Who else thought I looked too low on short final? 👀 Not used to these graphics yet!! Gonna need to play more! 🤓 EDIT: To everyone commenting & asking if I'm left handed or why I 'reversed' the joystick/throttle: I MESSED UP ahahaha. I just 'flew' how I am used to flying in the real plane so I used the joystick in my left hand and throttle in my right!! But I will absolutely give the other way a shot! Thanks for the suggestions everyone!!
I think it's fine unless you're dealing with a strong cross wind. A Cessna can drop altitude on final. If you have to implement a serious crab, it's best to approach a bit higher. This simulator is awesome! So touch responsive. Absolutely love it. A must have! Blessings Tytytyty Xo
Even more depressing that she got sent that yet no one else can even buy them, there isn't a yoke of any quality in stock anywhere in Canada apparently :(
nah, twist more comfortable, you can feel legs free and put them anywhere, and twist is more intuitive, as natural complementation to roll and pitch axes, but! for real pilot mandatory to use rudder pedals, so as not to acquire harmful patterns
Funny enough, Airliner companies don't you to know how often pilots royally wreck landing gears dropping on the numbers in smaller airports. (its not a huge deal for passengers outside of a bumpy landing. But it doesn't sound good in advertising :P)
I've noticed a lot of pilots overcontrol when you put them in non-motion flight sims. I think it's because there's no feedback from G-forces that let you feel how effective your input is, so you end up putting in too much. Takes some getting used to!
I remember a story about real pilots having a harder time than kids piloting Santos Dummond's 14-bis in a simulator with a replica of the original stick during an aviation expo.
I think it's fun to see so many pilots all excited about this game, not just us gamers/enthusiasts. Happy to say I've managed 1/4 landings in the A320neo so far; I think I'm ready for my license.
Trick is go nice and slow so the auto throttle dosent flip to go around power lol basically you gotta come in on the perfect slope with about 140kts or the throttles automatically go toga
The people who are giving this software bad reviews list problems with it that are mostly related to bad setting or just not understanding how things work. People who know love it.
@@pemirkovich9 I know right like people complaining about download times on day one like bro i bet 50k plus people tried downloading day one and thats 105gb each so of course its gonna be slow server side, basically this game is the new crisis, its not meant to run well on current hardware so it can be pushed further as graphics cards become more powerful
Except the fact that the gear didn’t come off and a big menu came up and said you crashed . I like to land with landing gear broken with my xplane in VR, and running 2 monitors for charts and pilot2atc!
Ive been on the front row of a Ryan air flight in thick cloud, and heard the 'terrain - Pull up' bark out from the other side of the cockpit door. the pilot knew we were landing but it seems the plane didn't. shat my self for a few seconds though :P
Thanks for that, great to see a young pilot really enjoying herself on the Simulator. I am almost 70 years old and have been flying simulators since my forties when they began. Over the years people wonder why I play this game as they call it, being disabled I have managed to teach myself the systems of the cessnas up to the private jets which I love the best. When this Simulation by Microsft jumped this far forward I was astonished. I am able to fly both business jets using all startup, in flight and landinģ procedures through FMC and ILS due to FSX and XPlanes. I smile when young and middle aged simmers who spend more time looking out the window are totally lost by not learning the best part which is instrument and situation awareness control of these aircraft. To see a real pilot enjoying the experience is heartwarming, keep smiling and flying, and stay safe. John (UK).
I'm a mirror of you, John. 71, been flying MS since ~1989, through all the upgrades and I love flying the regional jets. I bring up the Instrument procedures, file flight plans. I planned and flew the CRJ-700 around the world! What an adventure and planning was everything. I used real world environment, had to plan my fuel, etc. I have bought the MSFS2020 and also a brand new mac-daddy made to order PC, just waiting to find the right screen, controls to purchase. I want to be able to have a gaming monitor that I can also use for some business applications like WORD, EXCEL and also to get into Citrix environments. Again, thanks for your comments.Don
I always had a thing for airplanes, would like to get an actual license down the road. having a powerful xbox series X has me excited to play this very realistic sim on it and experience it.. Maybe itll be more than a game, but a stepping stone towards a lifelong goal,, license.
