Thank you. I was in a "crisis" and needed to hear a voice spell it out; A, B, C, D, E and do an exercise. I wrote my unhelpful thoughts and beliefs down and now feel unburdened.

Really helpful video in helping me uderstand the principal behind Ellis's theory. Was extremely interesting to actually practice the technique myself.

So well done Karen. I've been practicing REBT for over 30 years. Using it has allowed me to get over depression, anxiety and anger. A couple of corrections.\: You mentioned that REBT replaced therapy based only on insight. If you are referring to Psychoanalysis, Freud was not insightful at all. I realize that you might not want to be contentious towards earlier forms of therapy, so I will pick up the mantel. Freud had stupid ideas, no insight and largely hurt people more than helped them; or at best, wasted their time. Second--Albert Ellis did advocate getting rid of shoulds, but to be semantically precise...We had best say not that we "Should get rid of our shoulds, but "We will do best to get rid of our shoulds." If we think we "should get rid of our shoulds" we are making it impossible to do so. This may seem nitpicky, but it helps us avoid a secondary anxiety about our anxiety. REBT does not aim for perfect rationality, but as Al himself said "Largely so." Please know that I think you're video is outstanding, and I'm mentioning these points as it can only improve it. Well done!
