Man that ending footage was so golden. Took me back to those corner store trips with family and friends back in the 90s. So laid back and cool. Then the comment about walking through town afterwards really takes you back to simpler times. Before advent of crazy tech. People hung out outside and at friends houses. The commercials were great as well because they had that comfort to them. Setting the tone. I was about 9 in 1990

My favorite year to be alive up to that date.1991 was even better. I remember seeing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie with my cousin, then looking down the sewer drains in the parking lot for them after. 30 Years later we went to see the anniversary theatrical re-release together, epic.

I was 11 years old in the early 90s a great time to be alive for family and our country TV really was at its best so much memories I will cherish forever thank you dave for being diligent and reminding us of our memories

I was a teenager throughout the entire 1990's and I miss those days and the 90's altogether. Life was so much better then. Everything was better, clothes, food, music, family life, school, etc. Take me back 🙂

I love seeing some of these things, Dave. Until recently I worked at The Golf Channel for 18 years. In my earlier couple years, I worked in the video library and frequently had to log tape contents. Many of our thousands of tapes were full broadcasts of various golf tournaments, complete with commercials. I only had to log the tournament happenings, but I always found the old advertisements more fascinating, and wished I could log those and get them preserved. I think a lot of old adverts and news broadcasts made during the tape era were just thrown out, which is tragic to me.

That ending footage of the gas station store is from at least 1996. The "Aladdin and the King of Thieves" promo on the box of Trix cereal was from 1996.

Amazing footage at the end. The closest thing you get to a time machine is stuff like that. Walking through a store circa 1990-1991 you are there with them.

0:32 & 4:11 Fast food chains loved to use this sort of bluesy, jazzy music in the late 80s and early 90s.

Ah the year I was born! The footage at the end was a really amazing time capsule too. Being around the late 90s, I remember having those trips around my local corner store and just having many carefree moments with friends and just enjoying the adventure. :)

These commercials were aired the year I was born! 1:32 That Canon camera did look futuristic for its time. It looks kind of like a modern HD handheld video camera. 2:53 I always thought picture in picture TVs were so cool back then. 3:16 Good ol Hungry Jack syrup. I remember when they first introduced the microwavable bottle that had the HOT indicator on the bottle when it was HOT lol 4:12 The hot and spicy chicken from KFC was probably competing with Popeyes with their original cajun spiced fried chicken it seemed. 7:09 My father in law remembers those ads when Saturn was conceived. He read all about that car company in car magazines. He never wanted to own a Saturn. Said they were cheap plastic-y cars lol 8:40 cs188 YTP material lol 18:14 I love watching old home videos from the early days. Seeing all those older products gives me such nostalgia. I should recommend watching Eric & Darrell's videos on their RU-vid channel. They grew up in my neck of the woods of Huntsville, Alabama back in the late 80s and early 90s. They made a lot of old home videos from that era and their silly shenanigans from the Huntsville, Alabama area. Worth checking them out!