I just love watching Real Life Pilots flying this sim,As old timer Simmers ,it's such a great joy to see your reaction to how close to your experience this can get . As virtual Pilots we can only admire your persistence in achieving a commercial pilots licence, and this is as close as we can get to your world.Thank you for your enthusiasm. PS: The Majestic Dash 8 was one of my fave Aircraft to fly in FSX ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-11m_nFCnFh8.html
That was my question. Does FS do helicopters? I might have to get into this and maybe it would help me with preparing for ATC call proceedures etc. It looks great.
@@Oz_Gnarly_One Apparently we can hack the FSX Dash 8 into MSFS, but I'm not too sure I want too. I'd rather wait and get one that's msfs specific and hopefully more accurate.
@@spy2778 Options > Control > Choose your stick > Sensitivity, lower the sensitivity of Pitch and Roll so it's not linear and set dead zone between 3-5% depending on your preference.
Would love to see you take us to some of your African airfield's you visited when working for the UN. That would be cool! Company called Majestic have a really good study level Q400 for FSX/P3D. I expect they will make it for MSFS too!
Their most recent update, back in March, indicated they’re going to be bringing out a version of their Q400 (which is considered one of the most accurate and completely-simulated aircraft available for Prepar3D, for those who don’t know it) for MSFS2020, but gave no time frame - I think it’s safe to say they weren’t expecting Microsoft to release it this soon.
Emilie, There will be continous upgrades and patches for years to come! The map for example is a real live map that updates as changes are made! the same goes for planes, as new planes are released the developers will release a patch! The best thing however is the VR headset! This game is a masterpeice!
@pilot emilie The simulator will have a very long shelf-life. It's full capabilities, today, exceed the power of the current high-end for GPU and CPU. I'm running at 3840 x 1600 on a 2080 GPU and i9 9900K CPU. On the tarmac and in the air around ORD, with "ultra" I'm at only 30ish FPS.
@@tubeflorian I have a ryzen 7 2700xt and it doesn't ever tax it(25%). the GPU however is a major bottleneck I can get between 42 and 33 fps with vega 64 undervolted and overclock. definately playable but room for improvement. settings at high not ultra (3440 x 1440)
The world is based on bing maps, which are very out of date (with many players reporting them to be 5 - 10 years out of date), they're certainly not live and updated in real time (how would that even work?) But they're still good and if you must you can just imagine you're flying 5 years ago.
Yeap, it definitely needs some with full implementation. The stock A320 will be ok once they fixed the bugs but it is not enough simulated. So yeah, can't wait for studios to release full planes
I hope, Majestics will implement their awesome Dash8 in this simulator. That would be awesome! @Emilie when you install Prepar3D as well, there is this Q400 already running. And this is very good simulated. But the scenery at stock is not that nice like MSFS. There you would need many add-ons to make it nice.
Ton answer your question early on Emilie if noones already told you (Ive not read all the comments) theyre planning a whole load of DLC packs down the line both free and paid so chances are you will be able to get your hands on a Dash 8 sooner or later (they're also fully supporting third party devs and community content so be patient!) Theyre also adding VR support as if it could get any more mind blowing visually!!!!
the community content for this game is probably gonna be immense, i look forward to see what gets done. Larger modding communities these days are capable of giving some post-launch dev teams a run for their money. Although, this is microsoft were talking about.
I tuned in to see what a pilot thought of FS 2020. I was absolutely entertained. You had me laughing on you landing. I have been siming for 10 years and that reminded me of one of my better landings when I first started. ( my worst completely missing the runway or running off the runway) It will most likely take you a few more tries to get the feel of it. It took me a month to finally land safely. ( in FSX) loved the video.
