At the end of the day this isn’t a cheap hobby, plain and simple. No need to apologize Jesse, we’re here for all the good expensive parts!

The guy that taught me cars/trucks used to say “spending right is cheaper than spending less”. So true. It’s not always about just buying the most expensive thing on the market, but making sure that what you’re buying is the best use of your budget.

As a customer of yours for a few years now I can in fact say that you've probably saved me thousands by helping me buy the correct parts the first time around. I think the level 7 website is a great place to buy quality parts as I know you wouldn't sell a part that didn't meet your high standards. Please keep those videos rolling they are the highlight of my week!!!

Although my current “budget” doesn’t allow for some of these great parts, it doesn’t mean that I can’t aspire to obtain them at some point even though I am building the truck one upgrade at a time. I find the technical know how and tribal knowledge you share invaluable, even if I choose different parts to obtain the end result wanted, I have some idea of what that part will do and won’t do. Thanks for the channel, keep grinding.

Saw a sticker on the back of a hauler few years back waiting to get trough the gates at the local drag strip. Cheap shit ain't cool and Cool shit ain't cheap! There is a reason most of us are watching and it isn't because we want you to build a POS.. Keep up the good work so we can dream and maybe someday achieve.

Great video Jesse. I would love to be able to build a truck like y'all do or even better have y'all to build me one. But the reality of that happening is zero to none. I love your videos and builds sir please keep them coming. It's not a cheap hobby but it's one that I deeply love.

I could have used this video 5 years ago. I couldn’t wait to get out on the road so bought what I could afford (fast) and not what I needed, just so I could have a driver. I always thought, I’ll just sell it all when I can afford the right brakes, right drivetrain etc. It doesn’t work like that. I wasted so much money. Hindsight is always 20/20. It’s much better to do it right the first time even if it takes a year+ longer.

“Redundant spending” man you hit the nail on head… I know about that
@ScottRichardson-hh6pt

Indeed it does matter as Robbie points out BUT like you point out buying the correct parts the first time and learning how to achieve the final product is by far more important. I have a clean 98 that is going towards a pro touring platform and I listen, watch and learn from you Jesse so keep it coming man. Even us guys on a budget gain valuable knowledge much like the affordable frame stiffening kit. A person who cannot afford an entire chassis can improve a stock one just fine. I certainly appreciate it and your tips. Clearly you have an advantage over the budget garage guy but again we all gain from your sharing. Thanks man

You are 100% correct. Even guys with LS powered cars from the factory. Just gonna do a cam, then heads, then boost. You end up buying parts twice, and the best part now, may not be the best in the future, not to mention dyno time and likely money for a tune at each step. A car can be built in stages to an extent but people need to take a methodical and realistic look at goals, costs, budget, and time. HPDE guys go from track events to a race class run into this too. I know a nice set of JRZ triples for sale as the owner had to run a spec shock for his class. Just other examples of money spent twice outside of broken parts, which.. who wants to be wrenchng on their stuff to fix what you previously spent money? While missing an event they were looking forward to.

Much appreciated… I have to do things a lil at a time and it sucks to buy parts now to find out later they won’t work with where I am headed. Can’t wait to see what you got and how you explain things for someone like me that would love to get into it but no idea where to start
@Racer413
@Racer413 4 месяца назад
If you can eliminate redundant spending then that makes a expensive part "Budget" in the race world. I remember people pointing out your wheels in the comments last video. Spending two grand on a SINGLE set of wheels is budget when you consider most people will end up buying the cheapest set they can find. Then before long they'll buy another set because the first set was to heavy, or to narrow, or tire selection for that diameter is bad. When at the end of the day you'd end up spending thousands on several sets of wheels that you "thought" you needed or wanted, but were the wrong ones leading them to then for example buying a set like you did.

And if you are just driving to town and back with a 9" wide wheel you won't run into this issue. BUT if you plan to go racing with a 315 wide rear tire, you will need this info! Thanks for watching!

Yeah people get it confused that the word budget is a very broad word. I mean you stated out with a 25k obs truck. However I love what you are doing in this channel I think it's awesome

AGAIN, this is an entry level competition vehicle. This series shows how to do it by yourself with parts that work. The point is that you don't need to have a shop build you a $150k plus truck. You can buy off the shelf parts, and with a little bit of knowledge, have fun. So yes, this fits my definition of saving money. If you're looking for a 5.3 swap with a junkyard harness you will have to look somewhere else.
@SaneCayne

@@level7motorsports Totally get it, Jessie. This is "budget" compared to the trucks you build for customers and the higher end builds you compete against in your series. We love what you're doing. And we thank you for investing in the time and effort to pass along all this great info! 👍👍 Us truly budget guys (full build for $15-25k-ish) are just hung up on you using the word "budget" from the outset. It's all relative.

@@level7motorsports no I completely understand That's what I was saying is that people have a different understanding of what budget is I fully understand that what you're doing on the budget that you're doing it at is where it needs to be I like what you're doing with the channel that's what I was trying to say I apologize if it come off the wrong way

I'm 90 seconds in and I already don't agree with your pandering to the comments. Build what you want to American public, WITHIN your given budget and stop complaining! Jesus. You've built a business, OBVIOUSLY, doing something a lot of people like, so keep doing it. If folks can't afford the type of build you, me or the RoadsterShop can build then maybe they need to look at getting a 2yr degree in automotive wthe to build what they expect someone to do for $20 an hour. . . . This is exactly why I decided to build for me and only me 20yrs ago. . . #crybabies
