The damaged cable from last video looks like the Etherloop cable, this is the new controller wiring harness for the new 48V platform replacing the old CAN bus architecture. This could affect steer by wire components, so it’s best to see if you can replace this damaged cable. Great project! Good luck 😊
Total BS. The battery even when dead is high value ore, the metals cost more money to mine then recycle, and the batteries are lasting 10+ years (im currently still driving a 2014 model s) and there is 2012 to 2013 model s out there still running as well as roadsters and nissan leafs going back to 2008 still being driven daily. The batteries last way longer then phones @@iamgermane
I was about to comment on that damaged ribbon cable, it’s seem like a logical thing to assume that it’s responsible for steering data flowing between front and back wheels
I'm a tesla owner and experienced FSD user on my car. You can override stopping for red lights or stop signs by pressing the accelerator. It will continue the FSD unless you press the brake. You can also override the speed limit on FSD by using the scroll wheel to set the speed up to 85 MPH. Have fun guys love the tesla content!
If you don't want to buy turnplates for steering calibration you can always use a few garbage bags to lower the resistance of the tires on the pavement and proceed with the alignment. (I learned this from Formula Drift and it surprisingly works)
Nightmare vehicle, nightmare auto drive. Utterly unreliable, dangerous, poorly built and downright ugly, Self driving? If you don’t want to operate a vehicle, ride the bus. How long with it take for hackers to come up with ways to hack cybertruck operations? What happens when it’s self driving and develops a glitch? Wanting to be dependant on a computer when you’re moving at 60 miles an hour encased in 6,000 lbs of rusting steel seems like a truly ridiculous and naive notion.
Not sure if you figured it out, but I’m writing this as I’m watching. I work at a collision center, and usually with the other models, if the inner tie rod is bent you have to replace the steering rack. My guess is that because the cybertruck is a steer by wire and probably uses all sensors, there might be like a “inertia switch” sensor of some sort, it might have tripped that sensor and calls for a replacement. Hopefully this helps!
Getting the car on turn plates might also be an idea for the calibration. I assume there are force sensors that are supposed to read a specific amouth of force used when it steers on turn plates.
Pointless, it would never calibrate without communication to PSFA ECU. Look at the log, it cannot even do second step of the procedure, which is communication with PSFA module, why even lift, it when it doesn't try to do the aligment process?
I will never buy a new car where though I own it, the manufacturer (Big Brother) can still reach out to it to remove features or ultimately disable its motor(s) or charging capabilities.
I was going to mention that ribbon cable. I think it's two redundant LAN cables on top of each other but both are probably needed for the system test/calibration process to pass.
The steering in the rear was damaged, and the doors were removed and shoved into the vehicle, and may have damaged the centerline Power over Ethernet cable going to the rear Electric steering control module. The from and rear steering use 48 Volts to operate, and there is a calibration issue with the steering wheel. The steering wheel is not mechanically connected to the front and rear wheels, as this is a true Dual Redundant, tribunal consensus, sensor input steering column connected only by Ethernet Communications, which also controls all the other functions of the vehicle, like fans for the cabin, fans for the cooling system, headlights and rear taillights/Marker lights, the Bed rolltop Metal cover, the brakes, power windows, door locks, speakers and amplifiers to the entertainment center/computer, ABS, the Ethernet is a full token ring when operating normally, with each module having two input/output connections with power, if any module has one of it’s connection shorted or opened, it should be able to get to the vital data it needs to function from the other route, while lighting up warning messages about the dead path. Perhaps a module pc board has a crack from the G Forces from the impact! That is what I suspect is wrong with that steering.
This. Working on something like this is more akin to working on an industrial automation network. Which means, check all the basics first: Verify that the entire network has both power and comms, and fix any hardware related fault messages (dead circuits). Calibrating anything before that is probably pointless.
