanical knowledge and l find it fascinating how good you are , plus the humour and the hotness it has it all , l'm very fond of your channel , Keep up the great work! ✊😎💚
I'm happy for you. It's so satisfying when you finally get to put everything back together and it works. And you have nothing to be sorry for. The whole point of these videos is to watch how you progress and as it happens to be, sometimes there's no progress. May even have to take a step back. That's life.
I saw you struggling with your coolant vac tool. For years I've been using a Matco "air lift". I see they have a new one. AC550500 Air lift ll. I highly recommend, it will save you time and head ache. One thing to keep in mind when using one of these though, the more coolant you get drained out, the better it will work. I enjoy your work! Thanks
Stop killing yourself! We are with you. We've followed you this far along the journey. We are here till the end no matter how far it takes us. Taking your time allows us to learn so much more. Sice you bought Mr. Dos, I've learned so much more about Toyota and gained so much more respect for mine ('01 Camry, not MR2). You inspired me to replace the whole suspension myself and replace the evaporator. I am no longer afraid to take apart the dashboard. You rock!!!
It’s called an ‘evaporative fuel separator ’ ... it’s purpose is to catch fumes (vapor form) and condense them back to liquid. That liquid then drips right back down into the tank.
No apologies needed Sarah! You’re ending up having the world’s cleanest Mr Dos, and that’s an achievement in my book. Excellence takes time! We aren’t in the F1 where a tire change takes a mere 3 secs...... I love your content, high quality, presentation, your penguins you name it.... keep rocking!
Love your dedication and hard work, it's paying off really well, that's the best and most clean built projects I've seen for a MR2. Big up to you! And you're super cute, way more than a penguin. 😋
Sarah I can see the amount of work involved and you have been smashing it. The odd manifold you asked about is a fuel return cooler. Not a big deal mostly but if you were in the snow and filled your car up the cold air ingress could cause condensation to fall out of the air. Like rain inside your fuel tank. It's great to see you getting a bit of help when required as well. It isn't a fail it is optimizing the time and making the important targets. You cant be an expert at everything. As for your glove dispenser use a tissue box holder it works for me. I have never had to bleed the coolant system in one of these however I have found that once filled normally multiple pressure cycles with the manual pressure tester seemed to move the air out/to the high spot pretty quickly. Always done whilst running. Great Video
The people that don't understand how long it takes can go ride a camel backwards. You do some of the best work I have seen, and I am a mobile mechanic that was once ASE Certified. It would be great if the negative folk could keep their comments to themselves. You are wonderful, intelligent, and attractive, 90% of people are extremely jealous. Cheers.
You face each challenge head on without making excuses. You tool kits are labeled-excellent! Your hair auburn? I thought it was brown. Great role model.
I love watching this series but every time I see all those cramped spaces and difficult spots you have to get parts into or jam your arms into I think "Forget that, I'll stick to working on Jeeps!" Keep up the great work Sarah!!
You look like you are pretty much done, the good news is that you are almost there. Can't wait to hear what your MR 2 sounds like and see what it goes like.
0:55 Massive yellow bruise on upper right thigh. @Sarah-n-Tuned , YOU have nothing to apologize for with your commitment, drive and sacrifice in trying to meet your goals. Whether done early, as projected, or late, we all will still be here. Your combination of technical education and entertainment is through the roof!!!!
Hey Sarah, if want to make working on the upper part of the engine bay a little easier. You can remove the rear boot lid witch will turn your boot into a seating area.
