Leo you always say that you're a boatbuilder and a sailor, but you never mention that you're an artist and a filmmaker, which is just as true, and perhaps even more true these past few years. This is one of the most extraordinary and beautiful filmed documentaries ever made, and you will be recognised long into the future not only for Tally Ho, but for this saga.

I am 76, an old shipwrigt and a boatbuilder. It makes my long for bygone days. New ways & methods. Appreciate this very much. Thank You for sharing..

The Tally Ho series has to be one of the most interesting and genuinely impressive bits of content on RU-vid, dare I say the internet as a whole. Its attributes extend well beyond boats and woodworking, as does its value.

My dad and I built a 17-foot wooden sailboat back in the seventies when I was a kid. (Correction: I watched him build and handed him the tools) He was a carpenter by training and had never built a boat before but decided to try it. He ordered some plans through the mail and went to work. We spent fifteen years sailing around the Chesapeake before he finally sold it and I went off to college. Seeing your work on this boat made me feel like I was watching him all over again...Thanks.

In that time I've separated from my wife of 30 years, my children have left home and returned to live when things haven't worked out, I fallen in love again and been broken hearted. I've worked hard, had a motorcycle accident, lost friends. And throughout it all I can honestly say that these videos have sustained me and filled me with wonder and joy. Thank you Leo

I started watching back in november 2020, binged through the whole playlist even though I know close to nothing about boats. Honestly, this whole project has been fascinating and I loved every minute spent watching the progress.

Ya know what they say, a boat is just a big hole in the water you throw money into. These people don't know what they're missing, especially when it comes to the new friends, great memories and the confidence increase from the experiences. Priceless.

My wife and I built a boat ourselves. Two things come to mind after watching your videos. 1) There will always be naysayers and negative Nellie's. Ignore them. They bring no good energy to your endeavors. 2) Your craftsmanship is incredible! I could only dream of making those joints on our boat! Keep up the great work. Love the videos. Team Gullickson

Your videos are inspirational to all who have or are considering a restoration of any kind. I have restored/rebuilt a car and swore I would never do it again (and I thought I would never finish it) but now I find myself wanting to do it once more. I think once you have the "bug" it never leaves you. Keep up the great work you are doing.

The heavy timber join at 7:39 has to be one of the most satisfying scenes in this whole build. Such accuracy on such a grand scale is the picture that's worth a thousand words and speaks volumes about the respect for the ship that's been present all through the restoration. That kind of passion and respect for the soul of this craft is what I love to see being made real from all of your and your crew's hard work. Am I the only one who feels a bit guilty hearing Leo thank me for watching his videos? I assure you, the reasons I watch these are entirely selfish: I enjoy them! Yes, I understand views help generate revenue, which in turn help fund the project, but the only reason a person with only a passing interest in woodworking and sailing would watch 100 of these things is because they are interesting, entertaining, and excellently produced. hi leo. this is the 1st video iv watch. since then i started watchong your 1st episode. then i reach on this again. i really enjoyed watching you restoring tally ho. im from the philippines where boats once ruled our history and culture. thankyou leo!

What a joy it would be to see Tally Ho, Sail Cargo, Arabella (Acorn to Arabella), Red Aviva (Salt and Tar) the Sea Dreamer (5 points woodworks) as well as some of the other great wooden boats together in an armada. The wooden boats need to be on the sea together at least one time to show this type of vessel is as viable for sea cruising as any of the modern designs and materials. There is something magical about wooden sailing vessels that needs to be kept alive and thriving. Wooden boats contain the DNA of their builders. Each and every drop of sweat and at times blood that drops and is absorbed in the wood leaves their DNA behind. It's a very true statement when Leo said "they are all part of this boat".

Congrats on 100. As one of many retired old guys that live in Sequim, I look at you as sort of a surrogate son. Hope the move goes smooth. Cheers!

