Even less with MKB, it's not even something like First shot recoil like Battlefield, so even for DMRs I can't see much use of better Recoil recovery.

This makes a lot of sense because I’ve been running leather grips and lightweight stock on my ARs to increase my ADS strafe speed, which hurts my recoil recovery significantly but I’ve never felt the downside.

The upside of this bug existing is that you now know that when recoil recovery does get fixed, it won't have any negative effect on your current build at all. Recoil recovery doesn't even exist right now so fixing it can only make your build better because any amount of recoil recovery, even if it's the lowest amount possible, is better than 0.

Maybe down the road. The weapon leveling is too slow to do Gun Guides with any sort of consistency since I don't get too much time in the week to actually play games.

I can't feel any difference with these attachments, so go for movement buffs instead, the recoil in this game is so easy and predictable to control anyways.

It wasn't much of a factor in cod but in battlefield,r6s,etc most other fps games Recoil Recovery impacted scoped weapons much more than lower zoom optics,and especially compared to iron sights/lighter weapons. Recoil recovery is the speed at which your gun will reset to its start recoil kick. Again,it's just the speed of how fast your aim will move back to when you first started shooting. Recoil Control is just as obvious,depending which one you use you will either improve your recoil control/stability or make it worse based on the default weapon stats and attachments used. Hope this helps even if Ace/Espresso are far better at this. Imo,and thanks to a lot of boring testing, Recoil recovery only truly benefits scope dependent weapons such as dmrs,lmg,and snipers,and somewhat with burst weapons. But if you aim fast,and move quicker,then re-aim at other targets,then you won't get much benefits from recovery compared to recoil control which will help you with any weapon or class of weapon.

*Wish XDef Devs wouldve kept the Aim & Sensitivity setting simple* , just basic *Horizontal & Vertical sensitivity* ONLY, none of those extra 15+ settings which are unnecessary like in New COD which are terrible. Missed opportunity by the XDef...

The most impactful stat for recoil is ADS stability. It’s basically the random horizontal bounce that the commando foregrip used to fix in MW19

Ace, I’m sure you already have a video like this planned but just in case you don’t: You should make a video on how the different objective game modes work in XDefiant. What are the exact benefits you get from being the HotShot? What do you have to do exactly to become the HotShot? What are the requirements to make the escort bot retreat? How much does each player standing on a control point effect the rate of taking the objective? How do the spawns work in domination and occupy? Do you have to be standing directly on the objective while killing the enemy to advance the ultimate meter the most?

I knew something was bugged with recoil recovery as soon as I tested out the M16 in the firing range after your AR video where you said it had no recoil. When you fire normally with the M16, it has no recoil, but the moment you make any input on the right stick, your muzzle starts to climb. Glad to know thats just a bug and when it grts fixed ill be able to take off all my vertical recoil reduction attachments from it.

@@vProvi I noticed that if you run the 3 attachments that reduce Vertical recoil the most, the M16 seems to stop climbing, but that slows the gun down SOOOO much that it's honestly not worth using to me. I basically just decided to stop using it and come back to it once recoil recovery is fixed.

Can you cover strafe speed? I remember in Black ops 2 I would always put stock on my assault rifles to make them strafe better. because without a stock, it felt very clunky and slow to strafe. Is ADS movement speed the same thing as stock basically? Cheers

cant relate, plays with Mouse and Keyboard. *recoil recovery works well for MK and SVD, since you know..... they need recoil recovery.* try it yourselves, dont relies on these content creators for your game too much, especially when they only use 1 input (from controller or from m&k) to test the game.

This was my thought as well. it's actually so noticeable in practice that it feels like a hard requirement to use recoil recovery on certain weapons. I Specifically use a lot of the m16 and mk20. M&K relatively low sense.

@TheXclusiveAce I was hoping you'd make this video tbh! Tried testing both of these things myself and saw very minimal results but nobody tests like you! Even outside of CoD, you're still the GOAT!!! I was wondering what's going on with "ADS Stability". I only notice a difference when using high zoom optics and even then it doesn't seem very noticeable. I have noticed the shots from guns don't land exactly where my red dot/crosshairs are when I'm moving though and I'm wondering if ADS Stability might be a way to improve that or if it was just hitreg/netcode issues that I encountered. Didn't really have a great way to test this myself but hopefully someone else might have had better luck or some insight :)

Recoil is most controllable when the plot is as straight as possible! *The direction of the plot doesn't matter* as this game has no flinch. I would argue that in this comparison the vertical recoil improvement is more relevant as the plot deviates less from a straight line. It might feel less intuitive at first for CoD players to control the recoil sideways, but it's just as easy after a bit of practice as pulling directly down.