Those inputs are SO smooth, I can't handle smaller aircraft without moving all over the place. Even the controlled flight into terrain was pleasant to watch
Hi Emily. Great video. Q400 is awesome. My uncle was the lead engineer in charge of the the Dash 7 and 8, Buffalo and Otter. He got his start at AVRO where he was project lead on the tail section of the Arrow. After the cancellation, a bunch of his buddies left for NASA but he stayed North. Continued success with your flying career.! Cheers, Kevin!
Hi Emilie. Don't sweat it. i have over a 2000 hrs in both gliders and power, from twins to sports aircraft and nearly 600 hrs flying glider tugs. Yet Landing a flat screen sim has always been difficult for me. But....... The first time I tried it in VR I nailed it every time. Am definitely interested in giving fs2020 a go in VR . p s I would love you to do a review on one of the airliners. How accurate are its systems etc.
VR is coming thank god... I don't do flat screen very well either... not since I have VR... On a flat screen you don't get a sense of scale making it so much more difficult to land properly, also VR is so much better in spacial awareness... I can still butter landings on a flatscreen.. you just need to get your info in a different way... visual is just unreliable...
Who needs a real licence when you can have this much fun hey Em ;) i wanna get one of those vibrating seat things and VR and im set for life lol also you can use the mouse to look around click the centre mouse wheel for easy looking for vision and great video btw
I'm a bit late to the party for this vid, but I did catch your hopes for a Dash-8 in the future. The good news is that Majestic Software did release a statement back in August saying that they hope to be able to publish their Q400 (and possibly Q300) for FS2020 in the future. Don't hold your breath though, as it could take them a year or 3. Their Q400 for Flight Simulator X was utterly amazing, and offered true study-level simulation, so its definitely worth watching the horizon for that.
You basically showcased what I like about flight sims. You can fly wherever you want and check out different places in the world. And with fs2020 using satellite maps and such with that 3D photogrammetry, it'll be better than it ever was before to virtually travel in the sim.
Asobo promises a decade worth of development and updates. But to answer your question, dozens of third party devs will continuously implement scenery and aircraft add-ons. There was an incredible Dash-8 payware model for FSX. I imagine someone will eventually make one.
Pilot Emilie, There is a company called Majestic Software which are currently on P3D/FSX with a Q400 Link ( majesticsoftware.com/mjc8q400/ ). They havenn't yet stated any plans to port there aircraft over to the new MSFS 2020 yet but I am sure they will along with other developers as the sim matures and improves :)
Smiling the whole time :) Love it. I just started flying this with a VR headset. It is mind blowing. I used to fly single engine aircrafts IRL and the sim in VR is pretty close to the real thing on a good PC. I just hope they include hand / finger tracking in the future so we can press buttons, switches, throttle, yoke etc. That would be amazing.
@@TheEdge92 The only airline currently providing scheduled services to and from Yrausquin Airport is locally owned Winair, which operates daily flights to Sint Maarten aboard a de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter.[9] On average, flights to Sint Maarten last no longer than 15 minutes.[10] If you have some further information regarding the King Air being a "mission standard" there, whatever that means. Would appreciate it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juancho_E._Yrausquin_Airport
I just started playing the new Microsoft Flight Simulator on XBOX Series X. It's super clunky with a controller, so I just ordered a flight control system by Turtle Beach (VelocityOne). Looking forward to using it. Cool video, fun to watch!
You were trying to use every last inch of that teensy runway eh? 😁 At the last second I was like oh no she not gonna make it! Boom lol. Great vid, fun to watch, thanks! Also, there are different views you can use, there is a "landing" view that sits you up a bit so you can see the approach better over the dash.
Subscribed to support. This covid thing as an absolute travesty for airline industries. Hope you'll be back flying blue skies rather soon! Cheers from Vancouver (in Penn State currently.. locked away from home in Canada).
