Cars back in the 80’s and 90’s when I was growing up used to be so easy to work on. Not a chance these days I found a decent mechanic that does it all for me I always bung him a bit extra for the time it takes to piss about changing something that used to be a half hour job, takes 2 hrs to get to the pissing thing keep struggling love to all❤

Ahh just the ticket, a strugglers video, While I'm dossing on the carpentry struggle, with a knee that's decided no go, hurty knee struggle 😢

The flat plate inside the solenoid has welded itself to the contacts but with starter motors now you can't remove the cover and clean all the arking/burning off it, some of the early 2000 MG Rovers had a starter solenoid on them with a removable end cap so you could clean the live contacts and the plate that makes the connection.

Yep that was traumatic, I spent the first five minutes screaming “solenoid Chris” at the screen..

Buy a long drill bit Chris and do what I do and drill a bloody hole through every panel to get to the screws, stuff taking hundreds of panels to get to two bloody screws.

Chris by the 19th minute I just wanted to give you a cuddle 😂

You make me laugh Chris. You will mess about with little fiddly fork lifts and pressure washers happily. But as soon as you get near a van you lose your mind. I think it’s in your head, but it makes for good watching. Keep up the struggle! 😂

My Mercedes kept cutting out on me I swapped some relays around and that fixed it permanently. After several diagnostic visits and £100's I fixed it myself! 😅 That's exactly what mine used to do cut out mostly within a mile of starting and would start straight up again. If you were quick you could restart whilst still rolling.

have been doing the head gasket on a volvo xc70 for the mother in law at the weekends (im a diyer so not being paid), have had a few rants likes this!!! seems the designers are against those that have to fix them. had to take so much crap of (mainly awd) just to get to one nut on the turbo!!!

Very entertaining, you have my sympathy. One solution to the visible but inaccessible scews is to use a step drill and drill holes in the offending panel opposite each screw and then unscrew !

Chris that van seems like an ignition fault to me, to be sure, if u connect up a bulb, one end to the ignition wire on the switch (or anywhere really but that'd probably easiet to get to) other wire to earth, then let him drive it, if the light goes out when the fault occurs then its dropping out the ignition, could be an ignition relay but I had a look online and couldn't find where it is on one of those vans sorry. Hope u get it fixed

Chris mate went trying to get to the screws on the ignition couldn’t u just drill through the plastic panels in line with the screw heads, just a thought buddy 👍👍

Its a struggle Chris I know that one well buddy. I had the alternator struggle yesterday now waiting on parts got rear brakes to do you know the calipers are going to be seazed😂.
