Great list, Melinda! My list is a little smaller than yours, but LOVE your enthusiasm about the titles. And DON'T feel guilty about loving Eddie Money. The summer his first album came out, I listened to it non stop. The album also mirrored a relationship I had from song to song that summer, which always makes me smile (ahh puppy love). I also agree wholeheartedly about the Grateful Dead, the 3 inch records and the picture discs too lol. Thanks again for your support of ROUND and your kindness. Have a great day on Saturday!

The Grateful Dead box sets are the main reason I care at all about RSD. Bonus - they never sell out on the day, so I can just pick them up after the rush. I know my local record store counts on these box sets as the top seller each year. They are almost exclusively full length live recordings, mixed from the original multi-track analog tapes. They are mostly top notch audiophile pressings of concerts that Deadheads have had in their collection as crappy cassette tapes, or even worse mp3's burned onto CD, for decades. So, to get a show in this quality is like Christmas for us. If you are only mildly curious about the dead box sets, I would recommend the 4/7/72 - Wembley show which came out on RSD Black Friday 2022. They are still around and the quality of the performance, mix, and packaging are incredible.

Yeah, Melinda! I love your Duran Duran Rio shirt. I going to the Duran Duran concert May 31st and so excited. I am still looking for an original copy of Rio. That Patrick Nagel cover artwork made this artists popular in the 80s. The prints were everywhere, restaurants, hair salons etc 😊

Wow! A really enjoyable video to watch, and a great presentation on your part! Keep your (sometimes) strong opinions! You’re entitled to them just as each and every viewer are entitled to their own. I don’t have all of the same “want’s” for RSD as yourself, but yet it’s always great to hear opinions of others (such as yourself) explaining why they want a particular record, and sometimes that alone can be enough to strike interest in a person who initially was not interested. Your explanation of the Temptation’s album for example! Hmmm - Got me thinking! I’ll be searching for the Bill Evan’s release and the Stevie Nick’s release. If I can obtain these two, I’ll call it a successful day, and then pick up a few other albums on my want list that are not as desirable. Great job Melinda! Thanks again! 👏💯😁⭐️👍

I'm with you about Eddie Money. I saw him at the Hollywood Palladium when his first album was out. I was expecting a goofy one-hit wonder...but was blown away at how hard he worked the room. He was a consumate performer who put his heart into his music. The records were good, but seeing him live was at a whole different level.

Another great video. Your comments are very valid. For me I'm only looking to get a few things, one of them the Bill Evans set. I'm very tempted on the All Directions LP (I remember it from my younger years) but Ireally hope they do a release of the Temptations' Psychedelic Shack some time in the future. Great album. Hasn't been re-released in years.

Good video. My top picks this year will be the Wilco Album and Chet Baker Chet mono pressing. Will pickup the Stevie Nicks and Temptations following your recommendation if available. I typically will no longer stand in line. Go about an hour after they open.

Nice video. Let me put your mind at ease about Stevie. It's taken from a concert recorded for HBO. I had the laserdisc. The sound was killer so no worries there. There's so many. I'm definitely going for the exclusives. Thanks for the update on record store Day.

Love your videos, Melinda. The “Top Gun Maverick” soundtrack was recently released on picture disc. I was pleasantly surprised at how great it sounded.

I did get the Eric Carr a few months ago for a decent price - More for the cover art and vinyl - music is middle of the road, but love the cover and the vinyl. Based on your recommendation, I did just buy the Temptations and Duran Duran RSD vinyl records on Ebay - I'm late on my youtube videos, so love your channel, but a few months late watching your videos, but you are my go to on vinyl and a nice overview and honest opinion that I tend to agree with more times than not!

Great video Melinda! I am hoping to pick up Gong Live in Lyon (3 lp), Captain Beefheart Live at my Fathers Place (2 lp), Ted Nugent Nuge Vault Vol 1 and the Eric Carr release. The Temptations release looks good too. I have one of those 3" turntables and some Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash 3" records...it's just a novelty item, I think its pretty cool...a conversation piece really. That has to be the silliest promotion I've seen on RSD. I have Waltz For Debby in my Jazz collection & that's it. I trust your enthusiasm for Bill Evans. Treasures sounds like a great collection. Thank you for the video! I have never taken part in Record Store Day only because I've rarely ever seen artists I would be interested in. But luckily, the few titles I've wanted have been available months later on Discogs, often for less money (even with shipping) than what our local stores would have charged. So, win/win! (And the seller gets a bonus since I usually add another title or two to pad the order.) "Dumbest" RSD title I've seen? An Africa-shaped picture disc of Toto's "Africa." Guilty as charged, I do like some Toto but seriously...? 🤣 BTW, a little tidbit from AXPONA. Acoustic Sounds brought some of their 45 RPM sets of the completely Riverside recordings of Bill Evans. $900. It sold out quickly the first day. Wow. (It is one of their most-requested titles.)

