the truth is the broker takes fees, marketing has to be paid, and the agent gets a cut after the brokerage takes their fees and portion...you're right, most people have the wrong impression about how much is earned by most agents

And 20% of the agents are doing 80% or more of the business. There's a very small percentage of agents who are doing a deal a month. Even fewer doing more.

Here is the thing. The pay is based off the overall sales price of the house. Let’s say 5% commission to handle all the paperwork, phone calls, scheduling, and any headaches that come up. And they only get paid when it sells. Sure it sounds amazing making 20-40 grand per house, but that’s because the houses are worth so much right now. Any sales person working on commission only will tell you that people find it unfair once they start making a lot of money. But forgot they made someone else way way way more in the process ……… usually Now what’s the real issue is realtors ethics being thrown out the window more then ever. I swear i have been around politicians, lawyers and bankers most of my life. And most realtors I have meet today are way more slimy

REs must take their share of responsibility for ratcheting up prices for sky high coms. But if someone wants to throw 1.4m on a townhome in Whitby, live and let live 😂 🤡

@@BaldPrairieRealEstate what about a flat rate? .5% is just as arbitrary as 2.5. What are the percentages based on? Serious question.

@@Civilsmith there are flat rate brokerages and agents. Each individual agent will set their commission and the client is more than able to negotiate with them on that.

@@BaldPrairieRealEstate I agree just wanted your take on the actual percentage. Anyone complaining is free to stop, study and become one of the leading ethical agents in their province. I always say don’t hate the players hate the game!
