PONR was so incredibly sexy in 87-88. The tempo was slowed just right to have full effect. I don’t know when the powers that be got away from that, but this was perfect here.
Everything about these first 2 years were so incredible. Rebecca is probably my favorite old school Christine. Dave did this role so much justice after having the difficult job of replacing Michael. I’m so-so on Ball, but it still works. And that incredible orchestra! That score deserves it. I’m in such a foul mood over the Bway news, that I’ll just stay quiet about it for a few.
As is the case with many early audios, only the trio was listed. The rest of the cast around that time was Royce Mills, David Firth, Mary Millar, John Aron, Janet Devenish. Rosemary Ashe left and Maria Moll came in sometime in the first half of 1988. So it’s likely that’s the cast, but there could be an understudy or two as well.
I agree I love the slower tempo that London had for it in 87 & 88. Its also like that in most of the German productions and the first 2 world tours most notably.