Hey Melinda! Im in for the Duran Duran too! As you say "that'ns" gonna be a fun one. Haha, out here we have the southwestern "fix'nta" As is "Im fix'nta go get that Duran Duran" So I get the Kentucky slang lol. I really havent looked thoroughly at the list but it seems we have some good jazz coming this RSD too. Ill get the Chets and the Evans Im sure. I think lots are going to be wanting the Nuggets box set. Im iffy on it because I already have the 2lp set. Im hopin the VH release of Right Now is a signal that the Sammy Hagar VH years reissues are on the way. Sammy hinted that the remasters are in the works. Im not much a Dead fan either. But they seem to have literally recorded every concert they ever did. Good for the fans, but I think I have 2 or 3 GD live sets. Im good with that. I will suggest Jerry Garcia live though. I enjoy Jerry solo live better. I bet you would like his live late 80s and 90s stuff also. On this set he does alot of Dylan covers. I really like Jerry doing Dylan. Jerry Garcia Band - Jerry Garcia Band: Live 30th Anniversary 5lp set (must have imo) Any live Garcia with James Taylors "How Sweet It Is" is great. "Shady Grove" is also fantastic. Anyway, give Jerry solo a listen if you havent, much tighter sound and playing. And of course Jerrys voice is much better imo that Bob Weirs more off pitch at times. Picture discs blech. My pet peeve is The Cure and those picture discs when they need a complete remastering campaign. Robert Smith needs to get Kevin Gray on the masters and theyd sell like hotcakes! Oh, and I dont have any tiny Jim Morrison dolls I play with so Im passing on the 3 inch mini Doors albums and turntable. Now watch, that will be a $500.00 item 5 yrs from now, ha. Hi Melinda! You were correct about the enormous lines for RSD this year. SWIFTIES we’re out in force! I was able to snag the Nuggets Box set, I even saw TWO John Lennon box sets at 3:30 in the afternoon! Couldn’t believe they were still available! The $300+ price may have had something to do with that. Great day all around, need that VH lp for sure!

Have to say there’s more in this RSD than the last few that I like, in the end it will all come down to cost for me. A lot of the ones I’m thinking of I’m not desperate for, and I definitely won’t be paying huge amounts for! Good luck to anyone with getting their wants, do your job Mike 😊❤

Chet Baker fan here! The "Chet" album in Mono is the one I'll be after on the day, should be a great sounding release given it's a Kevin Gray all-analog mastering. The Jazz Dispensary RSD compilations are always interesting, so I'll probably pick up the "Hotel Jolie Dame" release too.

I'm so bummed that The Violent Femmes release is a picture disc. And I think there are too many live albums this year. But I'm still lining up early, and I might even buy that ridiculous Doors toy. Great video, Melinda.

First off, the Stevie Nicks sound quality is outstanding. This was released on CD in 2016. Portions of the show aired on HBO in 1982. It’s the definitive Stevie live album. It has never been released commercially on vinyl, but was aired in the 80’s on the radio quite often. I will be getting this one even though I have the 2016 CD, the 1984 VHS and the various radio show LPs. I’m looking to get the Eric Carr album. I’ve never heard the album, but I love the artwork. I know, “judge a book by its cover”! Really looking forward to this RSD, can’t wait!!

As a newish collector, I’ve heard stories of flippers waiting near the front of the lines buying all the good stuff to sell them for an arm and a leg online. That and the fact I’m not a fan of crowded places either made me never want to experience record day. But after this vid and seeing some of the cool stuff for this year, I might just give it a shot. Like not waiting in line first thing, but stopping by during the day to see what’s left. Always a pleasure watching your videos!

I totally hear you on things and I think it’s cool that there’s an Eddie Money covers ep! My #1 want is the Warren Zevon release. I’m allowing myself two this year for budget reasons 😂 The only thing I don’t like about the Van Halen is the price. I get why it is the way it is, but they prices it out to here I just can’t this year sadly haha

I definitely got up a little earlier than normal because i knew the swifties were going to be out there. I also knew they were going to get that a little else, so i wasn't too worried for those in front of me. The cool thing about RSD is how there is something for everyone. You and I had no overlaps on our lists, but there was still stuff for both.

