Hello, interesting on the sticker on the Columbia label. CSN debut classic !! Osibisa is great !! Nice to see you like the LZ reissues I thought they sounded good too. Cheers -VK
I didn't know that import copies of the 2 eye label existed. These pressing sounds a lot different that the dutch pressing. The Led Zeppelin reissues are some high quality stuff indeed. Glad you like them as well :) Armien

Hi Armien, i have never heard of Osibisa, but it didn't sound bad at all! I think they must be great and funky to listen to live! And they have hammondorgan there, it's always a good sign! ;) Take care and have a great weekend!
Hello Jörgen, oh yes - Osibisa is a great mixture of various styles. Afro Beat, Progrock, Funk and also some psychedelic moods. Thanks for watching - have a good sunday :) Armien
Nice finds, Armien! that Osibisa looks cool, pink elephants flying, hah; I'll def check that out later! I need to get into Brian Eno. I should buy some of the Led Zep reissues one day, too. btw, I gotta mention that I bop my head each time I watch your opener... so hypnotic, hah
Hi Amber, haha yes - I love the cover art as well. So freaky and psychedelic at the same time. The Led Zep reissues are some high quality stuff. I am glad that you like the intro. I had the fear that it is a little too long but it seems like people like it. Thanks for watching - have a good weekend :) Armien
Thats a very nice haul.Don't have Osibisa, great artwork.I finally picked up Music For Airports too.Mine is kind of crackly on the first track. That Ten Years After looks like a really nice copy,I grabbed that in myself and Bens haul a couple of weeks ago.Great Live At Leeds with all the inserts.
Hi David, Roger Dean did it again. The Osibisa is another piece of his great work. I have to say that my Ambient 1 crackles a little in the beginning as well. Thanks for watching - have a good weekend :) Armien
Im diggin Osibisa I got the first two on ebay last year and am real happy with them!! Always liked TYA. Intersting on the Simon and garf LP with the sticker. The Who CD of that says that the crackling noises were corrected on the CD label. lol.
Cool that you scored the first two Osibisa. Great pieces of music imo. I guess the Simon & Garfunkel was an import pressing for the german market. Haha funny to hear about The Who. I just read that later vinyl pressings also were corrected. Thanks for watching - have a good weekend :) Armien
Great list of records this week Armien! Just one piece of info for those of us in North America interested in the Led Zeppelin reissues, there are a large number of people with defective copies of Houses of the Holy that were pressed by Pallas with the P.USA in the dead wax. Canadians and Americans should order Houses of the Holy from Amazon UK, and get the European market version, which was pressed at Optimal. For those with a defective copy from the USA, you can email Dr. Rhino for a replacement. The issue is bad distortion on the track "the Ocean". Please note, this only seems to be a problem with HOTH album, and only in North America. all the other titles I, II, III, IV seem to be fantastic quality in both the USA and EU.
That's great to know! Thanks for telling us. I have to say that my Led Zeppelin IV has a tiny little warping but for me it's still in the tolerance. All others were perfect. Have a good weekend :) Armien
I watch your video 1 months ago a sunday I saw the cover of the Osibisa album, listen it,love it and in the same day I was at a fleamarket And I saw the Osibisa album i bought it ! Thank you for make me this album discover ! (Excuse me for my english
I love the Osibisa album amazing stuff when I get my table working again that's the first wax that will spin !! Roger Dean via Yes fame did the art for the cover and their other albums as well all themed with the Elephantbutterfly those albums are equally amazing
Sounds like a plan, Derek. Although I only listened to their music on vinyl I would say that they are a typical band that sounds beautiful on wax. Roger Dean did a great job again. The mixture of Prog and Afrobeat combined with the cool cover art is just outstanding! Thanks for watching :) Armien
Great additions to your Rock of all sorts collection :).. The LZ reissues are fantastic. If I had the money I would buy them all. But there's always so many other records to get :)
I have the very same German copy of that Time fades away. Zuma's great/still missing Eno 15 euro is insane!!!! Wow!!! I have 2 and 3 on cd, 1 on download only. Great pickup for 15E!!!! No brselmachines bought( not the LP, ha ha ;) )
Haha no Broselmaschine this time :D I am sure you will find the ENO at some point. I really want his debut album next. Thanks for watching my friend :) Armien
I have the sssh. album as well. Loved the cover art that's the reason I bought it but I was expecting more from the music. Still staying in the collection though.
