This is very important for me I'm sick and tired of people picking on me and kicking my ass or time for no reason this is a way for me to defend myself from assholes out there
@@nexxusfivem yea, jujutsu is actually the correct spelling. Like Kendo and Kenjutsu, we have Judo and Jujutsu, Jiu Jitsu is the way the French and the Brazilian pronounced it and it somehow replaced the correct spelling
@@nexxusfivem jujutsu, "ju" means soft or gentle & "jutsu" means art or technique. Due to its exposure to different foreign culture, the pronunciation has change so does the spelling.
First time I did this a dude was trying to hit me with a stick, I grabbed his wrist arm stuck my knee in the back of his and took him down, haven't got in a fight since, not gonna lie, it was the most POG feeling
@@Snowman-uc7zh dude, its easy and a tonne of ppl have done it, grab their wrist, put it behind their back and stick ur knee into the back of theirs, and they go down, easy
Guys, it’s a demo reel. Chill tf out. They’re just showing potential options for these situations. You can’t actually learn a martial art by going “live” 100% of the time.
@Medic Engineer You can look up both Kodokan and Kosen Judo if that's what you're into. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, in general, came from Judo.
@Medic Engineer I believe this was just a demonstration of techniques, every martial artist should know proper techniques. I'm like you though I want to see them do that stuff in sparring to see how well it actually works
Very nice demonstration of self-defence techniques, with a cool BJJ basis and flavour. All killer no filler, too. 5 minutes of rapid-fire demonstrations is nothing to sneeze at. Right on 👍
@@elqueloleaesputo3067 Yes they do, even if it depends a little bit of your club. But as a beginner you will have to understand the basics before starting to do this things
in what king of jj i heard there is bjj that is on ground only, jujutsu u can stand and ground fight? is there any diferences betwen bjj and jujutsu, or it is the same?
@@BlackDiamondPrince jujutsu is the original combination name of all kinds of samurai fighting styles from Japan, late 19th century. Judo and BJJ and indirectly sambo as well come from this collection of styles. It's striking, transition/wrestling and ground game. It''s originally meant to be the most optimal martial art to use in combat when everyone is in armor, like in the fights the samurai originally fought. It's still amazing for self defense, the throws and joint locks destroy someone's capability to do anything back. Lots of moves from Japanese jujutsu are illegal in MMA because they are very dangerous.
Hey, before we freak out on these guys, it’s just a demo. We don’t know if they incorporate sparring, or any other practice, they are just showing techniques under no resistance, that doesn’t mean that they don’t train with resistance at other times.
- Westman You are a smart man. This is purely a demonstration. We do full contract sparing several times a week. We are as concerned as everyone else as to if these techniques would work and real life and I can say with confidences that there is a situation where each of these techniques can be utilized.
@@coltondevalle5421 yes as someone who has also trained in Jujitsu it can and does work in stressful situations haven't trained in some years tho as can't find any near me that teaches the traditional style
@@coltondevalle5421 Why don’t you guys just post a video of you all sparring and showing everyone on RU-vid how it’s done in a full contact and resisted setting?
Bravo! This is what I was taught early on - it’s a complete system to allow you to defend yourself if attacked while unarmed. You can’t just train one thing and leave the rest out, like taking every fight to the ground or trying to box it out without thinking of getting stabbed, jumped by a third attacker, or learning how to take a punch and pick yourself up to keep on fighting. Very refreshing to see this. Thank you!
Coming from a Japanese jiu jitsu and judo background, a lot of this looks super familiar. Very strong finishes when things went to the ground like with the sacrifice techniques (there’s that BJJ strength). Cool demonstration! Would love to it under some intensity with situational drilling and sparring.
@Tim Scholz It's called Shorinji Kan jiu jitsu and is the style taught within The Jitsu Foundation (TJF). Despite it's name, it doesn't exactly have a huge lineage in Japan as it's really a post-WWII style that might be best described as judo + striking. I just call it Japanese jiu jitsu to differentiate it to BJJ as that's more popular these days.
I like Jiu jitsu and all. Practiced it for a few years. Most of this stuff here is legit. The headlock escapes and throws are stuff we drilled at the school I was at. But the knife attacts displayed here are just not realistic at all. Nobody attacking with a knife typically comes running from a great distance and over exaggerates their attack like that so you are prepared for it. Stabbings happen in close proximity with little to no warning typically. Wrestling or trying to disarm a knife or gun barehanded is not usually advised.
