Without a doubt: the greatest dead-pan delivery EVER. his timing and delivery was perfect and (mostly) flat-out hysterical. everybody loved Red. how could you not love this guy?
I love the way he kept looking in the crowd, he was always funny as hell to me and old 60 year black guy like myself, gefilte fish I just felt like saying that because of Red 😃😃. I Always loved those old school Jewish comics because for the most part they were all real as hell. I've been watching the marvelous Mrs Maisel lately on Amazon prime and although I know that she is a composite of a lot of different comedians and fictitious. I love her for the same reason that I loved Red because like him she don't care what comes out of her mouth. And some of the expression and sounds that they make OY or the entire thing OY Vey that stuff has been cracking me up since I was a kid. Milton Berle, Jack Benny, George Burns, the Marx Brothers it was just a cavalcade of them (Jewish comedians) that made me laugh so hard back then and now that they'd draw tears from my eyes.
Michael, I'll be 69 in August, born, raised and still live in B'klyn. I'm half Italian and half Irish and my family, and my friends, we all knew and appreciated Jewish comedians from that era who came from the streets like us. They laughed at us and laughed at themselves. Nothing was mean spirited. This was a brilliant monologue, one of his best birthday/roast/eulogy/etc. things Red has on RU-vid. I saved it but wonder, except for my wife, who would know all the celebrity references. But WE do (you, me, my wife, and a few others) and a few more with a sense of humor and ears, will love the jokes even if they don't know the old celebrities he references.
The LORD saved this Black woman from atheism 50 YEARS ago! He first gave me a King James Version New Testament to read, which cleansed my filthy atheistic spirit, all day December 23rd and 24th. Then late on Christmas Eve in 1972, I prayed "Father touch me, in the name of Jesus!" With that prayer, Papa God sent Holy Ghost very sweetly and gently down into my heart! Glory! JESUS saved me and that changed the way I hear things. I hear what GOD hears! There will be no profanity in the Kingdom of GOD! No off color jokes! AMEN! 🙏🙌💞

few people know/remember that red bottons at one time was on track to be the number one!...comic..and the number one tv personality....in the country!! but......unfortunately as his fame grew..so did his ego/head....he became so impossible to deal with that the show fell apart and so did his career....which continued..but was just a fraction of what it might have been....
