mag that is similar to that Nintendo power! Pretty cool and showed me an absolutely amazing Zelda painting of various characters and enemies throughout the series!
I play everything I get, if not only to get a feel for the game. Naturally I finish only a fraction of the games, but part of the attraction of collecting is that it's there on the shelf IF I want to finish it.
Glad to see you got that Geoffrey controller safe and sound. I am *almost* kicking myself for informing you about the trade but I will get that boxed Geoffrey sometime eventually. Neat he sent you that Zelda magazine - I was about to post a video about that exact magazine today
I have almost all N-Gage games, but I'm also slowly collecting all Vectrex and Virtual Boy games. But those have such small libraries, I don't think I'll start a big collection anytime soon.
I can't say for your country (you should ask your own authoritiues there), but here in Finland if a package's value goes above 45 euros, you have to pay +23% VAT. Of course, many sellers will agree to mark the value down and you don't have to pay anything. I just don't feel like paying extra for a used game that's been sold between two private individuals...
Well, as Earthbound wasn't released over here, I'd say the prices are either the same or more expensive here. If it's mint and complete with box and manual and all, I'd pay 600 euros easily. Might be worth even more, if it really is mint.
Hey, i was just wondering what your favorite system to play on that you own? I know that on your website you have a ton of Nintendo 64 items. Is that your favorite system of all time?
Damn. I really envy the fact that you can sit down and play a 20 yeah old game and enjoy it! I mean I can sit down and play the first level of an old game. But getting through the entire game..noway
I definitely agree with you. If i put copyrights over preservation then lot's of book's and such would be on a limbo too. I won't miss something important just because it will never get a re-release. Downloading such product doesn't harm anyone. I am a collector myself but i don't think i'm obliged to buy all these old games to be able to play them. Some people's uses other people's guilt and hoard games and make a big profit which is just disgusting.
hey Finn, I got the new Prototype that comes with a military coin since I live on a military base. You can have it if you want, it looks pretty neat. still in the package
i have a question about buying from ebay. i wanted to order something from honkong lately but im still wandering. are there any problems with taxes being added to shipment? where, say, customs officers are adding tax to your shipment and demand it to be paid before releasing package from the airport. i want to order some electronics that are about 80$ worth from honkong or china. i know when someone send me some modern lptop PC from US i had to pay tax with approx 30% value. (i live in EU btw.)
Well that's your view about and i have mine. I personally doesn't consider it as a piracy even though from legal point of view is. I'm sure that love developers are happy that more and more people enjoy their games. You also have to remember that those unforgotten games won't last forever on physical form so it's a positive thing that people save those games to digital form.
Emulators are also good because they make things more smoother. I like playing old PC games for instance but without emulators like dosbox you can't even play them. Getting ancient PC to play them isn't the easiest task just like getting rare old console that actually works in the future.
Well, if you own the original game, then it's a different discussion altogether. Although no-one who cares about games would choose a computer emulation with computer controls over the real deal.
If games die, then the makers of the game can release them again on new systems. If game companies use emulators to bring back dead games on download services, then they are good. But illegal downloading of games is never good, no matter how old or obscure the game. Someone always owns the rights to it, and they decide if it's for sale or not.
600 euros, i found two sealed copies of earthbound in a garage sale, the lady didn't know what they were, walked away with both for $20, i was over the moon, best $20 i've ever spent :)
True that. But don't be negative about emulating. Personnaly it sucks for me. Because the controls always fuck up and second; why not? Play the goddamn game if you want to. It doesn't matter if the game is two years old or 20 years old. It's all about the fun
Bullshit. If I want to play let's say Mission Impossible for N64. And I don't have the energy to put my system up, I just download it and play the hell out of it.
Hoard games and profit from them? What and odd perspective. Just because a game isn't available for current gen consoles for dirt cheap isn't an excuse to download. It still means it's up to the owner of the game to decide when to re-release it. You'll just have to wait for it, buy the original game from somewhere or simply play something else. Anything else is just an excuse to make the downloader feel better. Which is fine, just don't attack the law-abiding game lovers in the process.
