Loving these builds 😊 Little tip for bearings: pop them in the freezer for about an hour, heat up the casing and they should slide right in 👌

Google assembly lube. A dry bearing is not a happy bearing..... and that crank is likely out of balance now after the percussive persuasion leading to massive vibration at 12000 rpm

I've always used STP for engine/gearbox assembly ,as do mates still in the trade.

Next time you pull the crank into the engine from the opposite side. There are tools for it but you can make your own. The crankshaft does not like be hammered into place. And for the seals you use a socket to drive them in.

There were so many times in this that you commited cardinal sins of engine building. I can list them if you would like but i really dont think you care. 2 strokes are incredible engines but i wouldnt ride this bike for all the rice wine in China after seeing this. Im not a mechanic in any way either, but i at least asked people that know what theyre doing for advice when rebuilding my RS125 engine as i didnt want it to grenade. To everyone praising you, they havent a clue either. I look forward to seeing this particular comment disappearing by tomorrow morning.

The problem with your reasoning is that you don't understand the idea of the whole content on this channel like most people who leave comments I'm afraid. Rye has never ever mentioned that he is a professioal mechanic furthermore never mentioned that he is making "how to" or any sort of tutorials on how to fix engines, etc. He's sharing with people his passion to motorbikes and simply showing world according to Rye. You don't like it = don't watch it. He knows exactly that he is making mistakes he admits it, but he also draws conclusions. No hard feelings.
@boneav83
@boneav83 6 месяцев назад
@@Tolly-k9n I fully understand all of that. What everyone seems to fail to grasp is some of the things hes doing, especially hammering on a balanced crank, could see the engine litteraly explode and kill himself or someone else. I have had the engine on my RS125 let go at 70mph and i can tell you it is not fun.

I can see where you're coming from. However, people (viewers) do tend to criticize Rye's work on every step. This is in no way a constructive criticism but hate speech in a broad sense of the word. People don't use common sense at all when they start typing on the keyboard. When you decide to fix something on your own, you need to take into consideration two factors, you either succeed or fail. I'm 100% positive (and Rye if you read this, you don't even need to respond) that he knows exactly what he's doing by choosing this path. He's aware that he may fail at any step during the project and he has the balls to admit it and still a bunch of experts are here to criticize instead of support. I will repeat myself from previous comment: In no case, he has mentioned that he is a professional mechanic nor he's making how to videos. I don't get it why some people still don't understand what this is all about. And I'm sure he's not an ignorant as he always take all precautions to make sure bike is roadworthy and safe for road use. Example of that: books, manuals, and professional services he uses for any serious jobs. Someone who buys and studies a book (manual), manifests he's got gumption. Cheers

vapour blasting would have been enough but ruined with rattle can paint.....for a hundred and 50 quid you could have gotten them cerakoted....10 times more bullet proof than rattle cans...hey ho its all a learning process...rattle can paint will last a few months til it starts to peel and flake...

I owned a UK 91 cr125, I took it out and somebody followed me home and stole it from my garage the first night I put it in there. It had a cross ground into the top tube under the tank. Never saw it again, they moved various other bikes in my garage to get at it.

Buys Clymer manual - doesn't read it - Check Paint engine casings - doesn't mask up the dirty great holes on the side - Check Buys blow torch - doesn't use handle - Check Installs crank - smacks it with a hammer - Check Installs everything dry - Check This is quickly becoming my favorite channel! Keep up this comedy gold!

I suspect you're not following the Clymer instructions closely. The crankcase gasket should have gasket seal on it (if that leaks you'll have to strip the whole thing again!). Also, it would be advisable to oil the bearings ready for first use. I noticed you had to remove the bars for the selector forks to get the drum in. I was talking to the video, saying "Don't put the bars in yet..." 😂

In case no one has suggested it. . . next time try putting the bearings in the freezer for a bit. Once they are frozen and the case heated up, they will often just seat right down without having to be pressed or (heaven forbid) hit them with a hammer.

As others have said re installation of bearings, put the bearing in the freezer for an hour and warm the case ( a hot air gun is usually sufficient) and they should just drop in. If they need a bit of persuasion use an aluminium tube or a block of oak or similar hard wood that fits only on the outside race. A steel hammer on a socket on the outside race can distort the bearing track where the balls run. Never apply shock loads to the inside race as the shock loading has to go through the balls in the race to move the outer race into the bearing housing. The balls only touch the outer race on a very small contact patch and the shock loading can lead to the bearing track being pitted.

Having built many of these engines every stage had me wincing in pain, two strokes need some serious TLC to assemble and get a good working life out of them, I fear this one will explode pretty damn soon.

Next time use cold spray on the bearings, it's much easier when you heat up the casting and freeze the bearing.

Use a bearing tool for installing them and don't hit the crank when installing use a puller tool pull it through the bearing 😢

I see you used high temperature paint but I doubt the lacquer is from what I can see on the screen. Halford's website under "warnings" says this stuff is highly flammable so please,for your own safety,check with them. I doubt it would turn your bike into a raging fireball but if it's not high temperature heat resistant it's not going to be pretty when it gets hot.

Aaaaagh... hammering a crank web (wince) is *not* to be advised! As most two strokes have a built up crank (separate crankpin and flywheels), you run a huge risk of knocking the flywheels out of line, and effectively bending the crank. Result in the worst case could be binding bearings or even some metal to metal contact, and in the mildest case excessive vibration.........

As said mate assembly lube is critical or put oil over it when starting the bearings are gonna be dry and that is detrimental e to the life of the bearing can’t have enough lube when building an engine 👍👍👍
