This is my 2nd full year in xlights with 20k show running off 3 kulp and 6 Falcon receivers. This little kit is a PERFECT way to go when I have people walk up to me with the question " who do I get started"?

Great video David 👌, I will definitely keep this video as a reference in case newbies ask me how to get started, for newbie’s it’s also great not have to worry about raspberry pi’s

I think you probably deleted my comment wherever I even left it. Yesterday I was beyond frustrated with the setup. After a year! Well, I went through your videos for the 100th time it seems and.....something clicked! Thanks David! My megatree is already sequenced from so long trying to get it set up. finally!!

Super interesting David! Question, would this basically be the same as getting a Kulp K32A-B controller, some lights and a power supply? You sold me on your controller video on the Kulp products. BUT! This is all SO new to me! I'm as green as a Christmas tree on this!

What enclosures are you using now that the CG-1500 is not available?

This is a great intro. But how can I integrate my 10Ks of 120V incandescent mini-lights into a controller based display?

I’m wanting to get into pixels. I want to start off with just doing my roof line(75ft). Would this be a good kit for something like that?
@krafterHD
@krafterHD 7 месяцев назад
Probably. As mentioned in the video, WiFi isn't great when you have a lot of pixels and but if you're only doing your roof line, then ya, it'll probably do what you want. Just try to keep the controller close to your WiFi router.

Wled Controllers have come a long way, and you should look into how they work before doing a video telling new people about them. Wled controllers are not all wireless and run just as good as some of the higher end xlight controllers. Do your reshearch on wled controllers and xlights before deciding to forgo one.

Sorry to be a killjoy but there is a safety issue here. The Meanwell should have the mains lead pre-attached. Otherwise you are providing a mains lead with live metal ends that could be plugged in and become live and have the ability to kill. Yes I know if you can't wire a plug you shouldn't be doing this hobby, but in the USA somebody gets hurt and you get sued a kazzilion dollars. Yes I know the live ends are still accessible on the Meanwell but hopefully you can see where I'm coming from.

There's an old saying. You can't fix stupid.... There's a countless number of people in this hobby that build their own controller boxes which includes the very minor step of installing the power. If someone is dumb enough to plug it in first before terminating to the power supply first, then they might deserve a little buzz (kidding of course). There's a lot more complicated issues and tasks that arise than a simple termination. If they don't get the basics, then this hobby probably isn't for them.

My previous comment was removed, presumably for talking about other products that are available, i don't know. I guess without mentioning any other brands by name, there are better Wled controllers available for similar prices to this one. With more outputs, upgradable and can also be integrated into xlights, albeit just not necessarily in a semi ready to go kit like this one. But a power supply and several strings of pixels can be bought just about anywhere nowadays. It's always nice to know about other options available.