I'm 47yrs old. $73,000 biweekly and I'm retired, this video have inspired me greatly in many ways that I remember my past of how I struggled with many things in life to be where I am today!!!!❤️
After I raised up to 325k trading with her I bought a new House and a car here in the states 🇺🇸🇺🇸 also paid for my daughter's surgery (Joey). Glory to God.shalom.
A newer Dodge Challenger has basically the same wheelbase as the Model S and so are a bunch of old GM vehicles! Plaidussy v1 needs a new sleeker body once v2 is done! Actually starting to look forward to these BatteryBoiz videos!
I wonder if it might be air ride related. It might be attempting to set the ride height for accurate suspension geometry but (every air ride equipped vehicle I've ever worked on) will not adjust the height with the doors open (in your case removed) because it's a crush hazard.
After witnessing the recent Crowdstrike mishap that caused computer systems to shutdown worldwide, it's kind of scary to have cars that are now completely reliant on the same online system that can be tempered with or shut down remotely and there won't be anything you can do . I'm all for technology but I would have hoped there were some analog system backups on the car for a time when things go south
check airbag/clock spring for communication pair (can)issues to the sccm.May also be fried wires at any airbag or seatbelt location that popped via pyro charge! a lot of times the wires close to bag or in circuit with the belts overheat on charges going off .melt together or melt the yellow plug or expose inner strands . good luck brothers.
I’m digging this. It’s a completely new thing to learn. As much as people don’t like it this is the future of automotive. Get used to it. Even new ICE vehicles rely a lot on technology. We can be learning something now to help on our vehicles of the future EV or ICE. The hondaru content has been sick too. Super cool helping Emelio out
Everyone loves electric cars until they own an electric car and have to deal with it. And for clarification I'm not talking about hybrids. Electric cars are complete garbage. There's no possible way a electric car that only lasts 40,000 miles if that is more economically friendly than a Honda Civic that lasts 300,000 miles. Fact
I refuse to accept the idea that we just have to accept overcomplex design that skyrockets repair and maintenance costs and increases unreliability for the sake of 'technology'. Car manufacturers are there to serve customers. I will gladly pay for cars that function well and can be easily serviced if that means sacrificing some conveniences the tech brings.
@@chriswise1232 no, i didnt. Most of modern ice cars has a mechanical linkage to the brakes, the steering, door and windshields. People just easily accepts things even if it isnt in their favor. Hence, our situation now. Electric cars are supposed to be simpler than ice cars and lesser components. Now you dont own anything as the companies can control your vehicle at will if they want to.
@@MartinMurray1966 i still could steer it to some degree and you can accelerate at will. In this scenario, the sensor is preventing you from doing anything in the car.
My first thought, knowing Tesla is like Apple in a lot of ways, is the doors being disconnected could set a software trap and not allow calibrations to complete, effectively bricking the car. Just a wild ass guess from an IT guy Good luck!! :)
The CyberGarbageTruck is similar to an Apple, that is an Apple III Computer... The product that Apple wants you to forget as well as one of their fixes for it, as to re-seat the cards in the bus, you need to drop it a foot periodically onto your desk...
Great video, great content. Thank you for the update on Plaidessey #2. I love all of this. Including your I.C.E. vehicles. Thank you for having an open mind and embracing old as well as new tech. This is very exciting. It would be cool if Tesla had a dragstrip mode where the FSD would stage, hit perfect lights and run the 1/4 mile as well. Talk about cheating in bracket or index racing. 🤣
My first FSD Experience was in a model x. Did a 10 and 15 minute drive with no interventions 2 years ago in beta never touched the wheel. Really opened my mind to how well it can work!
@@tinycmo yeah if need be, some one still needs to feed the world, Life not handed on a platter like some simple folk may think. Rodger that. But we do live in a country of hard working ppl., minus a dribbling leader. 🤣😁😃
I don’t like the idea of this limp / disable mode , what if you have a real emergency and need to get out of the area such as a tornado or a big war or something which isn’t out of the realm of possibility depending on location… there should be a way to over ride this system
This problem didn't happen randomly, the vehicle was involved in an accident, most cars aren't drivable after an accident. Lots of modern cars including ICE vehicles have limp modes when issues occur, for the safety of the passengers and the vehicle. Its designed to allow you to get out of potential harms way(off the interstate, or into a parking lot) without causing more harm. In the old days before computers you might not realize your engine has an issue until pieces of it are scattered across the road and your car is completely dead in the middle of the road.
