If you can't get your quad Chinese quad (mine is a Tao Tao 110) to start up, try these things! #taotao #canyonlaketexas #quad #quadrepair #taotaotips #faq #4wheeler #4wheelers
Good tips. It’s funny but it’s those little things that’ll leave us scratching our heads as to why the darn thing won’t start. Lol. The fuel switch would totally have me stumped.
What about carburetor, spark plug, coil, stator, cdi, wiring, bad gas, starter, them are the main reasons why they don’t start most times. Yours needs a new filter and possibly carburetor worked, wouldn’t hurt to change plug too.
Carb on mine was replaced in another video lol. Yes all of those things would cause an OLDER quad not to start. Most of the people watching this video just bought one and can't figure out why it's not starting. The items I went over pertain to the novice user just getting started. I may cover those things as well in another video for those of us with older quads.
I got the taotao 110 for my kids. Started right out out the box and ran great. She doesn't like to ride it much in the winter and thats where i had issues. When its going to be parked for a while, i turn off the fuel and run the carb dry. I have found they are real difficult to start months later after that. They seem to flood real easy, which is what happened again today. I finally gave up. I loosened the drain screw on the carb and parked it. Ill try again in a few days. I did get it started initially, but turned the choke off too soon. I have finally learned my lesson and im not going to drain the carb anymore.
Try playing with the cable going to the accelerator, it may be turned too far out limiting the amount of fuel. You can adjust it where it meets the lever.
If you know fuel is passing through the carb then start checking all your electrical stuff, spark plug, wire, fuses. You might also replace the battery in your remote shut off switch. My remote doesn't have designated on / off buttons, just one button so it's hard to tell if I have the shutoff engaged or disengaged. Check the shut off relay too. Other than that I would smell the fuel and make sure it didn't go bad. Sorry I couldn't be of more help! Good luck! @@eddieserna5494
If it still had fuel and sat over the winter, probably so. The replacement carburetor is so inexpensive it's easier to just order a new one on Amazon or eBay than to clean it out. Try spraying starting fluid, if it acts like it's going to start, it's your carb, filter or a clogged line. Most new carbs come with all of the above for less than $20.
How could I tell if it’s just the battery needing to be charged I bought it early November haven’t used it had it in garage it’s a Christmas gift to my son today I went out to fire it up an don’t start just cranks but don’t turn over. And now it’s barely cranking any suggestions 3:41
It definitely wasn't the battery if it was cranking. With a dead battery it won't do anything. Put a battery charger on it and start from scratch. Make sure it has gas of course. If it's got fuel and the battery is back to full, next start following all the tips in the video. I know these quads can seem like a real pain & the lack of good instructions force us to rely on RU-vid videos but it's usually something simple and small like making sure the gas shut off valve is open or making sure the ignition switch is on. Both of those two things will cause it not to start while it's turning over and I show in the video where each is located. Good luck with it! You can do it!!
I get mine on , it's ride for 2 minutes and just turns off while riding. Been serviced 2 times , brand new carb. After it shuts off just ends up clicking a bunch . Help lol
I've never replaced the starter on one of these but I'm assuming you probably have shims or something similar to make sure it's lined up, similar to a car? Sounds like the starter is just out of alignment if it's not engaging. Compare the old one and the new one side by side and make sure there are no minor differences. Remember, all of these parts are Chinese and very cheaply made.

Usually that's a pretty good indicator that your battery needs charging if power is making it through the ignition switch and to the starter button. If it was a fuse I don't think you'd hear any noises. Also make sure your cables to the battery terminals are not loose. Is the headlamp bright or dim before and while pushing the starter button?
@@khaalishablair4293 When you push the starter button it just clicks? Check your battery terminals, wires etc, also the inline fuse to start. Hope you get it running!
If I disconnect my red terminal. And jump the terminal to wire with voltage meter. It shows the quad drawing voltage with everything off. Is this normal?
