I know many would prefer to keep this old closet as it is. But I have other thoughts regarding the rehabilitation or restoration of this old lovely closet. I'll try to bring it back to middle age. I hope you enjoy watching.

My grandparents had a jelly cupboard,, that is what they called it. After they passed my uncle took it and put in his barn to store cans of paint. He would wipe the paint off from the brush on the sides. It was a mess. After my aunt and uncle passed my dad took it and had it restored. Now my daughter and son in law have it. Makes me so happy. Someday it will go to one of their daughters. It takes love to keep family treasures. I admire what you did to the closet.
The patina of the many coloured layers of paint was unbelievably beautiful . If it was just made structurally secure and the patina was left I would have paid a pretty penny for such a unique and artistic piece.
Dude this is Turkey... Our people does not like art... We like it plain and ugly. 🤣 jokes aside i think this is a piece from Urla or Çeşme and you are right the owner dyed it with artistic purposes... But the piece was already rotten.... so he saved the trash
The piece. "in the rough" was incredibly beautiful. Had the joints been tightened up some and just the loose paint been dusted off and sealed with a thin flat transparent finish, you would have preserved the beauty. The manner in which you did it makes it look like something a teenager built in a high school shop class. 50 years ago I would have done the same thing. Now I appreciate the patina.
When I first saw it, I thought FIRE would have been the proper use for this piece. But you proved me wrong! Did somebody dare you to do this? Great work!!!
Wow, it never ceases to amaze me how craftsmen like you (I watch your channel and a few others that have similar content) are able to take a piece of furniture that I would say is ready for the trash or burn pile and restore it back to a beautiful piece that anyone would love to have in their home. Great job!
To be honest, most people basically throw away hundreds of dollars. In the right hands, things like this cabinet or a vacuum cleaner don’t need to be trashed. In the right hands trash can be turned into profit.
Incredible attention to detail and true fidelity to what’s being restored. This guy brings the heart of an artist to his work and acts with deliberate confidence. Also shows grand ambition, creativity and large well of experience! Inspiring!!!
🤯😁 I wouldn't have thought it was possible to save this item that anyone else would have thrown out but this cabinet was lucky to be restored by your very talented hands! 👏
Oh my goodness! Many people would have loved to use the cabinet with that painted finish. Yes, it was very charming before refinishing. It has cottage style. As long as the doors and drawers are working, it's great! It looks like someone previously tried paint removal with a heat gun.
I would have loved a version of this where you kept the funky paint swirls on the frame a drawer fronts, just cleaned up a bit and varnished over, and with the new wood just stained and varnished in a natural color. The paint layers kind of tell the story of the piece.
Although I accept that this cabinet needed to be rebuilt with fresh materials, am I alone in thinking there was something attractive in the original paint finish?
Those old paint layers looked awesome, you should've kept them on the doors and on the drawers, it would've looked fantastic with a high gloss finish. 🤩 Nice restoration though, keep up with the good work!
How beautiful. You turned what most people would think a worthless piece of furniture back into a beautiful swan with many more years of use to grace a home again.
I don’t think I’ve seen a more challenging restoration. The BEST illustration of “Making a silk purse out of a sow’s ear” I’ve ever seen. Awesome! ❤ SayessDesign
It always amazes me how resilient wood can be. It’s a wonderful material: so much better than plastic or artificial veneer. Also I respect the knowledge and patience it takes to refinish a piece like this. Wish I could it with my coffee table. Great to watch.
OMG! Another piece NOT going into the belly of the beast. How lucky you are to be so talented/ creative to mark your place in the restoration hall of fame! Cheers. It’s awesome!
Buenas tardes Javi. Felicidades.
I have to admit; I never believed that the “table of many colors “ could be brought back to life. But you sir made a believer out of me. Amazing transformation!!
Way better before. I just got an old old cupboard with drawers & backboard off curb. Full of ants, decades of mouse-houses. I sprayed bottom & inside with WD40 (all I had with me) sat down & waited for ants to leave. Meanwhile scraped gunk from drawers....loaded it up set outside overnight. Next day, light hand sand, a little glue. Clear coated all the chippy paint cleaned original glass knobs. And in it came! No way I'd have "refinished" it. Its charming and proudly shows it age! I love it!
Wow that is some GREAT work! I was expecting a cat to jump out when you opened the doors at the end. This is a beautiful piece now and you are the master at matching wood repairs. Bravo! 🥇🍺
The way the layers of paint chipped and wore off was so cool. I know it wasn't really possible to keep it and still be functional but I wonder if you could make that effect on purpose without having to wait 100 years?
Yes. It takes several layers of different color paints and the scraping it up to make it look old.. I have seen some cool tables done this way.. Kitchen tables.
I've helped on a couple of restoration projects, but if someone had asked me to help with one like this or to do it on my own, I probably would have said no. But I'm glad you did this. It turned out beautifully.
Such an elegant job! Great color stain, showing the wood grain very well. Wood is so beautiful, I hate so see it get a dark stain. Thank you for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m new to your channel but oh my goodness I absolutely admire your dedication to fixing this piece! It looked unsalvageable with how dry rotted it was but you did a magical job!
What a beautiful job! It’s strange, when all the pieces are disassembled, it’s just a bunch of pieces of wood. But when all is put back, then back too comes all the history and all the stories this little cabinet could tell of the 20s and 30s and on. Thank you for the respect you gave it to keep holding on to its history. ❤️
Such a fabulous job. Love the care and attention that went into restoring this and the repairs are invisible. So good. I think my subscription pushed you up to 77k!!
I love the end result! It's great that you were able to keep most of the original wood structure. The warm wood stain is beautiful. Thanks for making it a reusable, I would use it as a night stand.
Looks 100% nicer, but I would use a satin gloss finish, instead of the high gloss.👍⭐️ I also love the old paint look on this piece prior to the removal.
Hey RM😊 Wow did the former owners ever like to update the paint colours. You are so good at matching in new pieces of wood it is amazing. Great outcome once again. I hope you and MrsRM had a very nice weekend. Take care🙂
