In this video I am showing you how you can reassign any Power Automate approval task even if you are not the current assignee of that task. This is very useful when you would like to build a substitutions solution.
Hello Tomas, It's Great video!. There are formulas which you have used in create new approval record. please share with us. Also, you have not explained about "Compose" action. can you also show what is inside the compose action. Appreciate your efforts..!
Hey, please find more details in my blogpost here: poszytek.eu/en/microsoft-en/office-365-en/powerautomate-en/working-with-approval-tasks-in-dataverse/
Hi Tomasz! Great video, really useful! Just one comment, there is something wrong at 4:36. To mark the existing approval as inactive, the Stage should be "Basic" and the Status should change to "Inactive".
Hey thanks for pointing that out. I realized it too and even I have published a video today, where I underline this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0_qN1OTvtaY.html. Thanks once again 😀
Hi - I noticed you did not expand each of the Dataverse actions to show the additional properties. I am trying to follow along and create the Workflow to Reassign Tasks but I think I am missing some information. Do you have a post/video which takes us through step-by-step or an export of the workflow/solution?
Thank you very much for sharing this video. Really helpful. One question, is this workaround will complete the original workflow or will it stuck on the "wait for an approval" stage? Because I have some other activates need to complete after the "wait for an approval" stage. Thanks.
Hey! This video is about reassigning a task. There is no need for the workflow to be resumed. However, if the new assignee completes their task the workflow will be resumed. You can check my other videos (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-45f8mRAiNjo.html) about approvals where you can find details on how to resume a workflow waiting for an approval to be completed.
Thank you very much; I almost implemented the workflow and can re-assign successfully. But the new approver won't get any notification, even not under the assigned approval tasks in the Flow portal. Do you know why is that? Much appreciate your guidance.
Hmm... Is the new approver assignee the "Approval User" role in that environment's security roles? Maybe because a user is assigned that task via a custom approach, some built-in mechanisms are not triggered. I would check that first. Speaking about notifications - I noticed that those about reassignment are not being sent immediately, but with some hours of delay. So you could think about sending your own custom notification instead. But the newly assigned task must be visible under the Action Items. I would start from checking security roles :)
@@TomaszPoszytek you are 100% correct, to received re assigned notification the user required full Approval permission. I have successfully test it this morning. Thank you very much.

Hi, I'm working with reassignments. How can I obtain the name of the person who now has the reassigned request? I mean, if I send a request to A and then A reassings it to B, C, D... how can I know who has the approval pending to response? Thanks!
The one, which record in Approval Request has a specific Approval ID and doesn't have the "Reassigned from" filled in, and also - which record has status "Active".
With custom approach for sure it is. With oob you are able to catch approval ID if you use two actions: start approval and then wait for approval. In between you will be able to read approval ID. I am not sure, that approval request ID will be available after the approval is completed, however you can study the response body :)
Hi Great video, perfect After re-assignation, is there any way to send notification like to teams and outlook, in current scenario it is not sending notifications
Thanks! The notifications as per my experiments, are being sent automatically, just with some random delay. However you can send sth yourself, either as a regular mail, or by using Actionable Messages.
@@TomaszPoszytek Are you sure that notifications are sent with delay? I am not getting notifications when approval request has been reassigned to me using this approach as described in the video. Thanks
Thank you very much for this video Tomasz, it helps a lot. But I have a problem that I don't know if it is considered or not: when I try to add the new record of the reassignment I get the following error and I don't know how to solve it: Principal user (Id=xxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx3ab26d0e, type=8, roleCount=6, privilegeCount=1153, accessMode=0), is missing prvCreatemsdyn_flow_approvalrequest privilege
