Real thoughts on some New Crochet hooks 

They are beyond gorgeous but I'm like everyone else here...don't drop..I have lupus I drop everything and I mean EVERYTHING.....their art...maybe put them in a shadow box to admire but not touch...after my parents died in 2012 and 2018 my husband took all my dad's tools( of which he had many and some were 50years old) and put them in shadow boxes for my brother his kids and ours as mementos..it's a thought ...love your honesty, and your enthusiasm ❤❤❤

I like the feel of Furls hooks, but I definitely agree that if it's experimental, it should have a more affordable price

You're right, the tray is absolutely gorgeous!! But honestly, with the cost of epoxy resin lately, the price about right...😒 I was looking at a adorable 6" resin decorative light & it was $60!!!!! 😲 Unfortunately, I noped. I think that the logo should have been on top instead of the bottom since you can see it.....

I LOVE the comparison you made of the hooks to a magic wand "they do magic by turning strings into things". Fingers crossed, I ordered an ommi rainbow yesterday! Also a red and blue one. I have so many new hooks I'm going to stop buying more. I still have every hook I've ever owned in 75 years, lol. My favorite is the small length wood j size hook my grandfather made for my grandmother. By time I got she had it used to most beautiful finish. It crochets like butter. I have inherited hooks for 3 family members. I have tons of hooks but have been buying ergonomic hooks. I have all my favorite sizes. PS I bought 2 furls and will never spend that much again on hooks that I don't like how they split yarn.

I love the Ommi resin hooks. I don't like the knes that are smooth handle. I prefer the ones that have the bulbous texture ones. I dont care for Furls hooks. I love the new Daiz hooks. They are my favorite hooks now! The moonstone is gorgeous. The pink swirl is so pretty and the black glitter is pretty too. The heads are a bit more pointed, which i love. 😊😊

Jennifer, if you use the back side of a finishing sandpaper, it is a trick furniture craft people use. (My dad was a craftsman. ) It will smooth the finish out, removing air bubbles and rough finish due to sanding particals in the air that settles in the finish.23:20

I got that same info after buying those hooks. I’m thinking it was done intentionally. I thought for experimental merchandise, Furls, failed to put all that information on their website until after purchases otherwise I wouldn’t have bought them. That’s ridiculous. Ommi hooks are also my absolute favorites. I’ve those Ommi hooks you showed. I was pleasantly surprised when I got mine. Gorgeous. My 10 yr old niece said “it looks the sea and sand in our island”. Yes, you did create the buzz abt them. The Furls black & silver is called Moonlight

I have bought a furls hook before, loved it, and it broke a month later. I will likely buy more in the future, but I absolutely won’t buy something that’s even more fragile (as beautiful as they are!) Thank you for the honest review 🙂

I just got some Omni and Furls hooks and while I like the way they feel in my hand, they were sticking with the yarn, so I'm going to try the tips you gave of washing them or rubbing them on jeans. Thank you so much for that. That return policy on the experimental hook is disturbing in terms of a company not standing behind their product.

I love ommi hooks i buy them whenever my check comes in. I use boyy too! I want that one you have.

The new, Nautilus hooks and tray really are gorgeous, but I appreciate your candor on this review of them. I'd be scared to use em, too! Holy crow, that glitter Ommi hook... I'm having major fomo! I have the rainbow ones, but that tricolor one... 🤩 I have also broken the tip off of an Ommi hook. It was a 5mm and I was using cotton. I didn't drop it, just pulled a stitch through and the tip snapped off. ☹️ I love the inline hooks and know that the resin ones can do that. The furl hooks are very pretty. I don't like the shape of furl hooks, but they are pretty to look at. I agree the price is not right, especially since they might break easier.