We do have defenses for knife attacks at close range but we chose not to display them in this video because it is hard to tell what is happening on camera. We also practice the knife attacks in more realistic situations with the person actually trying to stab you and resisting. We also don’t advise trying to disarm attackers of their knifes or guns as a good first option. However if someone is trying to stab you or harm you with a gun these techniques may be utilized. As they say it is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
@@coltondevalle5421 you shouldn't include any unrealistic knife work at all, only stuff that works under extreme stress.Anything else is confusing to students. You and the Gracie academy are doing a great service to real bjj .
Hi guys. Nice job very well done....but knife... Yeah it us the most difficult topic to deal with.... Are quite and lots of blood In street situations... Get that is only an approuching to terrible scenaries... Do not forget an entire community is watching At you and may these get a wrong idea... Is much better train harder In order to At least try preventing these surprising attacks ...some time by running like hell. It also works
@@javierortizgarcia92357 let's be honest, no matter how good you are at knife defence,. You are going to get cut. Running is the best option but so is reflex drills against realistic pressure attacks. I think a lot of wasted time is spent on unrealistic attacks that lead to the perfect disarm. We all know it isn't going to happen like that. I agree with you.
Love it it's really hard these days to find videos of the true traditional style of Jujitsu most are BJJ which isn't the same it's more like Judo than actual Jujitsu
Great video man. I miss all that stuff. It's changed so much now. I like the new stuff but I miss the real-world self defense stuff from my early tests.
Safton The Valente brothers (students of GM Helio) produced a short history video and explained in full detail how and why they felt the need to correct the spelling. That it was never GM Helio or his brother GM Carlos intention to spell it wrong...and they felt a responsibility to correct the mistake and change it too Brazilian Ju-Jutsu. It’s a very interesting lesson in the history of Brazilian Ju-Jutsu. That is why on their website it reads Ju-Jutsu and next to it (jiu-jitsu) I understand why most would choose not to change it back but there is most def a correct way of spelling the word.
I have been training Krav Maga for the past 10 years or so. People would be surprised with how much KM borrowed from JuJustu. It is a shame that almost no master likes to give JJ the credit they deserve. Only stuff completely independent from JJ are the knife and stick defenses!
Bjj student karate brown belt. I’ve argued so many times that jj has a stand up and is a complete system but no one has ever believed me I found through research and y’all backed this up 🇺🇸
I’ve been through some situations like this and i just standing there and dont know what to do, which is embarrasing. After watch this video it helps alot!
The key to a practical realistic and successful response to a real attack is actually how realistically you are attacked in your practicing your defensive moves. The more realistic the attacks movement and speed the better you will be in the real situation. I think these guys did a very goof job of this
@@Mat-zj6ot .. Not saying that at all. Simply stating that the style you see 'mostly' today as in MMA .. is a bit different than the technique we learned of throws, grappling, submissions.. small digit manipulation. That's all. Good luck to you in your practice 😎
@@Mat-zj6ot Truth is that if you are in real fight you never wanna go to ground (multiple people, always watch out for +1, might be hard and sharp objects or glass at ground). You wanna neutralize enemy ASAP and get out of the hot zone. In cage against one opponent BJJ works nicely. This Cantu's Texas Jujutsu Academy seems effective and more versatile. I my self train Hokutoryu ju-jutsu.
I understand it’s a demo but very good demonstration of your Waza. I teach a couple different styles of Japanese Jujutsu as well as Judo and I do BJJ. Similar to my style of Goshin Budo Jujutsu with less of the arm bars and wing/Kamura once we take them to the ground. Great job.
Original? These guys are doing Gracie jiu-jitsu not Japanese jujitsu. They're affiliated with the Valente family, who are almost family to the Gracies. Three generations of the Valantes have trained with Helio Gracie.
Beautiful work brother. I train in kali, and couldn't help but notice that some of the knife techniques looked like Kali. Is Kali your main influence for knife work?
There’s a whole lot of jiu jitsu types I do Brazilian and I don’t learn about strikes, but this is probably just another kind, either way I saw a few more ways to take someone down👍
This is BJJ. It even says it at the beginning that they are affiliated with the Valente brothers. Three generations of the Valentes have trained with Helio Gracie himself. For whatever reasons they're spelling it jujutsu instead of jiu-jitsu.
Reminder folks that BJJ is kosen japanese jujutsu. traditional martial artists DO spar (good ones). this is a demo like any other style would show a technique.
I wish people would actually teach us this kind of stuff in our gyms. I mean, it’s great that you can learn jiu jitsu and all, but nobody in a real fight is gonna not use strikes just because you don’t.