I have to say that I liked it a little better after I listened to it for a second time. Still not one of my favs but it will stay in the collection as well. Thanks for watching and commenting :) Armien
I wish I could find those first two Osibisa albums on vinyl.Very difficult to find in Australia. Had the second album for years but someone stole it. Never been able to get it back.
Good choices! Most of those albums could be found in everybody's record collection back in the late 1960's and early 70's. By "everybody", I mean those who listened to rock. Not every young person and almost no adults listened to counterculture rock back during that time period. It wasn't just the war, politics, long hair and drugs that created the gap. Music was a touchstone for those who were part of the counterculture. Back then, you knew people by what type of music they listened to and how strongly they felt about it. For others, many of them weren't even aware of what was being listened to.
Oh yes I can imagine that! Very interesting story. I am always thinking about it when I visit flea markets. Most of the people must have had a bad taste back in the days. There are so many "bad" records in the crates. Somebody must have bought them back then. Thanks for tuning in! You seem to have a great taste! Greetings from Germany Armien
AudiophileLaws Armien, I can't imagine who bought those terrible albums either, LOL! I have 60 framed albums on a wall in my house to represent, not only my music preferences but as a displayed example of the records that most "everyone" had in their collection back in the mid to late 1960's. I could add another 40 albums to the list but I don't have the wall space, LOL! BTW, we didn't refer to ourselves as hippies but as freaks. Back then, the media and straight society used the word hippie to describe those in the counterculture and now, in the present day, everyone uses the word hippie because its a generally understood descriptive term. Its one of the details about the culture that got lost to history. We still have the music though and that's the best representation of that culture. The music back then was made by freaks for freaks. For a short time ('66-'68), the musicians and listeners were peers, all having the same experiences as brothers and sisters. The musicians were the voice of the counterculture and the music was so good that it gave credibility to that choice in lifestyle. All the best from the USA - Gene
AudiophileLaws yea, today's pop stars make millions and live far from the same lifestyle of their fans. Artists like Madonna use focus groups and hire consultants to tell them what the latest trends are and what their listeners are into so they can connect with their audience. Aside from their fame and the respect they had, sixties artists like Hendrix, Clapton, Winwood, etc., were grounded and committed to the same lifestyle as their fans. They did the same drugs, endured the same injustices and had the same concerns and dreams as their fans. A story to put it in perspective: Jackson Brown was talking to David Crosby and Cros was talking about sailing away to live apart from all the bullshit that he was experiencing with police harassment, a government prosecuting an illegal war and straight society's enmity towards people with long hair. Brown said that just because they could afford to move to an island didn't mean that it was what they should do. He reminded Cros that we're all in this together and setting themselves apart from ordinary people is not what the movement was about "Deliverance must come for everyone, Browne said, not just hippie troubadours". Cros was really moved by Brown's message and mentioned Jackson Browns song "For Everyman". None of this is to indicate that any Joe with long hair could call up one of the Beatles and hang around with them but the artists had the same connection to the same dreams that everyone in the counterculture had. Eventually the connection was severed and things changed but for a while it was like we were all on the same boat with the artists standing atop the mast shouting down to us about what they were seeing.
Great stuff there, a bit different then your usual.....the Eno IMO is ideal for background....reading or studies or just talking, great. Just looking at LEEDS gets my blood flowing....fantastic. Steve
- Do Not Correct". Ist schon abgedreht :D Mein Lieblingsalbum ist tatsächlich Led Zep II und IV. Welches oder welche magst du am liebsten? Beste Grüße Armien
AudiophileLaws Okay. :)
Hallo Armien, wann machst Du mal wieder neue Videos! So denn, Rock on!
Eno is one of my favorite artists I haven't found any of his ambient stuff yet, but I do enjoy them very much. A lot of people enjoy is Art Rock albums much more if you can't get into his ambient stuff.