Hey Melinda, I thought of you last night I went to see The Zombies live in Norwich (in the the UK) and they were absolutely superb! I picked up,the latest album on red vinyl and got it signed by the whole band what a great night! Hopefully they’ll be over your way at some point 😎

Hey Melinda great video!! I’m looking forward to Saturday!! But I’m looking forward to getting the black keys first concert, Jason isbell & Amanda shires ep together and Amanda’s solo ep!! But the one I most want but is only available in Canada is the our lady peace one!! I am friends with the guitar player who joined the band in 2002 after the original one left!! But Van Halen might be on the list!! But the only one I know that will be hard to sell is the Ted Nugent record of demos from his first record!! I met his drummer at a benefit he was playing at in February at a small venue and we talked about it!! The first release they did on Black Friday didn’t do to well and there at retail price on Discogs and saw a lot at the record store just sitting there when I went Christmas shopping with my mom a week later

I'm an Eddie Money fan as well. Two Tickets To Paradise is my favorite song of a Eddie's. I also like I Think I'm In Love. There's records that I want to buy, but with my work schedule, it's a 50/50 shot if I can make it record stores on RSD. Take care, Alan.

I am with you on the picture discs. Robert has been encoring me to get into The Cure and every single RSD release by them as been a picture disc. I won’t get them, because my basic understanding is that the audio quality is not as good as a standard record.

The record I wanted ran out in all three participating record stores for RSD. So I had to wait and hope for Plaid Room Records online stores didn't sell out by this morning. And I got lucky, I got my hand on Flash and the Dynamics- The New York Sound. It's a Latin psych, soul, funk record that's a banger from beginning to end. Is was a RSD 1st release with 2500 pressed on purple vinyl, 180 gram, and cut from the original analog recordings. I was so happy I grabbed it, because when I bought it online there was a checkout wait time, and sold out of this record in 15 minutes. But I love it, You should definitely check it out sometime. Great Spanish/English songs that make you wanna groove👍👍

I only picked up 2 things this time around: Van Halen live and Stevie Nicks live. There's a lot of other things I wanted, but it gets so pricey so quickly that I just went with the 2 I wanted the most.

Totally agree on that worthless Doors RSD release. What in the hell was The Doors management thinking? That said and out of the way, Melinda I hope you were able to get the Nuggets box. I got the last one at my local store.

Hi Melinda I agree with regarding the Doors offering this RSD. I don’t need another turntable and especially one to play 3” records. I am definitely picking up the Bill Evans and Chet Bakers releases. I have an OG copy of the Temptations but it is quite noisy so I will pick that on up. Although I am not the biggest Taylor Swift fan, I will be picking up her release just because. The Jazz Dispensary release and other jazz and rock releases are a must. Good luck on RSD and hopefully you and everyone will get what they want.

Just got back. Budget was tight this year so the only thing i got was the Van Halen even though i had others i was interested in. $145 Canadian after tax and i had to talk myself into it, lol. If it wasn't exclusive I would've waited. So spot on with all your points about RSD, I couldn't agree more; the 3 inch gimmick is the worst! One exception, although I'm not the biggest fan of crowds, I do enjoy the camaraderie and conversations that happen in line. Maybe because I'm a hermit most of the time, lol! Anyway great choices, I could have gone for all your picks, especially that temptations collection which sounds fantastic!

The Greatful Dead Box sets I'm not a huge fan but I know folks that are and respect them to the fullest I go for the Hard Rock/Heavy Metal albums Such as Eric Carr, Motorhead, Van Halen, Kittie I hope you get everything you want on Record Store Day Melinda

Great line up. RSD and certain other things such as Acoustic Sounds UHQR or MoFi are notorious for the t-shirt slogan at AS of "buy now or cry later". Same for real estate and people itching to invest. Cost on records and real estate keeps going up. Its FOMO that backfires on people if they aren't careful ...fear of missing out

My must get for me for 2023 RSD is... Pearl Jam - Give Way , live album from 1998 first time released publicly.

Hi Melinda, love your videos. I pretty much agree with all your comments even the Mr. Money's covers album, that might be interesting. One thing we do differ on is Kiss. I liked them somewhat early on for around 3 years but since then l've had nothing to do with them. Can't like everything. Have a super rest of your week. 😊

Nice selections. Melinda I told you about that Temptations record like two or three years ago, haha, that era of the band was heavily influenced by their peers like Kool and the Gang, Earth Wind & Fire, The Four Tops, etc, but especially from Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye. Love the Nuggets compilations, there are like 10 different volumes from the 60's up to the 90's from Garage Rock, Power Pop, Punk, Britpop, Jangle Pop, Folk, Acid Rock. I love the Eric Carr record I have Rockology (1999) and Unfinished Business (2011) both on CDs bought them at one of Bruce Kulick solo shows he also plays on both albums. I have a lot of respect for them. Bruce is my favorite KISS guitar player, yeah, love Ace so much, Vinnie and Mark were cool, but Bruce put the bar really high for the band during his time with them (1985-1996).