I recently saw that a Tesla was totaled on the cost of all new airbags....apparently the insurance co. said never mind fixing the wreck damage because the airbags exceeded the worth of the car. I would be very wary of the battery having been subjected to some g force....it only takes one of those cells to go bad to screw the whole battery pack.
That autopilot is so cool makes me wanne swap my Hyundai Kona. The wife has other thoughts unfortenately😂 great projects ypu guys have respect. Greetings from Holland
A Ford Edge totaled a Cyber truck ? Kinda reminds me of when Dorothy on the Wizard of Oz threw a bucket of hot water on the Wicked Witch and melted her. Hilarious.
So sick! Love the Tesla content man. I have 2 Model Ys with FSD and I love it!! Be careful with camera placement on the new body though... Tesla retrains the FSD models to be specific to the vehicle size so I'm not sure if swapping the body might cause issues with how the car is located in space. I know they had trained on a bunch of model 3/Y data and some of the larger vehicle models (S/X) were initially having some minor problems with wheels hitting curbs and stuff. So be careful out there! Love the content, keep it coming!
Same is true of ICE cars at this point. Most of the gas or diesel engine is computer controlled. You will find that most manufacturers will void the warranty if you change the engine coding from factory spec. To be fair to manufacturers, it is possible to set the coding in ways that will damage the car, hence the voiding policy.
Did you replace the broken ethernet loop cable? If it can't communicate with rear it won't allow to drive most likely. Maybe one of the ribbons is damaged and it's using a secondary but won't allow with just one. Good luck, Casey
and amazingly full of teslas that everyone brags how there's nothing to service on them. the holy grail of zero cost to operate. just think, if we got rid of oil just a few years back, there wouldn't be any evs. its a shame libtards and climate freak extremists are forcing evs on the motoring public. teslas were cool 10 years ago before this braindead idea of banning ice vehicles was concocted. when you ignorantly push anything on people that aren't sheep, you get the pushback and division you're witnessing theses days.
This is perfect for all the old people who shouldn't be driving but still want to. But I'm a firm believer, if you take away the fast problem solving our brains do while driving you are letting a skill go to nothing. You don't use something constantly you those it.
So you need the suspension module as well if you are replacing the steering module. And while you’re at it change the blinker fluid module 😁- I love teslas by the way. The R&D in these technologies is insane! 🤯
My father in law has a Model X with full self driving and it worked remarkably well. It once got confused in a parking lot and tried to go out the entrance...he had to stop it.Other than that I was impressed.
I drove 3 hrs today Saturday to Staford springs to see Kyle and lucky me he was gone . Met this sweet lady happen to be mom bought a bunch of merch from her. I'm big sad tho one chance I had to meet him locally 😢
The cameras dont need to be exactly in the same place for fsd to work you just need to calibrate then after the swap. They can be a foot lower/ higher or left to right
Showing how FSD works is nothing new for us who have been using FSD for a long time. FSD gets OTA improvements every so often, it will prompt you to get your hands on the steering wheel if it senses you're not doing so. It is nothing like what you're showing on your video. If you keep your hands off the steering wheel for a prolonged period of time after a while it will disconnect you from FSD and you may have to wait at least a week before you can get your FSD function back same as if you're driving carelessly such as doing extreme braking or driving maneuvers. FSD is a wonderful feature when you are on the open highway and makes for a very relaxing long distance driving experience plus it makes sure you don't miss an exit where the supercharger is when you have it programmed for the next supercharger. Long road trips are awesome with FSD on the other hand the system is still learning when FSD on city streets or parking lots. Like I already mentioned I have enjoyed using FSD immensely since I got my Model Y with that option I ordered because I believed in the technology when I bought my car. Since then I understand you can also buy a monthly subscription to FSD if necessary if you don't want to pay the $15,000 for the option when you order a new car fromTesla. Enjoy FSD!
