@simonstillborn4951 maaaate appreciate the kind words. I'm trying to save what I can lol as these need to be on the road and not junked like most of them now days
It may be too late now, but there is an easy way to retain the memory seat function and put it into any car. The brains of the memory function are part of the module under the seat, and as long as the seat harness from the module to the motors is a memory harness, and the motors are all 4-wire ones (2 wires are the encoder for the memory function) then they can be made to work. And you can take it further - Not sure if VT can do it, but in a mate’s VY Ute I also tapped into the CAN wiring (linked it into the seat module) to make the WK Caprice seats he fitted operate with the priority key - so you set your memory position and the BCM links that to the key you are using at the time. Then when that key unlocks the car, the seat goes to the last location it was set to.
it is a little too late ahahaha but thats ok, i did know that you could do that but i wanted to just keep the functionality of the VT Calais and it worked well. thanks very much for the info though incase i need to do it in the future i can look back and get an idea of what to do. Cheers
Love your new VU Ute build. Keep it red, way less work. I also have car parts all over the house and garage. New and old VY parts in the living and spare room and new HSV VT Clubsport parts piled up in the lounge room. 😂👍
@mitchell8765 thanks mate much appreciated. I try and squeeze ad much as I can in each vid lol just challenging trying to keep it interesting for the viewer but slowly I'll get there
According to Redbook (Australia’s online vehicle valuations encyclopaedia) You have a 2002 Holden Ute S VU II Manual, when you search these you’ll find that they are more of a base model with the V8 drivetrain, these came with the less aggressive body kit compared to the SS, as for the colour, I’d keep this one red and use it as a practice run to building a nice ute, then once it’s finished, use the money from the sale of this ute to find a better Tiger Mica SS Ute, also means theres more content to be made as each build will have its own unique challenges
@tomerickovski 100% mate I'll have a look for sure... and I think you are right, keep it red and hopefully build it nice then actually find an original tiga car and go hard on that one.
definitely make it Tiga Mica, my favourite colour, i'm looking at buying a vt series 2 ss manual in tiga mica or a vt clubsport in tiga mica, beautiful colour, always been a favourite of mine when i first seen it when i was 13 in 2000
I agree with putting it back to VU spec. It’s a more cohesive look with the rest of the Ute (and wagon) body style. And I’m with you - despite being older, the VU front does look better than VY. Even more so when it’s an SS bumper.
100%.....for me the VU and VZ was the most attractive, not really a fan of the VY, But yes it will be a full VU SS Mock up hahahaha. i have thew full kit ready for it...
From the looks of it I’d say it was a LS1 S pack Ute. S pack utes had standard exec style bumpers and skirts but were available with the LS1/6 speed combo. Should definitely paint it tiger like your old one, especially if you’re making it look like an SS 👌🏼
@Dave_in_Adelaide yeah your spot on mate, is an s pac with the factory optioned manual ls1. I reckon I'm heading in the tiga mica direction to be honest
Pretty sure back in those days you could nearly special order whatever you wanted. I had a customer that was a Farmer back in about 1999/2000 that special ordered a VT Executive with LS1 Manual, complete with chaser rims. I fitted adjustable IRS bushes to it cos he kept chewing out rear tyres. Always wondered what happened to it as it was a pretty unique car with the spec it had from factory.
Spewing man so many dramas, good call though, glad you got a good one in the end... red always goes faster and looks better! closed door respray for sure. Awesome
@BADQ hahahaha it's been a ride that's for sure but in the end that's all part of the fun I reckon and I had to show the people that it's not all rainbows and lolly pops on RU-vid lol.
Exciting series coming up mate! You're gonna spray the doors jams, guards and tail gate anyway, go the the tiger, the only extra work is the engine bay. Raptor liner the tub and if it were mine, calais front with lights etc
Great video ,red is just red bro, for me change it I think you’ll regret not doing it longterm , investing the time and money get what you want. An SS Tiger LS1 manual not many around they also look killa 👍👍👍
A mate of mine Dav has an 02 LS1 auto, VU black Ute. It’s similar to yours as it doesn’t have the ss badges or trim. I just presumed that someone must of removed the ss kit. So maybe …. They came from the factory like that. One mate thought it might have been an undercover police car (possibly). Keen on to see where this project goes . Cheers Chris
Yeah it would have been an S pac like mine that the new buyer from holden optioned it with the LS1 and Auto. Thats exctly what mine is, S pac with factory optioned LS1 and Manual Box. Thanks for the Support bud really appreciate it. Cheers
Thats what im thinking as well man, but i do like the red as well hahaha. ill see how i go but its gonna be a hard choice. Hope you enjoying that spray gun!!! i know i love mine lol
Another great vid mate ... geez we are copying each other doing manual swaps (Which your video was so helpful ) and now building utes, im currently doing a VE SS into a Maloo .... i think you should do a full colour change to tiger mica, build that car from your youth champion, you will love it when your finished whats the Vin on the car ill look it up to see if its a SS
@@Oz_Rebuilds hahaha dont be sorry mate, so true great minds do think alike, its great to have reference videos .... Im a just a DIYer myself getting it and giving it a go and your vids also provide great motivation so thankyou !!
Yep, keep it red, a lot of work trying to relive the past, which never works, because they're not the same car. Besides, if you're going to race / drag it, red's much faster. Those speakers!!!!!!! Some Numpty's in this world.
I love red as it’s one of my favourite colours … but end of the day this is your dream Ute this is something you will never sell again so I reckon complete change redo entire colour and interior and make it something you love more n more
Gotta say I agree with what you are saying it’s pretty bad but not bad enough to take an origanal manual ss Ute off the road by scrapping it people would use that as a burnout car because that has no effect at low speed burnouts don’t scrap it it’s worth selling
@alexeicontis1735 yeah one of my mates was saying he might want it but I just don't have the room to have it lying around. I may chuck the shell up and see if anyone show interest
Not sure if they did them for the utes but i know sedan you could buy an exec and option it with a ls1 and manual. So could just be a pov pack hence the few oddless options
@traviswilliams1360 yeah that maybe the case but the strut tower was pretty bad which I'll show in the next video. I probably could fix it all but I just didn't want the headache. I'll probably leave it for now and maybe see if it's worth getting someone to look at it before I scrap it. For now the red one will be a nice easy fix and on the road fairly quickly
@Oz_Rebuilds Fair enough the red shell is obviously a better shell . The Tiger shell had the correct tags for what you wanted to build, but can't always win.
So sorry guys it seems that my new rode mics are giving me issues and now the sound is only coming out of the one side. Bare with me while I try sort this all out. I should have it fixed by the next video
@markhunter8922 yeah sounds about right mate it was an spac optioned with the LS and manual. I guess they would be pretty rare as most were ss v8 or s pac v6
