Hi Nary, It's definitely worth downloading the free trial of Decipher TextMessage -- it will look to see if you have any old backups (in case one was made while you were syncing). Then you can make a new backup, and it's possible that there are very old messages still in the free space. Worth a shot to look!
Hi Noah, We do have a version of Decipher TextMessage for Windows, including Windows 8 -- you can check out the free trial on our webpage. Unless you mean a video for Windows 8? We are working on creating some updated videos, but in the meantime you can send us Windows 8 specific questions via email!
Decipher TextMessage doesn't connect directly to the phone -- it only reads through backups. So we'll need to make a new backup of your phone in iTunes. (Sadly I can't post links in comments!) If you go to our site, click on Support and then FAQ - search for backup and the "How do I make a backup?" entry should be near the top.
Our apologies, a link to the article should have appeared in the video annotations. I'm adding a link to the end of our video description text right now.

Hello thehoss321! Decipher TextMessage does read-in attachments from your SMS messages for not-deleted messages. We're also working on deleted attachment recovery and have an alpha version for interested Decipher TextMessage users! Shoot us an email from our website and we can see what we can find!