Hi Joseph,Here Come The Warm Jets is on my want list next. I would love to get deeper into his music. Thanks for watching - have a good weekend :) Armien
believe it or not I have all of the lps you showed in your video. Your German copy of the Who Live At Leeds, is the best pressing of that LP. It is also considered to be one of the best live rock performance ever. I also the have the limited Ed. 1995 CD box set with all the papers from the USA. Eno is almost always good. It took myself some time to enjoy his vocals when he sings versus his all instrumental records. I would recommend the Fripp & Eno LP called NO PUSSYFOOTING. I also have it on a double CD issue. The second CD is the music done backwards. Roger Eno is Brian's brother. Roger has some good lps out also. Ten Year After might be a bit more hard rock than you like. Did you ever see the Woodstock move? CSN&YOUNG, TEN YEARS AFTER, THE WHO, Santana, and many more rock groups are very good.
Now that sounds cool! I will definitely check out NO PUSSYFOOTING. I just watched the woodstock movie once, that was several years ago. I will ask my brother to borrow me his DVD. I just remember some cool scenes with Joe Cocker and a helicopter and of course Hendrix. Thanks for watching - have a good sunday :) Armien
I have to say that I boycotted the RSD this year. After I made some bad experiences in the last years I thought that the spirit was lost. But I respect everyone who went out and bought stuff. Did you enjoy it and could you find all the records you wanted? Armien
AudiophileLaws I found a small shop outside of Philly that gets a small amount of most releases, isn't packed with people elbowing each other, and has next to no wait in line. Renewed my interest in RSD. Also, did you pick up the Buena Vista Social Club "Lost and Found" from Nonesuch records yet? So so good!
That sounds good! Small shops are much better when it comes to RSD. A friend from youtube send me Buena Vista Social Club - Chan Chan 7" that was released for this years RSD. I received it yesterday. I didn't buy Lost And Found so far but it's definitely on my list. I can't wait for the reissue of the 1997 album. Hopefully it will be available in mid May. I hope that everything works fine. I heard some rumors that some problems appeared. We will see but I am really looking forward.
That's great to hear! They did a good job on the remaster and the reissues are high quality stuff in general. Thanks for watching - have a good weekend :) Armien
Hi Jeffrey, unfortunately those laserdisc sleeves aren't available any more. I ordered them a few years ago. A few weeks ago I wanted to get some new ones but these "old stocks" are sold out. I will go with standard white poly lined innersleeves next. Thanks for watching :) Armien
Hey my friend, great haul. I have like 4 Osibisa albums..love it..If you like that kinda stuff, try War,Santana,El Chicano,Macondo etc. These are more latin styles than afro, but along the same lines. Lots of bongos, timbales, congos etc etc. Great video once again
Osibisa is just fantastic! I have one album by war and some Santanas but I will definitely check out El Chicano and Macondo. I like the Latin stuff very much but still miss a lot in the collection. Thanks for watching - have a good weekend :) Armien
That Osibisa album art looks awesome. Reminds me of Yes artwork. Sounds interesting, afro beats + prog rock. I will have to check them out. I've never seen that original packaging for Live at Leeds. Looks pretty cool. I didn't know about the sound quality of that record either. I've actually never listened to it. I wonder if newer CDs also have those imperfections.