I agree they are gorgeous, but I bought the odyssey hooks and I found them too heavy to use. I use a pencil hold and they were awkward for me. I do have an Ommi hook from Amazon and because it’s a lighter hook it is easier to work with. My favourite hooks are Susan Bates. Because they’re metal they are light and so smooth to work with. With the beautiful furls streamline Nautilus. The policy is tough but at least they offer something. Ommi does not. Bought the beautiful pink one and it broke already...to fragile. So no more purchases there either. Thanks for honest review😃 Keep hookin😜🤪😝

I bought one of these hooks when they first came out. I saw the warning, so maybe you got there before me. But I like $38 Canadian and yeah, they are stupid expensive but they are the prettiest ones I’ve seen from Furls. I did drop it (9mm) it did not break but my heart stopped.

Tooth brush or tampon holders work well as travel cases. Same with swimsuit bags it keeps stuff dry

I got one of the hooks you got, the wood black and yellow,I love. It does where down its not Rough any more. My furls hook, which is like the test ones, it got lost in the mail. I'll never see it and I'm out that money.😢

I have so many of the streamlines in my collection. I parted with almost all my Odysseys because honestly I couldn’t complete the sets now that they are discontinued. And I switched back to clovers for affordability sakes

I have a get crafty hook in 4mm. It was a bit sticky, but after I used it for a bit it smoothed out. It’s supposedly rose wood. I kind of like it. I have been using it with cotton yarn, floofy stuff like mohair might not work well with it though.

I just got the Susan Bates twist&lock deluxe set and I just love them. I glad that I got them.

Afternoon jen it's so cold today in birmingham uk 🇬🇧 sat with fire on a blanket and a hot cuppa 😊. My largest crochet hook is a 10mm which I was given as my friend didn't use it. I have made myself a crochet hook roll to keep my hooks from rolling around and they are easy to find.

I loved the ommi black and white so much I purchased a whole set, and I also bought a wood set. The wood is harder to use but I still like them.

I do not use one style or any big handle. I'm an underhandshare I gressed a like your holding a pencil. Don't like any of those hucks. Thank you so much for sharing. I seem to stick with what words and that's the clover. I learned how to cross a with a boy's and if I had to go back to metal hooks, it would be a boy's thank you.

I only buy clover hooks with hand made ergonomic handles. I get the metal hook i love with a handle that massages my hand when i crochet.

Furls are out of my price range so I have a nice collection of Omni hooks and I absolutely love them!

Good morning Jen! So I did splurge also on furls when they had a few sales going on. I did get the moon one, Sagittarius and Capricorn. I do want the Gemini both but I’m waiting for the smaller sizes. I waited on the nautilus because they are beautiful but I had already bought the moon and like you saw the price was different from the rest. So I left it at that and got me a few ommi hahaha. And Jen that’s the exact rainbow one I bought!!!!

Beautiful hooks for sure! I have not been able to afford Furls, but I love my Ommi hooks! I like the wood ones though lol I have a black one and a natural color one . I plan on trying the resin ones next as they are so pretty. I mainly crochet with metal hooks, Boyd and Bates, I even have a iron one I picked up somewhere! You should put your Furls on display at least the ones you don't use a lot. They would look gorgeous on the wall in like a picture frame like display. Or a shadow box display that way you can admire them when not in use. Thank you for sharing! I love seeing them

Good morning! It's cold in South Carolina too. I like my furls but I like my Omni hooks and my Divit Shilp hooks too. I recently used my clover hooks on an afghan with fine yarn. I love all my hooks for different reasons. I ordered a hook holder that is wooden for my hooks, love it.

I think they should have put like dividers in the tray so that they don't roll around or roll into each other because they can still break and i think I would put a piece of like rubber or something in the bottom so it would be safer for the hooks

I woke up to 2 degrees this morning in Virginia. Brrrr!

