The worst part of the show was that last episode, David losing his mind and talking to his dead mother like she was still with him. Just the look of pain on Rebecca's face, knowing that he's completely gone. And playing along with it to comfort her dying friend.
Eh, there are characters like her all over the place if you look hard enough. She's the manic gremlin girlboss character, like Harley Quinn or Tiny Tina, many other examples.
Maybe, but Lucy is definitely one of the most realistic examples of a femme fatale I’ve ever seen. Pretty rare for a show to actually try to make the viewer empathize with them (and succeed), instead of just making her out to be evil for the sake of it. I think a major part of that is that David genuinely loves her, and actually wants the disaster that her presence brings, and she wants the same for him.
I have yet to meet a single girl thats taken rejection as well as becca, they all turn childish and petty but i guess thats why becca's fiction... plus i would never reject her :(
Technically Maine never did, not in an honest one at least. With what little sanity he had left in his final hour, he knew that his time was up and there was nothing more he could do.
@@connorclemmons8698 actually, maine was such a badass Motherfucker went out in a bang, and even though he went Psycho, he didnt attack his allies, instead, he decided to keep on blasting He was the Doom guy of the serie
Only Kiwi did. We could also say Lucy did it too, since she prefered going to kill netrunners than saving her couple. If only she told David what she was doing and why, the end could have been way better for everyone (expect Kiwi since her bait wouldn't have worked if Lucy told him instead of running away)
All I can think of is a million new players just completely breaking down, turning Adam Smasher's body into paste, blaring this song at full volume and switching from laughing hysterically to crying a river of tears. It was genius to make this anime.
The part near the end, where the audio paused and just had Becca saying "Alright, Dave, let's go to the top" killed me internally. Cried a bit on that one
@@thequestbro Honestly, it's kind of one of the best fates. Considering they would get remembered as the people who raided the Arasaka tower and went up to fight Adam Smasher. Sure, they died but imagine being that of a danger that they had to get Adam Smasher to kill you.
@@Achineeeee00 idk. David was so lost in getting Lucy out of Night City that it cost him everything, he just couldn't see how much Rebecca really cared about him.
Of all the deaths, Rebecca's was the one that got me the most. She never failed David and was always willing to have his back, even after being romantically rejected by him. That anyone would be that dedicated to someone else is why her death got me. Everyone else had various skin in the game except her. The only stakes she ever had was helping the people she cared about, and never even once questioned it. Rebecca is the best friend that everyone needs in their life
-Makes adorable short tomboy character -Makes her personality instantly likable -Makes her a better love interest than the MC’s actual girlfriend -Has her whole heartedly support David throughout the entire show -Sacrifices her own feeling so David can be happy. -Gets brutally killed in the finale. *This is why we cannot have nice things* These fuckers casually made a best girl who, I’m just gonna say it now and fuck the rest of you, can and should be mentioned in the same conversation and Kitagawa and Komi, and then decide “Yeah, fuck your emotions, we’re gonna kill her off”.
In another youtuber's video It was discussed that Rebecca was originally not in the anime and was added in later by Studio Trigger, this was easy as she never really made a big difference in the plot of the anime, and yet despite that I feel that everyone can agree with me that she was by far one of the most important characters seeing as how much she impacted the feeling behind the story, like a bow atop a present she wrapped up Edgerunners nice and neatly for all of us :).
It seemed more like they wanted her to not be a loli rather than having her role not filled. But having an angry loli shouting the shit that 'tough men' wouldn't was exactly what the show needed. It added a layer of emotion having her.
@@quiet6088 Fun Fact: within Cyberpunk RED there is a faction of loli like girls called the Go!Go!Go! Girls. They borg themselves to look like small girls and are very protective of each other.
Lol, that's not true. Rebecca made nothing for main character. She appeared somewhere between main scenes and in the end she was smashed by Smasher.... so ironic)) Rebecca is "empty" character, with no origin. Remove her and nothing will change... besides crying babies in comments.
