On the 60 the rear brakes are quite simple except when a so called quality part isn't drilled right. I wouldn't have to had replaced the rear brakes except for the bad axle seal which caused diff fluid to ruin the old shoes. - So might as well change the springs too! They're easy.
Self adjusters are available. Look up 63 Biscayne or GMC truck with these 11" drums.
And the place where I custom ordered the rear coil springs for the purpose of towing in the Bonneville.
