Wow. I've watched dozens of crosswind videos for msfs and all of them tell you what you should do but NONE of them show you how to do it. Almost all of them show the view outside the but not the flightstick and instruments. This video made me buy the Fenix A320. Thank you so much.

Thanks, do you think Fenix@MSFS or FF@XP12 handles momentum better when de-crabbing? I find that de-crabbing often causes me to immediately side-drift due of a lack of momentum, and I have to use some wing-low technique.
@Blackbox711
@Blackbox711 Год назад
MSFS 2020 is still a very basic flight simulator when it comes to inertia and aerodynamic simulation. So XP11/12 is definitely better in that regard.

Great video. Just one question at 7:14 if ATC asks for my heading which do I report? The yellow marker or the green diamond treck. Thanks

Hi. Yellow marker heading should be reported

@@Blackbox711 Thanks. Also, on the flare should I hold it or just do a 2 degs pitch up input and back to neutral?
@Blackbox711
@Blackbox711 Год назад
@@birdman4274 it depends on how the aircraft behaves with stick up inputs. You need to practice and get a feel for that. No 2 landings are the same.

@@Blackbox711 Sure. I'm using TCS side-stick on Fenix. There's been an issue with Fenix landings for a while now and I'm still not convinced it's fixed. I used to get better landings on the 32NX.

Hello, I’m an old Boeing pilot thinking about changing to the Airbus. How difficult did you find the transition? Great video, thank you!
@Blackbox711

Hi. I flew Boeing for 16+ years (737 and 747) and then moved to the A320. Initially it took a while to understand the Airbus concept, especially with regards to the flight management/autopilot and Electronic Checklist system. However once that had sunk in, I have to admit that the A320 is a very nice workplace. I thoroughly enjoyed the 12 years flying it.

When I’m trying to land in crosswind, the aircraft is almost always banking to the side so that when i touch down with both wheels. One side is going up again while the other wheel is still on the ground. Do you maybe know why? Because of the strong winds?

@Blackbox711
@Blackbox711 Год назад
OK, then it is a little issue with XP12 where the crosswind effect is overdone on ground. Usually the spoiler extension would kill the majority of lift. However in XP12 that effect is still too weak and so you have to add a little aileron into the wind side to maintain wings level.

@@Blackbox711 is that the same with a320NX (Fly By Wire's) on MSFS ? because i think I have the same kind of problem. When I touch down the plan bank

Would crosswind landings be slightly harder on the 737 due to less automation?I would think they would be in real life.
@Blackbox711
@Blackbox711 8 месяцев назад
I wouldn’t say harder, more a matter of proper training. Both philosophies have their pros and cons.
@russellstrom8234
@russellstrom8234 8 месяцев назад
Ok,that’s politically correct but not much help.😀
@Blackbox711
@Blackbox711 8 месяцев назад
I have flown both types for +5000 hrs each. And all I can say is that I can’t say one is harder to land compared to the other. It is different for sure, but more in the sense of technique and not difficulty.
@se2103

An important Tool not mentioned in this video is Autobrakes. Depending on the crosswind velocity and if Wind Gusts are a factor, I would strongly encourage autobrakes.
@Blackbox711
@Blackbox711 Год назад
Correct. I didn‘t mention that since use of autobrake is always recommended.

After touchdown you dont use aileron on the Airbus as well?
@Blackbox711
@Blackbox711 Год назад
No, that is not necessary.
@Housemucic
@Housemucic Год назад
That's nice. I have one more question though. When you decrab, does the flight by wire automatically compensate the rolling motion side effect of the application of rudder then as well?
@se2103
@se2103 Год назад
Rudder does not control the roll axis of flight. If you’re referring to after landing, you’re in Normal Law “Ground Mode” and control direction(path) of landing rollout.
@Blackbox711
@Blackbox711 Год назад
@@Housemucic The flybywire system is designed to keep the roll rate at zero if the stick is in neutral. So any roll tendency being induced by yaw (secondary effect of the wing moving forward creating more lift and hence roll) should be automatically corrected. However experience shows if the yaw happens very quickly then the flybywire system may be a little slow to react and a roll may happen initially.
@jamesdriscoll4268
@jamesdriscoll4268 Год назад
There is yaw to roll coupling in the sim tho.
