Suddenly summoned to a fantasy world and betrothed to the princess, Kazuya Souma is crowned as the new king. Unlike the royalty before him, he won’t be using swords and magic to rule. Anime Name: How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom
I really like it that they made his background make sense to why he would have all that knowledge, he isn't one of those op genius kid mcs, but instead spent time and effort studying and learning those skills.
It's not even all that bureaucratic. If anything it's a meritocratic with some bureaucracy sprinkled in for good measure. Results and skill over noble titles and class.
To be fair, something similar happened to the German Empire when it was founded. Nobility was kept, but most nobles simply became bureaucrats. Middle Management, Upper Management, Administrators, Officers, etc.
Dude totally, seeing him reference real world situations that I can grasp on to or tackle actual hard situations was so good this is my fav anime by far
The light novel is fantastic and while I think the animation and a few scenes are left to be desired, they do encapsulate the grand scale and geopolitics of the world very well. I hope they can continue to promote it as it is one of my all time favorite series!
The second season where he narrates the harsh decision of the old philosophical saying, "Is it better to rule with love or fear?" was really good. I never thought of it as deeply as he did, but it makes so much more sense.
'When fools ask if they are to be loved and feared, they miss the point of the question. When you rule, it is best to leave them in awe. If they believe you capable of anything, then it matters little of their affection or spite, for they will kneel and scrap regardless.'
@@SageofStars To quote Machiavelli "It is much safer to be feared than loved, because love is preserved by the link of obligation which, owing to the baseness of men, is broken at every opportunity for their advantage; but fear preserves you by a dread of punishment which never fails"
@@volatile100 But the punishment must rise in severity for every infraction, be they by a man, or by a society, to maintain that fear. And when Death is on offer either way, then you will see revolution. That is history. But if they stare up at you, and they see not a man, but a God, to whom the heavens bend, whether by truth or by simple control of their knowledge, then you know they will not be swayed from you, so long as you maintain that image.
@@SageofStars It isn't the punishment itself that causes the fear, it's the idea of it. I also say, the quote I put is incomplete, the full quote is quite long. It can be found in chapter XVII of "The Prince". The opening of this chapter also has select mention that it is better to be clement, merciful, than to be cruel. Feared, yet merciful. Like you said, they need to see a God, ex. being that the God in the Bible is to be feared, but he is merciful to his worshippers.
@@volatile100 We are more beasts than anything else for most of our life, so to speak. And fear is certainly one of many tools to civilize ourselves. But that is a small piece of the Puzzle. How to Govern a prosperous Populous , a very intricate theme . Cool stuff maaaaan.
Normal isekai: I'm given god like powers or technology. This one: By the power of economy and state management I hereby declare this the most epic game of Civilization 6! Now HOW THE HELL DID THEY GET A FREAKING NUKE?!
I loved watching this anime because of the main characters intelligence, and that while he is a pretty good guy, when the time comes he has to make a big decision he doesn't pull out moral bullshit to avoid doing what needs to be done. To quote him directly: "If anything were to happen, and those who are dear to me, ended up getting hurt as a result, I don't want to ever regret thinking "I should have killed them when I had the chance."" Also his recruitment speech was of epic proportions.
@@sirrio4474 I don't see anything justifying your comment. Dude uses commas like periods and uses short declarative sentences like Kurt Vonnegut. It beats reading paragraph long run-on sentences.
Imagine, if he will train and master his ability "Living Poltergeist", his kingdom can make an army of dragon mechs like in the one of the episode where the mad scientist made one, he can control them and can destroy a whole country.
@@jaydrianpieters7718 i think in the LN, he mentioned that he cant do that because even though the item he posses has wings(which is probly another form of limbs), the same cannot be said for him as he has no feeling of such body part.
Seeing as how this isekai world is similar to the one in Rise of the Shield Hero, I wonder what would've happened. If this guy landed in that world instead, along with the 4 others?
He'd try to secure political power, while the others would probably try to train into warrior heroes. By the time they figure out that they're under the control of the MC, they'll probably switch sides since they think it'd be more valuable for them to fight along the other nations as high ranking warriors. The MC then has to worry about the nucleur levels of strength each nation now has, and has to prevent starting wars at all costs.
