This may help someone doing this. You DO NOT have to remove the wheel and jack up the frame to lower axle and all this. I just installed 3" blocks on my 2017 Tacoma. Literally just remove the ubolt nuts, remove the ubolts, get a floor jack (I used a 4x4 block bc of the height) and put the jack under the leaf spring as close to the axle as you can get and jack it up until you have the clearance you need. I was in and out 20 min both sides total time. Easy easy.

Buddy, just keep truck in ground, undo old ubolts, use wheel chocks on that specific tire, jack up leaf spring and change/add new block... The End

Looks great! I actually have a 2001 4runner and only want it to sit a little higher without messing with the OE specs. I will do 2 inch front spacers and 1 inch block in rear. What it did for your truck is perfect.

Great video. I’m about to do the same on a second gen. Have you ever tried to do this with Jack stands on the rear pivot point of the leaf springs instead of the Jack up front? Just wondering it they would be in the way or not…?

When I lifted. I had no luck lifting the frame. I ended up lifting from the pumpkin. Then used another jack to lift the leaf spring up till it made enough space for the block. First side took 1:30 hours. Second side took 10 min. Don’t know how you got the leaf to come off by lifting by the frame. I’m I’m running an ome Dakar leaf pack and wanted another inch.
@reidjensen569

Very straight forward. Thank You. One question. Did the modifications you made to both the rear and the front of your truck have any impact on the ride quality? Did it become a stiffer ride?
@DrivenCompanion
@DrivenCompanion 3 года назад
Yes, must stiffer than it was originally. Spacer & block maintained the stock ride but the new shocks and add-a-leaf totally changed it

Was wondering why dint you use both of your jack stands on each side, instead of using your floor jack on the passenger side. I’ve had floor jacks drop on me before by loosing hydraulic pressure. Also did you have to disconnect your ABS bracket for slack or your brake line bracket?
@DrivenCompanion
@DrivenCompanion 3 года назад
I had the jack stands positioned in case the floor jack were to fail. As for the brake line I did remove the bracket closest to the brake due to the increased height.

I was thinking of installing 1 inch block too on my truck, If I am working on one side can I remove the tires one at a time instead of removing both at the same time? I don't have enough jack stand.
@DrivenCompanion
@DrivenCompanion 3 года назад
It will be a little tricky to do one side at a time. To get the gap you need on one side you've got to be able to push the axle down which requires it to push up on the other side. Maybe you can find a single point in the middle to support the weight of the truck on your one jack stand (trailer hitch?)... I'd recommend just buying or borrowing a second one.
@tr4ilblazin