Rebecca is the friend we never even realized was our best friend. Always watched us, cared for us, loved us unconditionally, never looking for gratitude.
@@gameboyx203 I won't, I just find it a bit funny that a ragtag group of misfits is dealt with by throwing the equivalent of a walking tank at them. And the walking tank succeeding.
3:08 is her recognizing he is absolutely determined to go down this self-destructive path, yet she stuck with him like a true friend would. She didn't try to sway him, because she already knew him too well to even try.
This is also the moment her own life lost its value to her, knowing David was gone, she had nothing else to live for and no longer cared whether or not she survived. i'm only just now realizing this, and her death makes so much more sense to me now. i need to watch the series again...
Best moment I think was when she saved david from that kid he was freaking out about because he reminded him of himself. Becca slapped some sense into him then
Count yourself lucky if you learn to appreciate the Rebecca in your life. She the best girl because she doesn’t force you to sacrifice yourself to be your best you. You do your best and she will be their and if your best isn’t exactly beautiful or glamorous, she is there making everything seem like an adventure and suddenly 100lbs of pressure feels like 90 but at least now you can walk instead of freeze.
Bruh wdym ever since she learned about Saka coming after David from that suit in Ep 6, she was hunting down runners that were after David left and right
Rebecca trying to kill the cyberpsycho who killed pilar just shows that even if you and your siblings fight, you 2 will have an unbreakable love for eachother
@@irlandais4908 "Loli" is a body type and not necessarily a "little girl"...🙄 The only requirements are "female" and "petite body", also simply called "short". Thats it🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ What part of that is so hard to grasp?
i love Becca but I think people are wrong. I think she fits perfectly exactly where she is. ((aside from the fact she wasn't gonna be in the show at first)) She loves david. She really does. But so does lucy and david loves lucy. Do we sacrifice our dreams our interests because someone else wants us? I mean maybe some people do. But I doubt they're ultimately happy....However more importantly. You see it in this video perfectly. Her love for david makes her his greatest ((unappreciated)) ally. She's willing to follow him to hell, and she does. She's willing to encourage him but also to tell him when he's going to far....yet didn't stop him when she knew this was something he needed to do. She's the perfect friend the perfect ally. the one we all want in our corner. But she isn't exactly the gal david wanted in his arms...And who knows. maybe rebecca had a rebecca we don't see. Its pretty typical.
She stayed with david every step of the way, the ups, the downs, the sht hitting the fan, all of it. Stayed even when he was chasing a dream that would kill him. GOALS!
The answer is, that they all are mentally kids. Night City doesnt give you enough time to mature, Lucy could have talked David out of upgrading, and tell him truth. Rebecca doesn't know what she can do and say to save David. David didnt insist on talking with Lucy and all of this lead to the doom
@@madridistasejati5358 no he wouldn't he still would have made the same choices Rebecca just would have supported him more while Lucy fought against most of his decisions, in other words he would have found a faster way to the grave
I like both girls each has a unique side to them but neither could stop David from following the path he was on, also Lucy was protecting David as well since hella assassians and hackers were tracking him without him knowing so he definitely would have died earlier without her
@@trvpmusic2569 That's just blatantly wrong. Rebecca told him constantly not to use the Sandy and got pissed off when he did. That wasn't supporting him. That was looking out for his health. But lets not get it twisted. What David did was NOT for Lucy. It was for himself. It's even proven earlier in the show
I would definitely need a girl like Rebecca to break me out of my shell every now and then. I know myself and I fall into patterns, comfort zones, and once I fall into that little niche it’s hard for me to get out of it and try something new.
I feel like she's one of the best characters I've ever seen in any anime. Specifically because of what happens @3:17 maybe I need to watch more anime, but a real friend like 'Becca doesn't come along very often...