Thanks for the Temps recommendation, will definitely be looking for it. I'll be looking for the Zevon release too. I have it on CD but would love to have it on vinyl. The Bill Evans release would be nice but probably pricey here in Canada. Ali Farka Touré is another on my list but it's only 1100 copies so don't like my chances.. I don't usually do pic disks but that ELP cover is so cool, heard on another channel that it does sound pretty good. No need to apologize to liking Eddie $$, that may be a sleeper pick. I can’t fault you at all for your opinions on Eddie Money! He’s great! I’m so lucky I got to see him live before he passed away. It ended up being about his 10th to last show, or so. 😞 I was really interested in getting The Covers, as well as the Mr. Big release. But Van Halen was my top priority, and with the price for that set, I exercised restraint on getting either of those others. 😪😅 But thankfully I was able to get a copy of Van Halen! Me and the girl behind me both wanted it, and, miraculously, there were two copies left when we got through the line! One for me, and one for her! It was meant to be!

Not a picture disc collector, only have a set of Emerson Lake and Palmer given to me a while back, look neat but I don't play them, prefer black vinyl, cool video!!! Melinda, old is the wind and still blows!!!!!! cheers.

Even though I won't get Eric Carr's album this is the type of release I want to see more of on RSD. I want to see rarer albums that didn't get vinyl releases or very few. There are a lot of big albums in the cd era people would pick up if on vinyl. I can do without all the live albums or albums that just got a release that year and are in a different color. I also can do without the alternate take albums. I like the songs the way they are and an alternate I would just listen to once and never again which would be a waste of money. I would rather find an album that is a hidden gem than albums I like done differently or albums already readily available.

I so desperately want the Nuggets 5-LP box. I might have to just bite the bullet and dip into the savings for this one. I've never attempted to collect them individually because the task seemed too daunting, and would certainly have to be pieced together. Here you get it collected in a nice iridescent foil box. I'd be so happy! Side bar: I recently bought the Temptation's record you held-up ("All Direction") along with "Cloud Nine, "Puzzle People," and "Psychedelic Shack."

I love Eddie Money! His s/t still gets a pretty good rotation in my home! Great songs from start to finish, so I can understand the sentiment to get that title! As for this RSD, I think the bulk of the list stinks! I live 360KM away from the nearest Record store so nothing on here would make me jump in the car. There are 2 or 3 titles I would probably get if they were still in stock when I made it out the store eventually. Have fun!

I bought The Temptations album. I live around the block from where the some of The Temptations lived and Smokey Robinson lived too. Marvin Gaye had a huge mile long ranch two streets over. Before he moved to LA.

First I agree with the doors singles that's just crazy I do collect picture disks but only certain ones so no on Nena I am looking forward to getting Mr Big first album for RSD release though and yes that temptations one also

I completely agree with your sentiments regarding the Taylor Swift RSD release. It's unnecessary for these humongous crowds and lines to gather for RSD. On one hand, it helps the stores out right? Okay, but how many of those fans are going to hang around and buy something else? My guess is maybe a few, but not the majority. Anyways, I'm happy for all the business the independent stores will get, even if it does test the limits of my social anxiety 😂.

Hi Melinda, I didn't buy anything on RSD. However, I did just order the Jerry Garcia Band - How Sweet It Is, for 39.99 plus tax, S&H. I've loved the Dead since 1988. I respect you enough to let the Dead comment go.....I know you were just kidding around. I too am a huge Chet Baker fan. Thanks for the suggestion. Have you heard the recently released - Chet Baker Sings and Plays ? OMG ! It has some strings, which for some can be a deal breaker, but it very much goes with the music without overpowering it. Also, I wanted to ask if you've heard of Samara Joy ? She released her Verve debut last year. She's 24 and musically/vocally beyond her years. You can hear her Sarah, Ella and Billie influences, but she has her own voice. I think you'd really like that. I love me some Eddie Money. I don't own anything by him, but anytime I hear his songs, it brings me back, like you said. I know I tend to go on, but really enjoy "chatting" with you.
