Actually joka buri is a type of Yaksha. In the old times the Bengali zamindars sacrificed particular children with mohar or gold coins. The school was KV Kathmandu as I was also there for 3 years as my father had his posting from 2015 to 2018 and I could picture everything you told even the tents we lived during the earthquakes . my mamu, jokaburi killed him.... hum odisha mein rehte hain aur mere namu digha (odisha bengal border) mein rehte thee and 2 saal pehle unka dehant hoo gaya talab mein doob ke, and unko swimming bhi ati thi and woh pond bhi jyada gehra nhi tha.... afternoon ke time suddenly woh baas pond mein nahane gye thee but all we got was his body, he didn't even screamed at that time people were saying it's a spirit but we don;'t know their name like jokaburi

In Assam, jokhaburi is known as pihaseni. It has very long hair. Assamese people also believed that when a newly married couple and babies are born pihaseni used to come to see them at night

My chachu was a victim of something similar to this. When he was born a witch disguised as an old woman came to our house. Idk everything regarding this because my grandmother never told us about it. She still cries and yearns for her son. Unfortunately i never saw my chachu as he died before i was born. That witch cursed her when he was born. My grandmother went to a pant, he told her that either my grandmother will stay alive or my chachu. My grandmother is still alive but my chachu died.
