Did you ever get overwhelmed to a point as a CNA you just incorrectly took vitals or didn’t take them at all. I am a CNA and it is very stressful taking patients for almost 20 patients in a short period of time due to fact the LVN, supervisor is so strict!

Chiterra Palmer yes!! It can be overwhelming, but I do my best to pace myself and start with a routine!! Vitals might not always be on time, but as long as it gets done that’s all that matters. It can be very chaotic in the hospital so it’s important to pace yourself so that you don’t burn out!!

How do you take classes online? I want to become a CNA but don't know where to begin especially with this virus! And also how much is the class?

Liv Casale well I’m in WA state so it’s probably different everywhere. I took a Cna weekends course and it was 4 weeks of online class, then 2 weeks of labs then 2 weeks of clinical. It was about $765

@@brandidillard3001 unfortunately I am no longer a CNA as I've had some health issues that interfered with my ability to work well. But I LOVED being a CNA. Through the hard times and everything, knowing you're making a difference is worth it. There will always be a nurse that talks crap, a work partner that doesn't do their share, etc. but just remember that you're doing this to give someone the best of the rest of their lives ♡

@@nursingjourneywithkey I work as a per-diem CNA, so I usually do all shifts however overnights are my favorite! I can get a lot of work done during the down time and the patients are usually sleeping through the night!

нєlєи I’m a cna right now, I had to quit my last job at a hospital bc I would get up to 22 patients sometimes . And I felt like I wasnt giving my best care and nurses wouldn’t help I was under a lot of stress every shift. I found another job where I would be working PRN and get 5-8 patients the most. I would definitely recommend you to try being a cna but work PRN that way you chose went to work while going to school to be a dental hygienist. Working as a cna is not something you want to do forever, it’s something you do while you get something else done. I wanted to be a nurse before I was a cna, now I made the decision I don’t like bedside, and am going into paramedic instead .

@@lovely95ism This is so true! The environment can be different depending on where exactly you work! Being short-staffed is super common and it can make the job super stressful. I worked at a nursing home before and had 15-20 patients vs. at the hospital will get 6-10 the most. You have to sometimes think about your safety and from there choose what's best for you. It's good to get the experience so that you can decide if this is really what you want further in your career. I learned too that the hospital setting isn't for me so i'm transitioning into Aesthetic Nursing!

Aleysia K. Smith I worked night shift , we get 15 patients and when short staffed 21-22. Day shift would always get 10 patients , I tried switching to day shift but my supervisor said there were no positions for days , then I tried switching to PRN and she said no. So I had to leave. Now ima just work as a CNA prn while I get my EMT, and when I get my emt work as one while I finishing paramedic, or nursing. I’m still interested in nursing just not bedside so I’m thinking about being an ER nurse in the future. I’ve always wanted to be a paramedic since I was 5 years old, even after high school I was planning on doing EMT but life happend and things didn’t go as planned. It wasn’t until I had my baby at the hospital that the cna was super nice and saved me from dying that I said I want to be like her and got interested in nursing. It’s a very rewarding job taking care of people in their weakest moments and getting compliments all the time, and that’s why I’m still interested in health care. Just got burned out from having so many patients and not being able to give them the best care and attention they deserved you know .

abriaaa m It honestly all depends on the facility you work in. Every place is different to be honest. I worked full time Monday-Friday day shift, which is 7-3:30pm. Other CNA’s worked 3-11, or 11-7. There are definitely facilities in need for CNA’s, but not always do they have positions where you work three 12hr shifts. Every facility is different, you just have to research on which positions are available and what works best for you. Best of luck to you!!

My CNA program actually found a job for us so I started working straight after my program. I’m not sure how other programs are, but I’m sure you can start applying as soon as you get certified! Hope this helped!
