Reborn with Me! Part 12: Reborn Baby Gloss and Before and After Photos! (in HD!)

Welcome back to Reborn with Me!
With the matte skin texturing all set and thoroughly cured, there is only one varnish left to add: the gloss! I really love adding Air Dry gloss varnish to my reborn baby finger nails and toe nails to give them a beautiful natural shine. Gloss varnish is also great in the eyes, nose and lips to create the appearance of moisture.
Now we can celebrate being done with the painting! Enjoy "the great reveal" and some before and after photos - the fruit of our labor!

I have never seen a kit with tear ducts...maybe I just haven't paid attention...either way, I love that detail.

They do not all have them. Its one of the exciting features of the Realborns. Some sculptors add them as well.

I have been following along on all of your videos while I'm working on my first doll. I want to make absolutely sure on this next step before I apply it on my doll. I have Aleene's Paper Glaze. Is this ok to use for my varnish layer and I do not bake after this is applied?

Do u use a thermometer for the oven? I don't have a thermometer yet. I put 250 degrees but it doesn't seem to be curing properly. I test it out with a damp paper towel and no paint comes off but looking at my doll it looks like it is fading. The lips are getting lighter.

So do the ties just stay there or do you conceal them? I've seen dolls with and without the plates. Why would we do one vs the other? And the hair, you added no eyebrows? Is this normal or depends on the doll?

+NuHoangThanhnu TraiTaoThomusa The air dry gloss varnish does not need to be baked. Its dries on its own in an hour or so.

Hello can you please help me how is it better to make the baby's eyebrow with pencil or brush ??????? you know which brand of pencil looks good

You can use either. Both work well. Some people find they can get finer lines with paint. Prismacolor Premier pencils work well on reborns. Test your colors carefully before you use them. Some colors, like dark brown, will turn orange on the vinyl when heated. Dark Umber and Espresso work well for me. To use pencil: - make sure you have a soft lead pencil sharpener to give you a fine point - make sure you add a varnish to the doll before the pencil. Or else it won't write. Don't try wetting the pencil. Your lines will bleed. - Seal your work with a varnish. If you use Genesis, Matte, Satin or Dewy Skin will work fine. Good luck!

Glazes have a shelf-life. When they get old they don't cure properly. I once had to scrape Aileen's Paper Glaze out of a dolls eye because it looked hazy. :/ Now I use jewelers grade resin in my eyes. Demo coming soon! It is not easier than glaze, but more reliable. You can also try a fresh bottle of glaze. :)

Is there an GHSP gloss that I could maybe make? I don't have any type of air dry. but could I maybe go and buy some somewhere?

An air dry gloss is one of the few things you can find easily in your local craft store. Just look for a reputable brand with a non-yellowing formula. GHSP has a medium called "Glazing Gel," but it is not as shiny as the acrylic gloss in my opinion.