Rebecca best girl for real. I cried more during Rebecca's death than the actual MC. I didnt even cry when Lucy went to the moon after David died. I only cried because of Rebecca. She was the most loveable character in the show. Rest in peace best girl 😢
Such a ride or die girl. Literally helped David free the girl he loved, knowing full well her own feelings wouldn’t be reciprocated, and still fought till the end
It's safe to say that a lot of men would have KILLED to be with a girl like Becca. She tried SO HARD to be with David, for him to notice her, to keep him safe and happy. She was so jellaous of Lucy. A lesser character would have killed Lucy at some point, but Rebecca wanted, NEEDED David to be happy, so she DIED to save a woman he loved. I feel like I'm gonna miss Rebecca for a while after watching the show. And I'll never forget her.
Absolutely love this, I don’t care if they have to create an alternate timeline, gut the story, or even kill Lucy off instead please for the love of god bring Rebecca back for one more season. She stayed by David’s side till the end… she deserved so much more than what she got.
@@OpZeroFilms my favorite scenes is when she got her drink and parked her ass right where she belonged (next to David) in fact there’s rarely a scene of her and she’s not next to him. Their personalities meshed so well in the second half of the season too David quiet and yet loud and Rebecca loud but quiet. 🤧(loud quiet) as in she spoke with her actions mostly saving David and re assuring him she had his back and it showed when she didn’t want him installing the exo skeleton
It was a complicated situation honestly. Although I personally think she was the best girl and a real ride or die I do think that she was also more of a sister figure for David and I believe he even told her so and she accepted it. This show was so very well done!
Yes!! Especially since her brother had died, and David was younger than her…. it fits the theme of finding a found family in place of those that were lost I truly saw it as an older sister seeing a little brother to protect in david… and its even more gut wrenching to think of it that way, she didn’t want to lose a brother a second time
Man, out of all of them, Rebecca's death was by far the worst. Not only was she a loyal friend till the very end, but she was the only one who was HAPPY. Sure, she still struggled day to day and faced danger wherever she went, but she had friends, and that was all she needed. She ws the only one not "struggling" to escape, desperately scratching at the walls to attain some perceived height that would finally fill the void. Her only goal was to protect those closest to her, because with them, she wanted for nothing, and was therefore above and beyond the system that kept everyone else in their destructive paths. She was free from the sick game of the society that promised all your dreams and took everything in the end because she never had to play in the first place. It was sad to see the only true victor have to die just because, as happy as she was, she refused to leave someone else behind and just think of herself.
I really feel bad now for simping for Lucy all the time at my first watch through (yet I also noticed Becca for being a cool char). But in retrospective Becca was just awesome, that loyal, kickass girl who always cheers you up and deserves nothing but love for how she is 😢
That song the original video has it more as davids theme but for the length of the series it matches Rebecca so much because she really wants to stay at his house and when he was in the gutter she was the one who was by his side i wish i could upvote this atleast thousand times because this makes me feel the song again like the first time after finishing the series did in game when it came on the radio that first time i crash and went on a Rebecca style spree because it hurt
Tbh i haven't had any show in a long time to hit me this hard and nothing fills the void after you finish it... it was cut short and thats how life is when your up your up when your down your down but enjoy it when its good and look forward when its bad I wish all you the best keep walking that edge if you run you'll miss it
Thank you for not showing her ending. I never expect her ending so suddenly. I understand Edge life is amazingly close with death, but it still hurts me.
Rebecca: The best damn girl in all of Night City. She loved David and would do what she could to make him happy. Even if she wasn't the one he was happiest to see.
I hate what happens to her in the show, literally it's been forever since a show was able to make me cry like I was hoping she would get a happy ending because she was a amazing character
Imagine if Lucy never existed, this video is basically a retelling of the main story if David and Becca were the main focus......I would have loved it.
After finishing the game, and no matter how much I hate to say this, Becca's end feels accurate to all the tales in Night City. It's only a matter of time before you burn to bright. One of the reasons the show hits you in the feels so bad is that no one really gets their happy ending.