X52 and Elite Dangerous for evs + VR . Signed in for the first time . Grabbed an A320 flew local airport to another 50 miles away . Landed on wrong runway - but got us there. C'mon VR integration for FS2020.
My friend is a truck driver, I was following his route from mobile to Jacksonville last night, it was raining and dark and really windy. so I think it mimics real conditions as best it can. I know it is pretty up to date, My Dad built his shed in the last year and it was there. my house that was only 2 years old was there. And some of the construction near my house was indeed present. So I think the server updates often.
A series of tutorials on take off, cruise, and landing settings for each plane would be great! The sim only explains a 152. And even that isn't great. Then you have to go lookup how to fly everything else they stick you in.
About the constant update: As far as I know, the world is auto generated based on Satellite Images from Bing Maps. So if the maps get updated, the game will be up to date too.
Hey Emilie nice seeing you fly the MSFS2020. Love your reactions. Actually both a more in depth from your point of view and some tutorials will be nice. Flight sims are definitely so much fun and got to agree from what you have shown so far how amazing the graphics are. Have a good week
I have to show your vid to my wife. She likes the sim but gets stressed out quite a bit landing. The sim can put you in the enmersion zone. I know I've feel the adrenaline on a regular basis. Anyone thinking an actual pilot is going to automatically ace it on flight sim within days of sim release may be wrong. We took a flight in a small bubble chopper some years back. Talking with the pilot on the way back my wife mentioned that I fly RC choppers. The pilot said, "I have a tough time with those things, doesn't always end well" ...just as we are coming into an actual landing... They're not quite the same, just like Sims. Different feedback and no G force. Great vid though, on the edge of my seat watching your approach. Been hooked on the Activities landing at Llanada Grande, Chili airstrip. My best is 1.45 million pts so far. 1.9 mill for top landing score.
This was actually kinda fascinating. Watching someone who actually really knows what they’re talking about when it comes to flying planes take this on was great!
Salut !
Found your channel in my recommended vids. I'm a long time flight simmer (since the late 80s) and am learning the new MSFS now. I saw your other flight sim vid and it made me laugh. Hope you'll be able to get back to work in the near future.
There is a “drone” view. Where you can glide around without the plane. You can go all the way down to street level. However once you go street level, things start to look weird like you are in bizarro world.
If you want an even more realistic experience, get signed up with VATSIM, (Virtual Air Traffic Simulation Network) that way you can talk to ATC just as you would during every stage of flight in your Dash-8. They have thousands of virtual air traffic controllers (real people) all over the world, and it’s free! Also, you should get Track IR. It’s a device you wear on your head that allows you to look around when flying without pushing any buttons. Really enjoyed the video and would like to see more, especially something in depth, like a full flight using VATSIM. Some people are intimidated by it but since you talk to ATC all the time when flying in real life, you already know the lingo and everything associated with it!
Someone get this lady Majestic Software’s version of their Q400. I’d love to hear what she thinks of it in terms of how realistic it is. Hopefully they release it for Flight Sim 2020.
Not gonna lie, during the landing I was thinking "even if she's a real pilot, shouldn't she have gone through the tutorial missions so it'd tell her where the button is for the flaps?" Turned out not to matter! lol :D I just picked up FS2020 a few days ago with ZERO prior sim experience and zero real flight experience. (Except as an airline passenger of course.) Absolutely loving it, and loving these videos from pilots! So yes, please do those videos you had ideas on. By the way, there's a copilot function in the game, even on single-seater airplanes, so you can have your copilot manage ATC and things like that if you want so you can focus on flying. Having a second monitor is really helpful too, since the windows can be popped out and moved off of the game onto your second monitor and arranged to your liking. (Note, if you move the mouse onto one of those outside windows, the game won't respond to your joystick until you click back into the game.)
Don't bend those Q400's, please. It took me days to get all the goose guts out of N414QX after that bird strike back when I worked for Horizon Air. Keep us A&Ps happy.
