I love the connection you have to your animals. We should be thankful and sad at the same time. It shows a strong heart and is humbling to know how blessed we are and it feels good to steward properly as we are supposed to. I hunt along with raising my own food and I get emotional for what I hunt because of that connection. Thank you for this video.

This is a really "real" video. I'm so impressed that you were willing to show us this whole process, from the day you picked them up at the post office, to the day you processed them. I also appreciate the fact that you recognize where all good things come from. God bless your family.

I really admire what you’re doing. My mother and a neighbor would process chickens each year and it’s a full day of work. I never liked the killing of the birds but sure loved the meat. Our friend raised the birds and mom got meat in exchange for helping. It was usually a 100 bird processing in the old way with scalding and and killing and plucking. Great video.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on processing your chickens. Homesteaders raise animals to feed their bodies with healthy foods,,,, Although processing animals is not a joyous activity it is a necessary one and should be done with respect.

Just stumbled on to your channel and had to sud you. What really got me after watching a few vids was the pray circle scene. To truly understand where your food comes from one most give thanks to the Lord and ask for his guidance and love through such grueling work. May GOD hold you all in the palm of his hand. Great channel guys.

Outstanding work. You should be super proud of yourselves for growing your own meat chickens. Take it one or 2 steps further. Add 6 to 8 turkeys and and maybe 1 or 2 pigs. The turkeys you process them just like chickens. The pigs you could do it yourself or take them the butcher that way you could get good cuts and ground pork to make your own sausage and bacon. I think you would really do great at raising your own pork, chicken, turkeys and may be you could raise your own pheasants, ducks and geese.

Yestersy my husband and i finished in three days 28. I am a dragging today but they are in the freezer. We got what was called red rangers and boy never agin these were the sorriest looking dressed out birds i ever seen my scale broke but they was so skinny i do not think they were meat birds they looked like an old hen the others were cornish cross and they were nice sized an big. Oh we pick by hand not bad of a job with the white cornish but those red one oh my like i said never again the pin feathers too longer on the four we had then white ones took. Glads it over with for another year but lessons learned on the seller and hatchery. Your lucky you had help. If your going to raise another batch you need a bigger freezer ours is full now.

What did you think of the Primal Pasture operation? I have heard very good science out there.
@SowtheLand

They are doing amazing things over there. I have seen them grow from day 1 When they were doing it in there parents backyard! This was just 4 yrs. ago! I took workshops in there parents backyard and then when they moved to more acres. Very simple operation. Much like Polyface farms. Primal pastures is taking it to another level! Much love for those guys!
