I forgot I had a 250. Mine was a 99 model. Now I miss it. I sold it years ago. If you’re gunna buy a new 85 tho I’m gunna be honest buy the rm85. It’s the cheapest out of all the brands and that thing will not disappoint
I had the 79 kx 80. The year before Uni-Trac. A back in the day price of 700 bucks new in Tucson. Unfortunately it was slower than the YZ the RM and then in 80 the CR 80 beat me. Still fast just a bit less. I'm buying the new kx112 in April. In-between size is perfect I can't wait to rip on another 2 stroke. My last was the 86Honda atc 250 r. Loved that thing.
Just bought a 2023 KX 85 for fun. It ran good. But we added a Pro Circuit pipe and shorty silencer with the PC jetting, it’s a like a whole different bike. Rev’s way longer and pulls harder on and off the pipe. They’re geared so low, for track. So I imagine 65-70 at best. would be top mph for an 85, with out changing gearing. They would suck on the track if they were going 80
@@TwoWheelTurban It’s sad to see that the EPA is killing off 2 strokes. Don’t get me wrong I love 4 strokes, but they are more complex and expensive to rebuild. You have to know what you’re doing.
my 09 kx85 went 70mph on a slight downhill w 15-48 gearing (the stock is 14-51 i think) and i went flying past my firends 07 yz85 with stock gearing so i dont think that is going to do much more than 60 if it has stock gearing
I’m 6”1 190 you think this bike is worth it? Never ridden a 2 stroke and will be testing one out tomorrow what do I look for and listen for with the motor to see if it’s in good shape?
im actually thinking about buying a 2005 kx85 do you know what i should do to make sure i dont blow it up? ive heard Kawasaki’s tend to blow up really fast/easily
@@Joeylifts26 i was also thinking maybe it had a recent rebuild or maybe it was new? you never said, but your not supposed to rev limiter with little to no hours on it not sure if you were doing that either
its depend what you're going to do. Pw80 is smallest and have small power. CRF150R is too big for you. But it will be good for you brother. Ttr125, Klx125,KLX110 should be good, and 85 also but on 17/14 wheels. 85s and 150R is strongest. Also klx and ttr are trial 4stroke bikes so you can easy practice with riding. 85 and 150 is aggresive and its more for track riding
@@leifswalling3226 yeah, & lots of motor work too. 15 tooth front sprocket & a 36 tooth rear. It'll go 70 & still pull my 200lb butt up any hill i wanna go up
Yea I have a 2007 kx85 it’s a fast bike, but try getting on a 450 or 500, my 450 you would be going like 40 or more before you shift into 2nd gear, my yz450 I had was a beast, I would only have to go to 2nd gear to beat the 85
You’re high, If you’re talking about on the track. Those kids racing 85’s would smoke you on a 450 riding around in 2nd gear unless your name is Ken Roczen or Tomac. None of the two strokes are geared high for top speed, they’re all geared for the track. Yes 4 strokes have a higher top end and totally different gearing and power bands.
Great bike , rides smooth ru-vid.comUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L I added a bigger spring loaded seat to it . Takes a bit of adjusting cables to get brakes and shifting to perfect . I've owned quite a few bikes in the past that were absolutely uncomfortable to ride and they always ended up as garage wall decor . I'm not seeing that with this one. It's pretty light I've only ridden it a few miles but I like it . As for the pedals falling off in the other reviews , the pedal arms are aluminum along with the pedal studs look to be also . I would not overtighten them. I can see it would be very easy to overtighten them and strip the threads right off . All in all I think it's pretty good quality besides the aluminum pedal thing .
Now tell me??? idk what it is about a 80 and 85 but they are crazy and a kx has a very high rpm kick of rpm and you had another id say two to three thousand rpm before you actually topped out trust me I ripped my Honda cr80r and I'm now 30 and when I take the kids out I still play on it
That 85 was running lean bro. If you think that was running crisp wait until you get it jetted correctly. My kx85 sounded just like that before it seized. Those little 85s 2s are better to be run rich, they cant handle a ton of stress when running lean like that. The bigger bikes can handle a lot more stress. My kx250 2 stroke absolutely rips.
My boi be engine braking on it a hell of a lot too😩 see these 85s run lean when racing cos they don’t care but riding like this is between 32:1 and 40:1 tbh check my Chanel only 85 I haven’t owned but have ridden is a yz lol
@@user-kz7uy5ho9j Buddy saying “oh my gosh” when the bike is barely moving because the engines is begging for oil lol. Needs to change the jetting and it will rip. When the weather gets hotter or colder you have to change the jetting
@@TheLaboys_ Nah my KX 85 moves too fucking quick the power delivery is amazing just that my engine needed ducking oil and I didn’t even put oil in the engine and she ducking seized then she still has compression but anything I started her up she would make a big knocking noise when i Rev it
my kx 85 2017 can reach 105kmh on phone gps at not prime engine condition 😂, my bike sprocket is 14 - 51, and my bike specs is full stock no any upgrade in engine and pipe 😂
In your dreams. They’re not geared to go 80 mph. They’re set up for the track. Unless you changed the front and rear sprockets the absolute most you’re seeing is 70
