The honeymoon phase is also slightly wearing off on my old cottage/renovation journey and I’m also right at the beginning 😂 it’s good to know the Reno fatigue isn’t just me! Hopefully ye settle in soon!

Totally appreciate the frankness. About to launch into possibly a similar endeavour in rural Ireland as a solo Irish woman who's lost all her family. Why not accept that the very things you are now whingeing and moaning about, others would have considered long before making such a life changing decision to relocate, them knowing that all you are now whining about was a certain thing to happen and you think yourself a life coach ?

You will be alot happier in the caravan i did it with 2 kids and a dog for months will renovating a house. I actually miss the caravan at times it was so fun. Good luck

my parents did the same thing and bought a run down cottage in rural Ireland and brought my youngest sister with them (12 yrs old). they had no electricity\ water or walls for that matter... my sister had to settle into a new school which was tough on her but she managed to make lots of friends. We are Irish so that was a bit easier but coming from Dublin city was a shock for them all having never lived in the countryside. Anyway, it took a while to settle and in the end it all worked out. They ended up selling 20 years later and moved closer to a town as my mother felt a bit isolated and she didn't drive. But they had no regrets and they can always say they took the chance on a dream they had. My youngest sister is 40 this year and no permanent damage done LOL. In fact she is the most resourceful girl I know. So I want to say best of luck. You will get there and things will get done when they get done. All the best.

My daughter and her boyfriend are living with his parents in rural Ireland and can't afford to buy a house. They just keep going up. And that's because they are competing with the whole world.

Super idea, caravan will be grand. What a nightmare few days though. We're heading to killaloe and driving around the Burren in April. Best of luck, it will all be so worth it in the end. X

Get on the Electoral Register, sometimes grants can be slow processing, Local politicians can be great sometimes when your lost in paperwork in relivant departments. They can be helpful in small communities. Good luck, it will all be worth it in the end.

😮 daily packing up the van for the school run is too much effort. Can you buy a small car to do that plus your shopping?

Winter isn’t a good time to move most places and Ireland can be especially dark and dreary. In the summer when it’s bright until nearly 11pm and the weather is better (Ha!) it is like a different country.

Very packed weekend, but got it all done. Looks like it's a good plan and will solve many of the obstacles, relieve some stress and gain some time.

Makes sense....having gone through a total house renovation while we lived in it (including waiting 3 months for all doors to arrive, including toilets (!)). The other positive is that the cold is nearly over for 6 months, though you may prefer to stay in the van at night for the moment. Good for your daughter getting into school, she'll get a good quality of education. I presume she got the Irish exemption ?

As a newish follower of your videos I feel no entitlement to demand any videos of you. So as and when! I'm pretty sure setting up a homestead and acquiring then tending to animals takes up a lot of time and energy. Can you maybe get one room semi-habitable or is that the same as camping indoors! It might cheer you up to know that when Queen Anne and a Grateful Nation paid for Blenheim Palace to be built as a Thank You to John Churchill,Duke of Marlborough it took years to construct and for at least the first two or three years Sarah Churchill,John's capricious and mercurial wife and their four daughters lived in a tent in the ballroom. Also Sarah kept sacking the architect Vanbrugh and the Queen + Parliament kept reinstating him. It's good that you enjoy your lovely landscape.

Ireland is beautiful. Our govt is flooding our country with asylum scammers unfortunately.. Small towns and villages around the country are changing rapidly and not for the better.

That voice absolutely grates on me. No wonder her husband stays out of the way.
