I'll be working with my colleague Al Hupp at his shop to replace rear pads and rotors on my 2007 GMC Yukon XL. Al Hupp is our resident brakes, suspension, steering, and engine mechanical expert.

We want more videos! You have a wonderful way of explaining auto mechanics. Keep them coming, even a simple two minute explanation on why a Mini Cooper gas tank door says to add additives regularly. Hi Laura!

Nice to see a new video. I think you should do more and encourage women to learn more about their cars so they can do it themselves or not get taken advantage of when going in for repairs. Men could use this information as well.

You took the tire off so fast, it kind of looked like you sped the video up but I'm not 100% sure but if you didn't you could easily earn a spot in any pit crew team in NASCAR. Lol

almost at the very end you say to pump the brakes before starting the engine - why?

Very good question. When you depress the caliper piston all the way back, it leaves a big gap between the pad and the rotor. The gap doesn't look that big to us, but for the piston, it will take a couple of brake pedal applications to get the piston close enough to the rotor to allow the pads to contact the rotor in less than 1 pedal application. So, when you go to apply your brakes for the first time after replacing your pads/retracting the piston, then you'll be frantically trying to depress your brake pedal over and over again until you finally stop!