I've never felt so close to a project from such a distance. I often wonder where the magic comes from. Is it the insane commitment? The beautiful editing? The incredible people we've met along the way? Tally-ho is the traditional cry made by the huntsman to tell others the quarry has been sighted. Maybe her quarry was to bring us all together. The middle of January, 2022 with Tally Ho nestled in its home in Port Townsend and I've been reflecting back on this amazing journey I've followed from the beginning. I didn't watch this video when it was released so it was fun watching it now. To my mind, this is the finest channel on RU-vid. The craftsmanship in rebuilding this fine sailing boat calls for attention and appreciation but it is the community of people devoted to this effort that raises it above other similar projects. That Leo is talented and dedicated certainly counts for much. His videos keep us involved. It isn't surprising that viewers feel committed. I wrote a letter to the county when the dispute with the neighbor was coming to a head and also wrote a check. Given how much pleasure I take from these videos it probably makes sense to become a patron as well. There is NOTHING on television I'd rather watch that one of Leo's videos whether he is capturing the polishing of brass knees or faring the hull with torture boards or celebrating the whisky plank. Amazing journey. Thanks Leo and thanks to all the folks working so hard to make this happen.

I know it may seem like a lifetime, and yet in retrospect, yes, it has only been a mere 4 years since we chatted online about your future aspirations for Tally Ho. It was back in the early days of this channel, well before many folks had found it. Leo, I am in awe when I think about what you have accomplished. You've made yourself into a world-class, credentialed shipwright, wooden boat builder, artisan, historian and craftsman of the first water. You have managed to create several soon to be six figure businesses, or possibly a non-profit floating marine biology école ou deux, once again created out of thin air, that only a vagabond dreamer and true romantic would have the sheer imagination and courage to have taken on without any fear of failure or expectations of success. Success has always been a given with you, Leo. People just know it. We have always accepted it as fact, and in listening to you six months ago, back here in Sequim as you were getting ready to transition over to Port Townsend, you speak of leaving it all behind when you've finished with fulfilling your personal commitment to the Albert Strange Association, all in pursuit of the next great adventure. And dammit, I believe you.

It's good to see Finn in these recap scenes. I miss seeing him there helping you. It'd be such an amazing thing to have you, Pete, and Finn there together.

It is amazing how much of Tally Ho has been thrown away, and now MUCH of her spirit stayed on. Timbers may rot, Tally Ho is still here! Strange how time has flown, and we are here now, seeing her in her white and brightred livery. Before we know it she wil have her rigging up, and water under her keel.

Leo, aside from the entertainment that this series provides, you are an inspirational force. Once you had resolved the move in your mind, you grasp the potential and let it energize you. Thank you for sharing this story. I look forward to season 2 and 3.

Not all that long ago, a few hundred years, what you're doing would have been a normal day at work for some. Today it is very much a lost and dying art that you're helping keep alive. I can say with One Hundred Percent certainty that only a select few will ever accomplish something as monumental as to what you have and are in their life times. Caught your video by accident you where in episode 93 I immediately fell in love with the project, the approach, and commitment. Your a man after my own heart. I'm a builder, of wealthy homes. So I understand the commitment needed. I appreciate the tremendous work you have done and continue to do. I now have watched all your videos and some a few times .

My trade is Diesel Mechanics, and Im an amateur carpenter. This is my all time favorite master builder series. I don't need a reply to validate myself. As a Master from another trade, I simply wish to express my Admiration and Respect for your work.

i think i’ve been watching since the 5th video. i remember thinking that the old boat was basically firewood and i was wondering what this wild haired, romantic, british guy was up to. if he had any notion of the situation he was putting himself into. i’m happy to say that he’s been more than capable all along. i’ve never been a boat builder but i’ve been a carpenter and worked in construction my whole adult life and i could at least have some references to what was going to be involved with the scope of this project. it’s been a great experience even for just another viewer and subscriber to this adventure and i can’t even count how many times i’ve gotten misty eyed by the emotion of it all. i’m happy for leo and crew and if it was feasible i’d love to contribute more in whatever way. so thank you, leo. thank you for this experience. i know that there are many, many others like me who take a little time to relax and enjoy a half hour or so with you and your vessel’s rebirth every couple weeks. it is a luxury but a worthwhile one for me and i take comfort in sitting on my sofa watching sharp chisels and happy parrots working to put a dream back out to sea. my best wishes to you and your crew and your beautiful tally ho!

Wow 4 years already. I can't even remember how I came to watch episode 1 as I never had any interest in wooden boat building but I watched and couldn't turn away. The craftsmanship is so incredible and the stories are so fascinating! I have learned a lot and hope to learn more.