The tesla FSD comes with also autopark and summon mode. Summon is the feature where you can remote control the car from your phone to go backwards or forwards, and just come to you and pick you up.
What about the rear steering motor, connections, wiring, casing under there? Any of that cracked or messed up? Waterproofing of electronics under there bent open allowing something to short out and fry electronics.
Hi BoostedBoyz, I was catching up on your latest video and there is a secret feature that I am confident is also on your Cybertruck. As all models of Tesla’s that dont have the stick shifter, have a manual override above the Hazzard button, above the rear view mirror. I was playing with a Model X to answer some questions I had that the member of staff had no answer to, so I got playing and was curious about what looked like a membrane switch above the rear view mirror. Pushing it for a second, revealed a hidden gear selector, for P, D, N, R. So you could use that instead of the screen. Given the drama your having and I don’t think your aware of that feature. It might help you with your future recoveries, getting the vehicles into Neutral. I’m Phattgreg on x.
Here in Minnesota, some drivers are uncomfortably nice. For example, you come to a four way stop, guy on your right gets there before you do. (Like full car length before). They will sit there and wave you through the intersection, even though they have the right-of-way. Drives me nuts! I would be very interested to know how the Tesla fully self driving handles these things. Another one is people not knowing how roundabouts are suppose to work, and stop in the circle to let you pull in. Again, would be fun to test Tesla's self-driving ability against stupid drivers!
If the model x windshield is intact sell it. They go for like 6k if you want it replaced. It may recover some funds just don't break it lol. Also if you toggle the right scroll wheel you can make it speed. Roll it up and you can set the speed. I only figured this out when mine expired lol.
Kyle, your experiences with damaged Teslas is a great educational lesson for the driving g public. It doesn’t take a serious accident to total electric cars. Thank God car manufacturers are developing technologies that make us dependent on China for batteries. Toyota has developed hydrogen solutions including a vehicle that separate the hydrogen from the oxygen and use water to fuel internal combustion engines with totally clean emissions with water vapor coming out of the tailpipe. There are several technologies that are using hydrogen for fueling cars that are much cleaner than electric due to our power to charge batteries comes largely from fossil fuels. Battery power will never be a practical global solution.
Tesla requires a front steering column/steering & suspension inspect after any collision. So much as a tie-rod’s bent (up front), PER TESLA: (not necessarily NHTSA), the entire rack requires replacement. They run about $2,650 for parts, and around four hours labor…I assume the “rear steer” doesn’t like Kyle’s “heat-em-up” rear “limp mode fix”, as it has rear-steer…😬
Very Cool. The improvements that you are talking about to make the system better than a human driver, are just a few small steps away. Detecting a stalled vehicle, traffic control officer, navigating around animals, road work, and accidents. The
Can't help but feel that the diesel would be fun.. but for some reason I just have a vision of Kyle going full... twin engine quad turbo cybertruck.. it would be insanity.. never happen but it would be the only cool cybertruck
You had a pc building moment. "Put it all back together? That's not going to work" but IT support requires it to wipe out that variable. Mobile phones on wheels.
It detects: that the vehicle collided, that you straightened that steering end and it has a dimensional difference with a new one. Keep it in mind. And also, Tesla immobilizes the vehicle remotely and you may need its OK due to the accident.
This is worrisome. It tends to confirm that damaged EVs take very little damage to be totalled. Imagine a planet with a few billions of them on the road.
Id have taken most of the weight off the wheels since the calibration requires the truck is on a turning rack. It may have had out of range resistance values for a sensor on the front end so it aborts the test.... Just a guess but its something to add to your game plan next time you rent the toolbox. Pur the wheels on individual dollies perhaps. The trash bag comment below sounds interesting on lowering the resistance so its two pieces of plastic stacked under each wheel I get it!
