While she hasn’t done anything worthwhile to help the city to speak of, a lot of what happened started way before her arrival, and much of what’s happening is beyond her control. Vote her out or not the next person we put the blame on will not be much better if given less than two years to make a difference.
She politicized everything around Armstrong , breaking the department and general public’s moral. Crime increased significantly and criminals are more emboldened than ever. That is what she did wrong. Along with lacking conscience by taking trips abroad while the citizens brace in fear for what might happen next. If you think it’s city council making it difficult, then she failed to bring that up and let us know who is at fault.
Sure the city was headed in the wrong direction, but she failed to turn the tide. Instead, Oakland has remarkably gotten worse and accelerated in a downward spiral under her tenure. We know what the next two years for Oakland holds and she has given actions to signal that things are going to get better. Time for a change.
He is basically saying, Well that's how it's always been, why change now. And as to his comment about it being a waste of taxpayers money.. what isn't?
It's just not the job, it is the bald face lies & avoidance of any type of accountability. She ducks and dodges, doesn't answer questions, but has all the press opportunities to get her picture taken telling us how much better crime is.
Oakland has too many people that don't go to work and have plenty of time to create havoc. If you to expensive cities, people have to hustle to be able to afford it and don't have time to get in trouble.
The sad thing is, if they get Thao out, they will turn right around and vote in another liberal double talker. They will vote blue no matter who cause they have been trained and conditioned to drink the blue juice.
They didn’t recall Libby Schaff after two terms as mayor, but want to recall Sheng Thai after less than two years? Oakland deserves to be in the mess it’s in.

It costs money to recall and the replacement never does better build tiny homes in affordable places with that money. 3 million could build 100 tiny homes which includes land purchases, running water ac and a mattress!
Seems like Alameda County has completely changed in a good way. I believe the population has become more “Republican” or “Libertarian” compared to what it was in the 80’s & 90’s.

You're not serious right? I have a friend who is an Oakland police officer. So many officers have left that those who stayed are overworked and won't even answer calls for help because they're overwhelmed.

The ex police chief was not straight and she needed to fire his lazy ass. I think some people in the community might be upset with her about that. He wasn't straight.
voters need to learn the consequences of their decisions. there should be a higher standard for recalls. unless the behavior of the political official is egregious, you wait until the next election. these recalls are a waste of tax dollars!
