We continue our series playing through the original RCT scenarios with Dynamite Dunes. This park has the first prebuilt coaster that most players came across as well as some fairly tall terrain in the center of the map. But there's plenty of space to work with, so let's build some rides and theming on this sandy map!
Let's keep in touch! There's a lots of ways to connect with my RCT and Coaster related content. We'd love to have you as part of our little community!

This is the best RCT series I’ve watched so far!

I didn't think I'd ever see a replacement of Dynamite Blaster that I actually like more than the original, but that 'real life' minetrain works incredibly well in the space as if it was meant to be there from the beginning - great work!

Thank you! It fit in there way better than I expected it to and I'm pretty happy with the result.

Loved the redesign on Dynamite Blaster! Yes, the original is iconic, but it was cool to see how you replaced it with something equally as good. Thanks for the video!

Rct 1 did have reverse incline for the junior coaster! Loving this series so far! By the way forgot to comment on your last video but I got so excited when you mentioned Phoenix from knoebels. Ive been going there all my life and I currently live 15 minutes away so I go fairly often. Twister is still my favorite but love the Phoenix too!

Oh good-- well we're definitely making good use out of that reverse incline (spoiler for Leafy Lake!). Knoebels is one of my favorites. I grew up in Lancaster, so very familiar with the park and I'm friend with Rick Knoebel and their family. I love getting back up there.

Great to hear! These have been a lot of fun and fairly different compared to my usual heavily themed custom scenery things.

As someone going into the management side of the industry, these vids are incredibly helpful to communicate with the design folk. Helps me understand the process a bit more, even if it’s represented in a bit of a limited sandbox like RCT. It will help a great bit when I’m in my Cedar Fair RAAM classes this summer and fall. Would love to talk at IAAPA Expo this fall if you plan on attending. Your videos are greatly appreciated in Sandusky!

Great to hear! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions I can answer about the industry. We can always use more theme park management folks who are passionate about the industry. Good luck on your journey!! I'm not yet sure if I'll be at IAAPA Expo this year as I'm about to move to the other side of the world for a new role in the industry-- but I hope to be. Would be happy to get together!

Great job with this park, Brian! I really like the chairlift that passes above the mine train quarry and the launched freefall that is nestled into the coaster. The splashdown lagoon for the log flume also looks awesome!

Loving this series so far, it's giving me a lot of ideas in terms of landscaping. I always build an oasis somewhere in this park, but I like the way you built a wall and raised the ground for the Merry-Go-Round, it's a neat touch that I never thought of.

It's always fun to see how different people approach a scenario and the little things they tend to always do on a map. Thanks for watching!

22:46 In RCT1 you could make a prebuilt Whoa Belly and it would remember how tall it is & how fast the launch speed was, which you could optimize for RCT1 by building it tall enough & at the correct launch speed for an intensity just below 8. 37:20 It'd be nice to see the stats.
@AmusementAcademy

Good thought on the standard model S&S tower. I know it doesn't take much to adjust, but I'm also kind of lazy when it comes to these things! The stats are 5.79 / 6.44 / 2.98 which I suppose is not bad for one of these types of rides. I tend to forget to look at the stats so thanks for the reminder.

In RCT1 you can actually charge both entrance and ride tickets.
@AmusementAcademy
@AmusementAcademy 2 месяца назад
You can, but I always felt like that was kind of cheating-- or at least emptied guests pockets faster so they'd have to leave since I didn't have a cash machine. So I tend to pick on or the other.

7:00 You know the log flume can do steep drops too, right ? The steep drop pieces have been drawn, but not the log sprites unfortunately.
@AmusementAcademy
@AmusementAcademy Месяц назад
I do! But to get that you have to check the 'enable all drawable track pieces' cheat and we're doing this series largely without using extras like that.
@DoritoTime

All you have to do in admission parks is build enough rides to charge the maximum that all guests bring, then advertise, and most importantly, do NOT build the cash machine
@DoritoTime
@DoritoTime 2 месяца назад
Guests that have no money will immediately leave, allowing more guests to spawn and pay the entry

Guests love to sit when they grab something to eat or drink. Do you like to max out the paths for seats (and then bins) around the stalls? Is there an in-game effect/difference between sit-eating vs walk-eating?
@AmusementAcademy
@AmusementAcademy 2 месяца назад
To be honest I don't know! That's probably a good question for Marcel Vos-- he may have already answered it perhaps. I just know that it's a real thing with parks about correlating the amount of benches and bins especially around food and beverage areas so I like to make sure I have good coverage in my parks too.

I have so many comments about what to name the coasters…I think you should propose 12 names then let everyone vote then chose the one no one likes….
@AmusementAcademy
@AmusementAcademy Месяц назад
I should do that with color selections too. Maybe design it, receive the costs, and have to design it over again to get more stuff for less money. I should also probably have all of this built by year 1 instead of year 3. Must be contractors that just don't want to work.

Loving the series so far. I found the speed to be a little fast in this one. I'm not sure how much it's sped up, but it was past the point of being a little disorienting for me. I know that slowing it down would lengthen the video and require more commentary, but maybe if that's a burden, you could cut out some of the more mundane decorating parts.
@AmusementAcademy
@AmusementAcademy 2 месяца назад
Thanks for that feedback! It's 6x at the moment. I suppose I should think about trying to leave the camera static for longer. I don't usually think about it while building. But that's a good suggestion to go slower. Questions then: - You would prefer a longer video with slower speed? Like 4 or 5? - At what length of video would you want to see it split into 2 videos?
@wesleynewcomb
@wesleynewcomb 2 месяца назад
@@AmusementAcademy I know 4x is totally fine for me. 5x might be okay. And really, 6x might be okay if the camera doesn't pan or rotate so much. That was just very jarring. I think the sweet spot for video length is 20 minutes, but that may just be me. I really like MickanMan's videos, and he seems to divide by in-game year. But then you'd have to be mindful of what you're doing in game based on the year, which is probably a pain.
@AmusementAcademy
@AmusementAcademy 2 месяца назад
Right-- it's definitely hard to plan that out as well as he does. But it's a good note to have. My Leafy Lake video is already done and that's at 6x I'm afraid. Hopefully I spun the camera less. Starting with Diamond Heights I'll slow down the speed and probably break it in 2.
