Just want to say thanks. It's nice to get this information from a medical professional. Nothing, in general, I haven't heard before. But while a number of gay men offer up advice around these types of things. I've found it to be to uninformative, inaccurate, or outright unsafe. Kind of surprised and a bit shocked that a doctor wouldn't mention the risk of parasitic transmission in this video. It's one of the biggest potential issues with rimming and some take months or years to go away; some never go away at all.

One thing I had read a long time ago that I think makes sense but contradicts what is said here: do not brush your teeth before oral sexual activities. By all means, use an antiseptic mouthwash, but brushing can create tons of mini cuts/abrasions in your mouth which could increase the risk of infection.

Back in my active days, I found that taking a shower together at first gave me a chance to check out the situation, whether I wanted to pursue Eating Out At The Y. I had such fun and got quite good at it; found out I had a bit of a reputation in our medium-sized town. Ironically, while I enjoyed being the sender, I absolutely refused to be the receiver. 4:10 I remember being recommended to AVOID brushing your teeth for 2 hours before oral sex, as the bristles can cause micro tears in your gums that can increase your chances of getting infected. I forget the source tho...

Dr. H, I loved everything about this💋Gabriel the reason we call it rimming is because we’re moving our tongue around and through the outer “rim” of the anus or vagina. The word rim can be used to describe the edge of any hole, vessel, or hollowed out area. Cups, glasses, and barrels all have a rim. People stand on the rim of the Grand Canyon for the best view. I’m not sure you received this part of the explanation. XO☮️🏳️‍🌈

Very informative. Personally, I find rimming about as appealing as slamming my thumb in a car door, but I know a lot of other guys enjoy including it among their sexual activities. I'm surprised, however, that you didn't mention e-coli specifically, as this is a huge (and potentially fatal) risk posed by rimming. Having contracted e-coli once after handling some soiled linen at a hotel where I was working at the time (and losing 8 pounds in 5 days as a result) and having known someone who died from e-coli and two other people who were hospitalized with it for weeks, I think everyone should be aware of the threat it poses and how easy it would be to contract via rimming.

Dr. Tyler is right about the necessity of having specific sites tested for stis if giving and/or receiving rimming. Fortunately, I have a gay doctor who is completely comfortable with discussing sti testing sites based upon sexual practices. It's best to have a doctor who you can be 100% open with about your sexual habits and who is knowledgeable enough to know what testing is needed as a result of various sexual practices.

There are a lot of STIs and STDs. There are pubic lice or crab louse, giardiasis etc that can also be contacted too. If guys are hairy there are major chances of pubic lice infestation.

The long hairs are perfect for egg laying, blood sucking and growing environments for pubic lice. shower yourself, apply perlice permithrin cream for 20 mins and wash it. This will help in curing pubic lice. There are some meds in treating Giardiasis too.

I would point out that brushing teeth before sexual activity involving the oral cavity can irritate the oral mucosa, rendering those tissues more permeable to microbial agents. In a hurry? Maybe use antiseptic mouthwash instead of brushing.

As an avid rimmer (giving not receiving) it was something i enjoyed immensely, the arousal of my partners was a big turn on. But sadly, the art of rimming took me down , with many gastrointestinal issues and alot of distress. Unfortunately i'll be rimming no more.