on the ak 47, using both fire rate booster attachements, which should add 30 and 20 % of recoil, does not change anything, which make the gun op

So question @TheXclusiveAce, I seldom hold down full auto fire on any automatic weapon and tend to pump fire. Especially long range. It's just been a habit of how I've always played since COD4. Mostly because in actual live fire situations? Full auto is mostly a suppressive fire flanking tactic. Also yes, I'm clearly overthinking it! Ha! Anyway, I'm actually interested in the concept of recoil recovery in theory, and I'm glad you brought it up! I just hope the developers take heed to your complaints and patch it accordingly to make it legitimately useful. Could potentially make some longer rage AR/MR weapons OP? Yet that possibly couldn't be such a bad thing if mitigated with something like a trade off for ADS stability or flinch? Great content tho! Cheers!

I assumed that recoil recovery was for "burst shotting" Either as you say, slow shooting like marksman, or the M4 3 round burst. But also if you wanted to just burst fire your weapons a bit instead of holding down fire. But if you have to go all the way out of ADS to get it, it kind of doesn't make any sense. Guess I have go through my attachments to see if anything can be improved.

This game is super fun but they have a lot of tweaks that need to happen. Recoil, rapid fire attachments, netcode is still wonky, no ammo refills unless you're playing escort. Not huge deals, but it will make the game feel more balanced when they adjust them all. I think the "sepcialists" could use some tweaking as well.

Lets assume that they fix that and Recoil Recovery is always in the work. How would it then affect Recoil? Sounds like a hybrid of Vertical and Horizontal Recoil Control that always tries to push you gun back to the starting point regardless of where the recoil goes

Just tested it. Recoil recovery works perfectly fine on mouse and keyboard when moving your aim and shooting. It is only controller input that is bugged.

Can you explain why aim assist feels so weird ace ? I've tried -6 -7 aim assist and it feels vaguely like cod but I can never make the game feels smooth like cod. Especially when someone drops vertically. It's impossible to hit shots. I just always find my aim assist is too strong or too loose

since headshots are king, focus on Horizontal recoil, and let the gun " rise up" on its own, as you simply land headshots even by accident, Using recoil as an aid, not a hazard.. not saying works for all weapons, all ranges, but,, "close in" builds for modes like hot shot, occupy, i think its a good place to put more emphasis on. i tend to aim " center mass" as it is, so the gun naturally rises up to the head quickly.. giving me better results over all. but, thats me.. not a hotshot pro wannabe... lol..

I knew something felt off. I spent some time testing and came to the same conclusion. However, I also discovered some issues with reticle centering itself. Ill just copy my previous comment below: Hello, Please disregard this if this is common knowledge or an issue the devs are already aware of. I did not see anything searching. I have been feeling like my aim is off a bit at times ever since playing this game. It usually feels worse at longer ranges. I kept feeling like my shots weren't registering or I was getting blank shots when I was sure my reticle or iron sights were on the enemy. Out of of frustration, I went into the firing range to test some things. Here is what I discovered: The reticle moves off center, appears to be to the left for the time/weapons I tested. This has caused me to continue to pull my reticle back to the right and missing shots. It appears what is actually happening is the reticle is not staying center screen and is floating sideways a bit making your shots be inaccurate if you are lining them up by the reticle. This is actually not your true center screen once you start firing. I believe that it is only the first shot the reticle stays center. This is why snipers and semi auto pistols can feel more reliable than automatic weapons. I further tested this in the firing range by using my monitors built in reticle. I got the same results. If i was more tech savvy I would take screenshots. When my monitor crosshair is enabled, the in game crosshair can be off by as much as 3 to 4 crosshairs widths to the side of my actual center screen. Since discovering this, I have disabled the monitor crosshair on my monitor and aimed to the side of my "center dot" in game with much better results. Kind of crazy that I am aiming against my "reticle" but it is the only way shots seems to register. I do feel like this is at least part of the reason people complain about hit reg or getting shot behind cover. That extra distance between the crosshair and where your bullets are landing can be drastic past 15 to 20 meters. Try testing yourself and let me know. Hoping to share this information and get it fixed if its not already something on their radar. I am hoping this was not an intentional game mechanic, seems more like an oversight or an error with the recoil and reticle.

So recoil recovery is totally worthless. Good to know. I suspected it because I wasn’t noticing any improvement from using attachments that boost it, but it’s nice to see it confirmed.