Hi Will, you have a good eye cause the cover art of Osibisa and some Yes albums is done by the same artist (Roger Dean). The mixture of prog and afro beat is outstanding. The Live At Leeds is strange in a way. The early pressings all have that imperfections and the label says "Crackling Noises O.K. - Do Not Correct". I heard that these noises were deleted on later reissues or the cd version. Thanks for watching :) Armien
Can't say anything about the Osibisa, but I'll check it out, too. I got the original WHO-release and it comes with 27 items (poster, photo, bills, setlist, etc.). The Sound ist quite noisy, but great to hear & to have. I got also an reissue and this one sounds amazing! Go for it because of the music and the sound as well. CD-release is quite good as well - there is a remastered version. Also you should check out the 1979 Japan-release of Queen Live Killers! It's awesome! To complete my top3 live-albums: UFO - Strangers In The Night (Live Chigaco)
Great finds man,an interesting fact about Crosby Stills & Nash album, the cover photo was taken at abandoned house and you will notice instead of C,S,N the order is Nash,Stills & Crosby their managers/record company wanted to re-shoot the photo they were scared fans may get the names wrong but when they went back to re-shoot it the house had been demolished so the photo had to stay,Osibisa is one of my all time faves I only have their albums on CD though, try to listen to Hawk a South African band from the 60's/70's
Hello Trevor, what a cool story about the CSN. I didn't know about it at all. The Osibisa blew me away. I will definitely take a listen to Hawk. Another band that comes to mind is: Assagai. Thanks for watching :) Armien
Great album by CSN, have it on Audio Fidelity CD, but I guess its sounds very close to the vinyl (I hope). Lovely remaster. Ten Years After, only "A Space in Time" is in my collection (Audio Fidelity CD as well). So far didn't feel the need to upgrade to vinyl. Maybe one day :) Have added "Osibisa" to my "to buy"-list, the name makes me more think of a European 70's discoband :D Still need to "get into" Brian Eno's solo-work. Led Zep's remasters are high on my wishlist, both vinyl and 24bit. Simon & Garfunkel is also a nice add to the collection. Enjoy your collection, have a nice weekend!
Hi Tim, I am sure the Audio Fidelity CDs are really good. First I had my problems with Ten Years After but after a second spin I liked the album. Osibisa is amazing - such a good mixture of afro beat and prog rock. Haha - the name is a little disco'ish indeed :D Thanks for watching and commenting! Armien
Hi Armien! Great finds! I was wondering where did you get most of them? And by the way, what plastic sleeve you use to protect your records? Greetings from France ;)
I am always buying from various places. The new records come from Amazon or my local electronics store (Media Markt). The used records are from a record store, an antique store or the flea market. The sleeves are called "Blake Sleeves". You will find them on the BagsXL website. There are sleeves with a flap and a sleeves without flap. There are also two sizes: Normal size and a bigger size for gatefolds. They ship from the Netherlands but unfortunately the shipping is a little high so it makes sense to buy a lot of sleeves at one time. I hope I could answer your questions! Thanks for watching :) Armien
AudiophileLaws You answered my questions for sure! Thank you so much :) I found the sleeves on the website, so you use also the large model for gatefolds? Do you use those with a flap? And just another small question because I'm very curious :p I often this in your videos that there's some kind of a note in the back of your records sleeves, I wonder what it's for? Thank you Armien!
Spleen Arcana Yes, I am using the small and the large size depending on what album I have. I am using the ones with flap and my preference is to put in the album that way, that you don't need to take it out of the sleeve if you want to get the record out. It also helps to keep the index card you mentioned inside. I am adding this card to every new record that comes into my collection. I write the following things on it: Date of first release, date when I bought it, place where I bought it, price including shipping and I also stamp it every time when I listened to it focussed from start to finish. Maybe I will do a video about that at some point. Armien
Hi Armien! Thank you so much for your reply, this is great! I'm used to put these informations in Discogs but it's nice to have them with the vinyl! A video about this is a great idea! I was wondering if those blake sleeves exist for gatefold but without flap, do you know about this? Thank you, have a nice day :)
No problem! As far as I know there aren't gatefold ones without flap BUT: The ones without flap are a little bigger in general so they should fit all albums. Armien
oh yes, I love the CTI label. Unfortunately I only have a handful of titles so far but they released fantastic music. Would love to get more of them. Thanks for watching :) Armien
Hi Armien I have some Ten Years After in my stash somewhere from buying a few job lots over the years, but haven't managed to get round to listening to them, might have to dig them out and see what I think. I have most of the Led Zeppelin originals, although some later than others. I was tempted to get the re-issues, have heard good reports, but maybe worthwhile if anything for the Jimmy Page re-mixes, are the differences noticeable?? Thanks again for a great video. Cheers, Dean
Hi Dean, I liked the Ten Years After album a lot more after giving it a second spin. The new Led Zep reissues are some high quality stuff. Jimmy Page did a great job on the remaster. I visited a friend and we compared all kind of Led Zeppelin pressings. If you want the best sound the new reissues are the way to go. Only the classic records pressings are a tiny little bit better. I decided to get them cause the "cheap" version can be found for 15 Euro here in Germany. Thanks for watching - have a good weekend :) Armien
