I've been loving this workflow, gives independent artists and smaller studios the ability to do character work that matches the quality of top studios in a fraction of the time and money

Hi, just subbed to your channel. Incorporated CC4 and iClone to my workflow a month ago. Your videos are VERY helpful. Especially the correction of the eye blink and facial expressions. Thank you. Please do more videos...especially stuff with cloth...maybe weight paints, cloth physics. Thanks again.

It really discourages me to see such amazingly talented artists with only 565 "Including mine" Subs on RU-vid. like, this is literally ART... and its like nobody cares but those of us MAKING it.

there is nothing interesting in the process of work for an ordinary person. they need a result, not a process. and the process is only needed by other artists for training.

⁠@@sc0rpi0n0no they won’t. Studios want to see that you know how to make a character from scratch. Using CC4 isn’t enough to land a job.

Ir Russia we have an anecdote about this: An American company bought an airplane from the Soviet Union. This plane was neatly packed in boxes and sended, just remained to assemble it. When the plane was assembled in the USA, it turned out to be a steam locomotive. Everyone was very surprised, disassembled the structure, reassembled it and again it turned out to be a steam locomotive. The Americans have summoned a representative from the Soviet Union. He came and assembled the plane for them. The Americans ask: - How did you do that? - Here it is written in the end of instruction: "...After assembly, process with a steel file!"

I Got a question. you said i gotta "Flip the Normals Vertically" or something like that. if i was to Transfer the model straight to 3DCoat for Retopology, would i need to still do that? cause i had planned on doing a complete Retopo, or using that one program... i forget its name. but it basically puts a pre-made Topology onto your sculpt?

Hi there, could you time stamp the specific part of the video you're referencing? I did mention that you have to flip the UVs vertically when you export from Zbrush, because Zbrush flips them by default. Let me know and I'll try to help you.

Thanks! Technically you could do this in Zbrush, but it would be slower. Zbrush can extract Object or World Normal maps. However, you'd need an additional texturing application (e.g. Photoshop) to extract the Green channel and combine it with the Color Map to produce the stylized effect. By the way, there's a cheaper alternative to 3D-Coat (Textura).

Hi there, you need to turn on symmetry in Zbrush, then use the 3D gizmo symmetrically. Unfortunately I can’t post images on RU-vid to guide you further. If symmetry doesn’t work, click one of the Gizmo functions to center the gizmo location before moving it.

Wow, this was an amazing workflow tutorial. Do you think this all could be done in just 3DC without ZBrush? I know it's a big ask, but if it's possible would you mind showing us a 3D Coat workflow only on a much, much, much more simple character, I'm more curious about the workflow and how to do the sculpting in 3DC and not Zbrush. Thank you!

Hi there! Thanks for the kind words. I'd have to do some more experimenting to see how 3DC exports FBX's and OBJ's. Sometimes software reorganizes the vertex order during the export, and in the past I've found that 3DC OBJ's (for the main character) don't reimport well. It's a good question and topic that I'd like to visit.

Im confused why did you need to go to 3D coat for the projection retopo. Wouldn't you just use the base mesh from Character creator?

Hi there, are you referring to the 'Retopologize Base for High Poly Bake' command? If so, I'm embarrassed to say I've not yet used it. I've always taken my low and high res meshes to another application. Old habits. Especially since apps like 3D Coat allow for stylized texturing.

@@MythconsLab So you imported that low rez mesh with good topology at 57:16 into 3D coat? Is this part just the process of baking? I thought that you were projecting a retopo mesh onto your model. But it makes sense that you were just baking.

@@markross4519 Yes, I was just baking high resolution details onto the low poly version to extract a few texture maps, such as normal maps.

Hi there, I will make a video soon on how to modify the facial profile. By default, the character is capable of speaking (if you add audio to it in iClone). I will soon show how to modify the facial profile so that it suits your character when they mouth the words or make expressions.

Hi there, thank you for the feedback. Yes my audio setup isn't great, I've been looking for a solution. I just have some old headphones at the moment. As for just chatting throughout... haha I don't have that stamina, and I don't have that much to say beyond my tips. I appreciate your feedback! I will look into better audio. Also, background music.

@@howtodrawwithmiketv782 You don't have to use Zbrush, but it makes the process quicker. You can use Blender or another compatible app. Character Creator allows you to create characters easier, but the more challenging the concept, the more difficult it will be to re-create it.
