One of the most fascinating projects that Aaron has been a part of was this runway demolition at Zurich International Airport. Eberhard crews had to demolish and reconstruct 70 meters of runway each night.
The kicker? If they were even one minute past their deadline to reopen the runway they faced a $20,000 per minute penalty!
To learn more about Eberhard, check out their website at eberhard.ch/. #construction #demolition #heavyequipment

I can't imagine being the foreman in charge of this orchestrated chaos, on one hand it's got to be an incredibly stressful job, but on the other hand what a rush of euphoria it would be once everything falls into place and starts moving along

I got a job staging equipment for a big rental company and it's great so far. I have an app on my phone that tells me what machines I need to stage and I just need to make sure they are full of fuel and functioning properly... I'd say the coolest part of the job is testing brand new equipment. It shows up with plastic on the seat and etc less than 10 hours, and my job is to figure out how to operate it so that I can show everyone else. Coolest thing I did recently was function test a brand new fully electric Takeuchi mini ex. It was brand new, and fully charged but it kept showing a code for a battery issue. After lots of testing and seeing everything was fine we just called Takeuchi - turns out with these electric excavators you need to drain the battery down to less than 5%, then recharge...

Was wondering how they could have planes land that soon after pouring new concrete and then you said pave. Asphalt won't last nearly as long
@jameson1239

Yes but asphalt has a better friction coefficient so it grips better

We’re paving a turnpike and it’s $20,000 an hour I believe further north on the turnpike it’s $20,000 a min.

Reminds me of rail construction , This one time a certain company damaged turnout switch , and the iron ore operation went down for 24 hours at a rate of $70,000 a minute . ROFL

Great video. Still would like longer personally. Are there no beacons because of planes landing on other runways?

If they can get fined $20,000 a minute then I wonder how much the job cost to do. Big money if you are the owner of the company contracted to do the work. Awesome Video Man 💪💪

That's crazy liquidated damages..... I thought 2k per day was crazy for us. I've heard of 10k per day on some medium sized projects.

@@SaulLopez-bu6pg where I live they built a bridge and ripped down the old one and I was told if they didnt finish on time it was one million per day fine for each day they was over. The only reason I believe it was it was a pretty decent sized bridge going over a on ramp to a highway. They built the bridge on the ground and used a new machine that can raise it up and lower it and drive it into place. It was cool to watch them do it when I would drive past there every morning for work.

Runways costs an average, 400-600 million euros. The newly built runway in Dublin was constructed at a cost of about 350 million.
