REALLY IMPORTANT IRON LESSON....DON'T OVERLOOK! Simple Golf Tips
Getting the golf ball in the right position WITH DIFFERENT IRONS in your setup might seem like a simple thing, but it’s something many golfers struggle with and get in to bad habits with. In this golf lesson Matt Fryer Golf takes you through the ball positions with a long, mid and short iron needed to hit better iron shots. By following the guide in this golf lesson you will be able to get the perfect ball position for each iron and see that you are getting the desired ball flight!.
If you watch all the professional golfers, from the likes of Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods and dating back to the Likes of Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus, they are all very precise about where they put the ball in their stance and when making a standard golf the ball position with the relevant golf club is the same.
Get the perfect ball position with the lesson and play better golf.

2 years ago I was a 25 handicap. I’m 22 yrs old and After some serious time at the range, a lot of lost golf balls, lots of RU-vid I can definitely say that paying for lessons was the best decision I ever made. During my 2 year journey I made more progress in the past 4 months after getting lessons. I’m now a 9.5 handicap and looking at getting a full set of fitted clubs to fit my new and improved swing. Stop watching these RU-vid videos, they’re great for short term fix but honestly just pay the money to get lessons. Changed my golf game forever. I shot 72 for the first time last week. I only just started playing the tips this year. For learning I recommend using the men’s tees and your short game + putting. I can confidently 2 putt pretty much any green I get on within 45ft.

To all the people struggling to break 100 or 90 (seen a fair few comments) I would recommend short game and putting practice over everything! You will shave some serious shots if you can constantly two putt and have confidence around the greens chipping

I’m so glad you covered how far to stand from ball at address. This has been vexing me for weeks. You’re officially my favourite instructor (today). Thanks Matt

There is no “one right way” for everyone. I like how you always tell us that we should adapt the information to our specific swing to improve. These lessons are great and I appreciate your efforts to help me improve my skills.

Don’t know why but I have a miserable time hitting the long irons off the grass if I move it an inch or more to my front foot.. I have to put it closer to my back foot it seems like . What am I doing wrong? I have having my club lag behind my hands on the downswing but I seem to create my divot with a five iron for example in the same general area as my short clubs like a nine iron or pitching wedge lol. When I’m on mats I hit them insanely good and very good distance but I know grass is less forgiving but when I hit off grass on the practice range it seems like I started playing golf like yesterday.. ugh this game.. so frustrating and I feel like no matter what I do I’ll never get consistent.. sorry for the long rant lol.

My 6 iron tens to be my go-to club. I tend to bump & run if I use a 5 or 4 iron, so 6 is perfect for height and distance for my game.

curious then how one length irons work because they are all 7 iron length and are all suppose to be played with the ball in a 7 iron position
@tylerchant3900
This video literally took me from over 100 to a 85-95, struggled so much with my set up and distance from the ball

Excellent lesson today. Great reminder to have on the course. Sometimes i forget about ball position when hitting longer irons. Also great tip on increasing speed with those lower lofted clubs. Thanks Matt

Great Lesson! I've had the wrong ball placement forever because it was never fixed during any of my lessons. Your insight confirmed my thinking. I can't wait to try your Recommended ball position.

You have explained the set up fm short to long irons the best I’ve seen to date thx. I tried it today and I’d say I flushed 90% of them. Terrific. How I made the small 1/2 to 1” increments was to hold my club in the middle of my stance. The btm of the hossel should then b about the centre of my body. So then, keeping the btm of the hossel in the middle and hovering over the ball, I put it mid ball for short irons; near back of ball for mid irons; and just behind the ball for long irons. Thx so much Matt. Mike.

Nice, simplified explanation of ball position. You're right, based on our individual swings the ball position can be different from player to player. I've been experimenting with my 7 iron, from total center to just a bit to the left. What is comical in golf is how our swing and contact change from day to day. The question is always, "Who is showing up today? Fred Couples or Fred Flintstone" :) Thanks Matt!

Very helpful setup tips! Thank you. I tend to move the ball a little bit too much with each club.. the grouping in sets, short, mid, long is very helpful! Cheers!