Be a lot, does you any good whatsoever? You still have to control the recoil manually with your input devices at least when you’re using an automatic weapon when you’re using a sniper rifle or a marksman rifle or one of the very slow firing weapon then recovery might matter my branch that mostly anything that has recoil in it doesn’t really do anything useful, and doesn’t really matter because all of the people on PC are running probably running trainers anyway I noticed that when I cross play, I die instantly a lot like headshot instantly all the time I cannot win and duel with anybody with my controller and I won’t lie I’m not I am Old, have the hand twitch coordination that be under wires house but when I cross playoff and only play against console players satisfaction level my ability to actually KILL other players increases a lot

In my testing most recoil patterns go up and to the right. To take advantage you should strafe to your right when facing a player 1v1 because the recoil wants to pull his or her shots to your left. A good player will stay on you regardless but a player lacking recoil skills will struggle to get back on target. Moving left your moving right into the recoil pattern. Just how I see it.

I HATE recoil recovery on semiautomatics in some other games, it messes up my aim because the recoil goes up and then down before the next shot can be fired and it's hard to keep the crosshair on target like that, so i personally love the absence of recoil recovery in xdefiant. am i the only person like that?)

As always, excellent eork. However i think you may have slightly missed the point of horizontal recoil control. To me its not controlling or minimising how far your aim strays to one side, but how much it deviates left and right from its straight line path.

Gonna have to disagree with you on the recoil recovery thing and may just be an issue with how you input/choice of weapon. I've been making heavy use of recoil recovery on my M16/mk20 since release and it's basically night and day between other attachments. so much so that padded stock feels like a hard requirement for those weapons. This bug only happens when you're recentering. in the case of both weapons with a few attachments you recover so fast that the window is too short for error. With the m16 you can really tell it's effects on the 3rd round of the burst which can make the difference between a 1 shot kill or not.

You’re not bothering an entire magazine if you actually can hit the target the first you’re shooting at his either dad in the first round or your dad. Those are your two options so the big majority of the bullets on your pattern. There are never firing at one person you’re firing at one person letting off the trigger, aiming at someone else and firing againand the first 3 to 5 foot of automatic so it’s down important. The majority of your graph doesn’t mean anything. It means anything because if you weren’t controlling the recoil with whatever your implant is, you’re not hitting the target anyway

hey ace, can you look at the rapid fire attatchments? They actually seem like they reduce the recoil in my tests and also a reddit user adressed that. Weirdly enough recoil was reduced with the ak and acr while recoil was increased with the mp7. It seems like the barrel is only bugged on AR's

why does it feel like it makes no sense to spec into any kind of recoil attachment there are obvious changes for rpm and mobility, but if you want to improve recoil it's nearly ineffective i can increase my recoil by 30% and its barely noticeable from the base.

Call recovery is due on automatic weapon firing at a high rate of meat. Recall recovery I believe is the return to zero when you shoot your gun and how long it takes to get back to where you’re aiming it from the recall, you’re never going to use that on an automatic weapon.

nice video. I always forget that this is tested on controller. On PC, recoil recovery is useless regardless. The real problem here, is that now half of the attachments are useless as well, at least at a meta level. Which means they either need to fix recoil recovery and make it useful somehow, or they need a new stat.

Even the stat say Horizontal recoil is helping more but the bulllet pattern for vertical recoil seem more consistant so is vertical recoil will be more easy to shoot ? i'm not really pvp fps player but I just want to try this game

Recoil recovery is meant for semi or burst fire weapons basically. But it also helps with autos when u burst fire at longer distances

i feel like the recoil recovery stat works more when you are jump shooting. I feel when that stat is really high my shots are tighter especially when its 2 or more jumps. Jump shooting with a Tactical grip just feels better.

They need attachments that reduce the amount of time you get killed feet around a corner or increase your hit detection when firing a weapon. Or attachments that give you other game modes that don’t involve standing in a circle while the other team spawns ten feet from you. Or standing in a circle at all. Where is search and destroy or something similar.

I wish there was a stat that helping with reducing visual recoil. It’s definitely not as bad as some of the recent cods but a few guns can be nauseating to use because of visual recoil in xdefiant

Maybe Recoil Recovery should occur between bullets then to make it overall more useful idk.

Can you do a video on the secondaries? I think the m9 has the fastest movement but I want to know if it's still worth running the burst pistol for a bit more lethality.

test aiming AND trying to hold the aim on one point, seems to have way less spray range with upped recoil recovery

Anyone else noticed that the stealth barrel says it reduces time on the minimap to 0s, but the stats still 1s when it's equipped?
