I think a lot of Korra's anger and willingness to cut Tenzin out is that she feels like every adult in her life (besides her uncle) is infantalizing her. She beats Amon, but she still feels as if Tenzin isn't letting her be a fully realized avatar, and then she learns that it wasn't Aang but Tenzin and her dad who kept her locked up in the south when she was growing up? She feels like she's been lied to and controlled this whole time.

And she's STILL being lied to - at least by omission - when it comes to the spirit attacks in the South. She had no idea they were happening until Unalaq brought it up (nor about Tenzin & her father locking her down in childhood), it makes perfect sense for her to trust him over them at this point, he's the only adult being "fully" honest with her.

Korra is a teenager, and she's very different than Aang. A lot of Korra's "growing up" is a different stage in life than Aang's... she rebels, she gets angry, she's just that headstrong teenager that wants to make her own choices & mistakes. Just a neat character and a great contrast with Aang. (We all wish Korra was given the same amount of time to tell her whole story compared to Aang... but it is what it is.)

Kya (total milf material, I agree) is named after Katara's mom. We only hear her name once in the original show during the flashback in southern raiders

Tenzin’s my favorite too. I’ll be curious as to your thoughts on season 2. I have lots of thoughts, but I won’t voice any so you can enjoy on your own accord! Happy to return to Korra! (Love that necklace)!
