Is she actually singing in the movie? I keep seeing people say that she lip synced AND other people say that she sang it herself. I don’t know though.

jimin-eun gwiyeobda she was dubbed (can’t remember who did the vocals, but it does sound like what I’d imagine Jean Harlow’s singing voice would be like. And the long shots of her dancing was a dancer dressed up to look like Jean Harlow. I love her in this movie, but she isn’t really a fit for musicals.

@@DiamonthdP uhhhh good question that I’m not really sure of. Looking at that scene in Hold Your Man, it’s definitely her real voice, but I’m unsure whether she’s singing and playing it live in a studio or she’s pretending to play a long with a pre-recorded track.

Powell and Harlow were engaged. She got killed in a plane I believe. Powell went through much depression. He wasn't working when a little boy was overheard that he couldn't wait to see Mr.Powell in a movie. That child gave him the strength to go on.

I never ever thought Harlow was even remotely pretty. Her platinum hair & figure were distractions from her not pretty face.

I don’t agree, I think it’s the harsh 1930s make up MGM like to style her in can look a bit odd to modern eyes but Jean had a quirky prettiness - she has a sort of a Kewpie doll/Betty boop kind of look,. They toned her down later on and dyed her hair darker, she looked more natural after that. Interestingly the famous Photographer George Hurrell said Jean was his favourite actress to take pictures of

Carole Lombard, Powell's ex-wife died in a plane crash during WWII. She was married to Clark Gable at the time. Ms. Harlow died of kidney failure, which did depress Powell, along with a cancer diagnosis. He overcame the cancer.

I knew Carole and Gable were married when she died in the crash and that Harlow died while she was engaged.

They were never engaged, Jean had wanted to marry him at one time - she was supposedly dating a newspaper mogul at the time of her death from kidney failure, her and Bill were close friends