I got some of those Nautilus hooks the second I saw them and saw "Limited Edition." I absolutely love anything nautical-themed, and knew I'd be heartbroken missing out on getting one if I didn't. It's like the colorway was made for me. That said, the warning WAS up when I went to purchase them, so I talked myself out of the insanity of the full set. I got a few sizes, and I skipped on the tray. (Why get a breakable tray for breakable hooks?) Definitely that warning essentially cut my purchase to a third of what it might have been. They may end up being largely ornamental, more of a "I bought this because the color sparks joy" kind of thing vs. a workhorse hook. If you're not nautical-obsessed like me, you'd be better off getting a hook with a better replacement policy for sure.

Those hooks are pretty, and those Furls hooks look like Godiva white chocolate 😊

I had 2 different codes but was not honored. I was also sucked in. They ate beautiful. Waiting for mine to arrive.

I got Caster & Pollux ( The Gemini twins) when they came out. I love them. Then they released the Nautilus Resins. I like blue, white and copper, but I don’t like them together. I am not fond of the tray, and feel like they should have made trays for all of their hooks 🤷🏽‍♀️ The price for the collection of Nautilus is ridiculous. So they will never be in my cart.. I am still a Furls Gurl though. And I have 2 hooks to replace. I keep alcohol wipes because I am diabetic and test all day 😓 But my wipes come in handy to wipe the residue of off my resin hooks. That rainbow thickie thick hook, needs a nail buffer to smooth out underneath the hook head, and the side of the hook “ beak”. After you smooth it out wipe THE ENTIRE HOOK down with alcohol. Also that hook is DIP LAMINATED, meaning a bath of cold water was SPRAYED with certain paints, then dipped into the paint layer, through to the cold water. Then it is dipped in a clear laminate. That is definitely a cheap balsam wood under all of the laminate. You absolutely DID raise Ommi up from the cave and into the crafter light. Really they should pay you. You can buy Ommi also on Walmart.com now, but the ones there are the first round of Ommi hooks.

I have many hooks that i have got in thrift stores even whole sets for as little as $1 on up to $5. They are very pretty. I am a pencil grip crocheter so i dont use the furls or omi type hooks. They are pretty though. As always your reviews are very helpful and honest. Thankyou.

My favorite hooks are the ones which can light up, they fit my hand nicely. I don’t collect hooks.

Man! For that amount of money, I would want them to be super sturdy so I can get a ton of use out of them. I completely agree that they are gorgeous but man that price and they are so fragile 😢

the furls tray would hold more of their hooks if you alternated the direction that they are laid in it. the hooks are works of art and should be appreciated as such. if you want a workhorse, stick with the practical utensils.

I have 2 sets of the Susan Bates interlock set. I hope the new set has bigger and smaller hooks and they are interchangeable even a prettier handle would be good too. I travel with my Susan Bates set because I don't have to bring Scissors because of the cutter

I don't know if you're aware, but there's 2 lengths, 6.7' and 7" i love the 6.7" length.

I do love my Furls resin hooks but I am afraid to use them as I have already broken one. I don’t take them out of the house so I don’t use them very often as my tension with other hooks isn’t the same.

Furls are out of the price I can afford. I grew up using Susan Bates metal hooks and I pencil hold. I'm afraid to try Ommi because I have never tried a resin hooks.

It looks like those hooks with the special return policy aren't selling. One thing I want to say is that Furls hooks are considered "luxury" hooks, so I don't consider these to be too expensive. The Alpha series and others are upwards towards $100 or more and these I consider expensive. I did break an Alpha once and had no problem getting a new one and I also had one of the very large wooden hooks and I thought the paint job sucked and they sent me a new one. I really don't think Furls is worth the price. I am actually using the pink Tulips now and love them. ***One other thing I want to say is that Furls started on Etsy. I would like to see a trial with some of the other hooks on Etsy.

I purchased ( what I thought was a Furls crochet hook on Etsy that was sent to me in the box that you are showing as a Furls Tray box) I spent 79. 00 for the crochet hook & there I’m almost positive that the hook that I purchased for all that money is not what I thought that it was.