It reminded me of TONDEMO SKILL DE ISEKAI HOUROU MESHI, where it's the same premise but the guy is summoned by mistake alongside the 3 hero, and basically has interdimensional amazon prime as his power and tames monsters with good food
this was one of my absolute favorites to watch. it's so unique in a sense of it's nothing like the normal everyday run of the mill Isekai. very well thought out.
Found the light novel shortly before the anime released and have been hooked ever since. Absolutely amazing anime with such a good story and concept. Love the strategic and philosophical/governmental solving of societal problems rather than just having him be an overpowered fighter.
This title is simping for Machiavelli the same way GATE (the LN) to right wing politics, Maoyuu to macroeconomics, Spice and Wolf to microeconomics, Cells at Work to microbiology, and Dr. Stone to science invention.
i love your anime recaps but ive seen the last 2 dozen you've done haha ive only seen about 100 anime. I WANT SOMETHING NEW TO WATCH!!!! all seriousness i love your recaps
holy molly this recapp channel saves thousand of anime lover who has work and busy, dude keep up the good work, i saw this anime in tv but cant finish cause i barely watch tv and my niece always watch freaking barney
I'm SO happy to finally see representation of a ruler ACTUALLY RECOGNIZING their duty and rising to the challenge. ABSOLUTELY what we need in this day and age.
Although I liked the concept of this one the solutions he gives are pretty brain dead, the author relies in making the side characters stupid to further the MC as a brilliant a realist or whatever. There are only a few kingdom building novels out there so I hope they choose to adapt one of the better ones next time tho what I liked about this one was the starting arc, probably one of the best starts as it gets down to business immediately
You are expecting too much, this is good enough already, a character in a novel can only be as inteligent as the author, and you can't expect authors to be political geniuses, so yeah... you just suspend your disbelief and assume that the solutions are actually phenomenal, that is what i do and i am happy because of it.
@@diablo.the.cheateryeah but I have limits to that rule as well. Its almost as if the author didnt bother reading any fiction relating to his theme or even look at our own Human History as a good precursor. Its not like I expect a peak simulation but I do expect someone to know somewhat what they are talking about. Suspension of disbelief can only do so much when the entire show is about a certain theme Its like trying to make a chess anime but not knowing how to beat the weakest of bots
@@GreatRusio I do think that you can condense a lot of great decisions made by multiple persons over centuries in a single character, but often those do rely on the other party being dumb or being too smart and being played, like in the story of the great general that opened the doors to the city in front of an overwhelming army, and played on top of the ramparts, the other general knowing his cunning abandoned the attack fearing a trap.
@@Haru-nee I think gate is pretty good, though it sometimes reads as jsdf propaganda, the conflict with clear one sided combat superiority is interesting because of diplomatic conflict. It kinda feels like superman vs the irs (i.e. might vs administration. A few ongoing webtoons I'd recommend, "The Advanced Player of the Tutorial Tower" and "return to player" which are fairly basic powerful guy/guy rolling back to the start of trouble after the end of humanity respectively, but they still have to follow the rules. and "the druid of seoul station" which is what happens if an immortal guy lives 3000 years with animals, he's very powerful but very socially awkward, like asking a woman to bear his child because she seems strong seeming like a good idea to him. And he has to kinda follow the rules to be able to hunt.
This is fucking good. I loved the anime very much as it follows the books pretty well. Cant wait to see more in the future! Especially where the last book left off at. Its got me hype for the next book!!
I found your videos a few days ago and although I think you skip some minor details you make a really good recap and very enjoyable to watch thank you for your content
Love this channel, but I have a request. Can you make a vid of an anime about the mc overpowered something with no warning: fan service? And anime genre about music
I was really confused when I saw the scenes and remember parts of it, or when the story sounds so familiar even though i haven't watched this anime. Well it was because that i have already read the manga.
I would of snapped at the Empire for saying my invasion was illegal for they where the ones who invaded me so I'm just in a Defensive war trying to get them to answer for there crimes.
I love animes like this. World building, and Nation building, instead of just pure wandering around getting into conflicts. that' why I love Log Horizon more than SAO or other Isekis in fantasy worlds.
